Cool, classic Italian shop. This review is for the sandwich. The meatball sub was not good. It was super dry without any sauce. Their classic Italian sandwich was solid, but there are others in the area that are better, including the Italian Store.

A. Litteri is a classic -- small but mighty! They have a great assortment of fresh pastas, a tasty selection of Italian cheeses, and lots of fun condiments and such. (They also have what's supposed to be a terrific wine selection, but we haven't sampled that.) We even found fresh apple pie there for Pi Day. Nice, helpful people, too!

Very very rude and outrageous Manager! They sell good stuff, but that doesn't mean he has to treat people like they don't reserve some respect. One of the very few times I got treated like that in DC, where people are mostly so nice and considered. Very disappointing.

I want to start by saying, support your local businesses. Especially ones like A. Litteri. We went for the first time since we moved here in July. I’d been meaning to go but it didn’t happen until yesterday. Awesome shop. Fantastic sandwich. Excellent customer service. These guys are the real deal. They have tons of great wines and fine Italian products. The deli is top quality and the food is fresh. Everyone we spoke to felt welcoming and friendly. I’ll be going back without a doubt!

BEST ITALIAN DELI IN DC!!! Conveniently located in the heart of the Union Market District. The Italian Classic is my go-to sandwich. Service is fast and friendly, and the prices are unbeatable for a grab and go lunch spot. Family style ambience throughout, you can tell this place is well loved by the neighborhood, and for many years to come.

I was so scared that all of the construction and modernization of the neighborhood were going to totally ruin this business. I had also heard the shop changed hands a couple of times in the past few years. But, I was so relieved to discover how similar things still are when we recently visited! Prices are maybe slightly up, but with current inflation, it's no surprise. The quality, selection, unique items, and overall charm of Litteri's hasn't changed, however, which warmed my nostalgic heart. The staff is engaging, friendly, helpful, and overall carries the same vibe of 40+ years ago: a neighborhood establishment committed to the community and quality products. Everyone seemed to be there for the sandwiches (except us), but don't sleep on their selection of imported pastas, sauces, meats, cheeses, locally made items, and other Italian ingredients. It's our go-to shop for Italian favorites in DC and the entire DMV! We love you, Litteri's, and we hope you never lose your heart and soul! <3
