I’ll start with the pros:- They have a turf and free weights.- They have day care, yoga, Zumba and all that if it fits your needs- Most of the staff is very friendly. Now, the cons:- There’s a very depressing feel with this place.- If you’re gonna go, bring headphones. They play music from the tv speaker and the playlists could use some work.- The bathrooms/locker rooms are typically very messy. There’s rarely any soap in the men’s room and you’d be lucky to have paper towel to dry your hands. The men’s trash is usually overflowing, too.- While the staff is friendly, they rarely do rounds of the facility to notice that paper-towel and disinfectant to wipe down dirty gym equipment is empty, so you will see gym goers walking from station to station hoping to find sanitation bottles and a dispenser that actually has paper towel.Overall, it’s not a TERRIBLE gym. But, they definitely need some work and closer supervision. I’ve been a member for about a year and am considering canceling if things don’t get better. I’m not sure they can justify charging people $25+ a month for a membership with the type of quality I’ve experienced so far.

Been going to the senior workout classes for a year. Andre and Dawn are good trainers. JD is excellent for personal training.

Offers online registration, but annual fees are not disclosed at the time. Hot in the summer, freezing this winter. One of the two chest machines was broken the entire time I went there and always 1/3 to 1/2 of treadmills aren’t working. Was told they would put in a water bottle filler when I signed up a year ago, still no water filler. Last time I went, the building had a ceiling leak and half of the ceiling in the women’s bathroom was collapsed and multiple buckets collecting water by the treadmills. Emailed ask how to cancel my membership, and they told me to call. When I call, they told me to come in person or send a letter. Per their contract (that you never see if you sign up online), you pay everything for a month after they receive your letter. The staff at the counter when I went in told me that even though I paid for another month, my membership had been canceled so I couldn’t go. They certainly need to ensure their employees are clear on company polices. They charged me another years worth of maintenance fees even though I only went for a year and would not be continuing because it fell within that month. Contract is not clear and they were not willing to budge. Instead of refunding the $40 they would rather lose out on future business as I would not recommend this place for that reason alone.Positives: The place was always relatively clean, had a variety of machines and decent exercise classes.

This gym is honestly one of the best gyms I’ve been to. The atmosphere is nice and laid-back and the place is clean, despite some of the other reviews saying that it was dirty. They are always friendly there, and I have never had a problem with any of the staff ? 5 stars

Beware of becoming a member of this gym, I do not recommend it even to my worst enemy. The process of unsubscribing is very difficult and convoluted and all to make you give up. !100% agree with the rest of the comments on this. I followed all the steps to cancel the membership and still I have received undue charges.I have complained and they will not answer me or refund my money. Please help, can I claim it to the authorities?

If you're looking to avoid setbacks, don't join this gym. When they tell you that your monthly membership is without a contract and that you can unsubscribe at any time. They are not telling you the whole truth. The truth is that even without having a "contract" you have clauses like a contract that requires you to notify by certified letter to cancel your membership, and the process takes 30 days. Really the deal is as if it were a normal membership. On the other hand, they charge you an annual fee of $53.12 regardless of the fact that you have only been attending the gym for 6 months.Lastly, while the employees spend their time on their phones, if you look like a Latino they can surprise you, asking you to pick up equipment that other people have left, and if you tell them you haven't used the equipment they look at you as if they don't believe you.An now, don't come to comment, or say sorry just to protect your image, the reality is that you could do better and you don't, even with all the poor reviews you have.

Cancelation process is horrendous, the bathrooms were filthy, I observed people not disinfecting between use of equipment. Bottom line, when asked about this place, I tell my friends not to waste their money

It's OK unless you have to cancel. Extremely difficult to cancel. I had not been in over a year (I had prepaid for a year membership initially, then I was switched to monthly charges - automatically?) Website does not mention the cancel process in writing, calling the gym several different times resulted in a number of excuses why they would not cancel my membership. A third call gave me someone who stated that supposedly one needs to send a certified letter by US Postal Service to East Brook Fitness LLC, 95 Storrs Rd, Mansfield CT 06250.

My son joined here while going to UConn. No issues with gym itself, but when he graduated, it is impossible to quit and stop the automatic billing.According to contract you sign, you have to "contact them in writing (a formal letter)" to cancel. No email, no going to the gym and telling them. Must be in writing in a letter. My son called, visited face to face, and emailed the manager, and they didn't cancel. I am still paying. I have disputed transactions on my Visa card and called better business bureau. They also hit you with a $42 yearly fee on June 1st, right after graduation, so you have to essentially quit before you graduate to avoid this fee. Then the monthly fees ($13) keep coming (because you have to notify them thirty days in advance). They basically get an extra year fee from any senior because they know if they bill the yearly membership on June 1st, 99% will be too busy with other senior stuff to remember to write letter.Don't want to knock gym itself, because I know nothing about it, and my son never complained, but watch out for contract you sign.

Very depressing gym: all black equipment, black flooring, low traffic, filthy bathrooms, low ventilation. Had to swallow my pride and get a planet fitness membership. Enjoying it so far.I also would have to agree with the other complaints; money hungry. Yes, they do tell you upfront that there is an annual fee and that you have to mail a letter to cancel membership. I sent over my cancellation mail about 4 weeks ago (atleast) and they cancelled my membership 13 days ago. Maybe they just needed time to process things? Well, coincidentally, my monthly renewal date was 14 days ago, so I paid for last month and now I get to pay for another month. Maybe there was a problem in the mailing services? Well, the postal service is right down the street from the gym (10 minute drive) and I was informed that they would be sending it out “that day”. Anyways. Happy to close this chapter out of my fitness journey.Edit: 3 weeks after posting this review, I received an email notification that my membership was cancelled on 5/11/23, today. Why did it take over two months to process my membership cancellation?

I wanted to cancel my membership because I am pregnant and severely sick. Now I have to write a letter and send it out to be canceled. I was going to get a new membership when I was feeling better but I will not be doing that. This is ridiculous. I’d rather spend more money at a different gym that this point This is the 21st century nothing should have to be mailed. I also agree with the other comment, saying how scamy it is, that is a 30 day processing definitely trying to squeeze any last money from you, even though the owner commented back, saying it is part of the cancellation that was shown in the beginning, still messed up

This gym is kind of gross. Don't get me wrong, the staff is super nice and friendly and will even start up a conversation if you're nervous about being a first timer! But the cleanliness of the gym itself is not up to standard. I had noticed a lot of the people not cleaning their machines after using them. After letting staff know, nothing was done. The locker room (women's at least) hasn't been swept or mopped in at least a week and the changing rooms have trash and dirt all over the floor. The soap is never refilled right along with the toilet paper. If there comes a time the toilet paper is replaced, it's left on top of the dispenser and not put inside and little pieces are scattered all over the floor. It's a great gym for beginners, however, always clean your machines before AND after use and clean up after yourself in the locker room.
