I have had nothing but great experiences here. Maybe some people are negative because they come in with bad attitudes, or feel entitled to abuse the staff. (That could be the only reason they write such horrible reviews!)

I bought some trimmer line here. It wasn't scanning & the guy at the register said $40.00 - I thought it was expensive ... but I needed it. I checked the price later - $20 but the guy charged me $40! There's thieves working the register!! Yeah, I kept my receipt.
The guy who did this followed my wife and I around the store like we were criminals too!! WTH?
When theft was on his own mind, no wonder he was thinking we were out to steal from the place.

The owner Joe is a first class tard! Fudge him and his arrogant nasty attitude. Spend your money here and get treated like trash. The prices there are ridiculous. Save your money and yourself aggravation and go somewhere else.

Upon entering the "Shop-rite hardware", I was immediately met with a sense of dread, akin to that of a horror movie where the protagonist wonders, "Why did I come here?" Joe, the proprietor of this fine establishment, has a certain je ne sais quoi - if by "je ne sais quoi" you mean "bad attitude." He's got the customer service skills of a disgruntled honey badger, and the empathy of a cactus. To say that returns are frowned upon would be an understatement - Joe would rather wrestle a bear than take back that faulty hammer you bought last week.In the bizarro world of this hardware store, you'll find yourself browsing the shelves stocked with materials that have more miles on them than your granddad's old pickup truck. Most of these items seem to have been sourced directly from Aliexpress, the mystical land of questionable quality. The staff, too, is rather unique, with the majority of them seemingly around the tender age of 10, leaving you with the distinct feeling that you've wandered into a Dickensian workhouse. If you thought the age-old adage, "you get what you pay for," would apply here, think again! With prices more inflated than Joe's ego, you'll be left wondering why you didn't just go to a big-box store. But never fear, for Joe will be there to remind you of your mistake, berating customers with the finesse of a Shakespearean villain, all while sporting a grin that says, "I just love ruining people's days!"

Will NEVER go back the clown at the counter was a total J**** Understandably the glass I had could not be cut not a problem. He acted as if my being there was annoying to him. Later I found a piece that could be cut. Did I drive the less than a mile to go back to Shoprite Hardware. HELL NO. I drove to West Hartford 8 miles away to Capitol Glass. Woman at the counter gave me a warm smile and greeting. The price was great even left a tip. Will I ever go back to Shoprite Hardware Silas Deane Hwy Wethersfield. NEVERRRRRRRRRRRR.

Been wanting to post since a while ago. But just want to say the owner is rude has horrible customer service. I think he is racist to be straight to the point….. I have never returned to the store since the rude, non caring service I received. And I’m a minute away. I’d rather go somewhere further ???.

Came in to get some stuff and the young guys approached me and helped to the best of their ability. Some old guy (possibly owner) came over with by far the worst attitude not only towards his employee but me as well in front of other customers. I support small businesses, but after this experience, ace hardware is where I’ll be going.
