I have been a Webster customer for over 10 years.
Horrible banking experience at this location. I arrived at the bank at 2:55 my issue was not resolved and at 3pm they said they were closed for me to return the next day!

Avoid Called customer service w a simple question regarding an error they made but was disconnected twice. Phone chain pretty lengthy-more so than most. On 3rd try they did not recognize my social security # OR my line of credit acct # which i was reading from my statement. Once i got to a rep he said that to fix the problem caused by their error i had to physically go to the branch. Some customer service in 2023.! Got a supervisor who reiterated this. I asked him 3 times to confirm that they could not fix the problem but he stubbornly repeated his same mantra w different semantics. Would have been very easy to say " Yes" but he was more interested in repeating the mantra 3 or 4 times-a classic failure to acknowledge customer frustration. Conclusion: -Database is weak -Customer service not empowered to correct errors even those made by the bank -cust service line routinely hangs up on customer ( no call back) -supervisor not customer friendly All this for an error made by the bank w no ability or interest in solving the customer problem. 40 minutes to no resolution. Branch people have always been courteous etc but overall processes seem disjointed/broken. Go elsewhere

Something is really off here. I brought my 93 year old mom in since it's her bank. It seemed like total confusion even though there were only two customers and five people working there. No one seemed to know what they were doing. One teller did mention some new system and that the bank had merged a year ago but still, polite customer service should come first no matter what issues you may be having with your computers. All four (one stayed in her office) were curt and distracted and left us standing for quite some time since only one teller was waiting on customers. Each new customer seemed to bring some new major problem that could not be solved. We finally sat down after we were told our transaction would take some time. After ten more minutes of waiting and listening to loud ranting in Spanish by all the tellers and no one acknowledging us, I walked up to the counter again and was brusquely told that we could go to another bank since they didn't know how to do the transaction and it would take them a while to find out. No apology given and no consideration of what it took to get my elderly mother (who has considerable trouble walking) there in the first place. I'll never go back here. The parking is the worst too. We then went down the road to Bank of America and had a completely different experience. It was so pleasant there.

Go to people's bank! I have business accounts at this branch for my philanthropic hair care business Hair Business. They are now imposing fees to have a business account. The more I pay in fees, the less I can donate to charities. When I called and spoke to the manager, she was disturbed that I called and said she has had customers calling all week. I politely told her that I was sorry to disturb her day and that I would be moving my accounts in the next few weeks. She didn't care at all. Not a manger I would have. I called People's in Wilton and spoke to David, the manger, he was very pleasant and happy to take my call and guess what, no fees. He also is upgrading my accounts. I have had personal accounts at People's for years, I opened the business account at Webster's initially for the interest rate, that disappeared and fees appeared. This is certainly not the way a local bank should treat their customers. I will be moving my accounts in April.

Our contact at this branch, Fred W., has helped us a lot over the years with all kinds of financial needs. His business acumen is reliably impressive and helpful, and he's very responsive!
