They actually have two strength train together classes now so my last review no longer applies. The classes are really hard core and will make you feel amazing. The value of the membership is great. You get to go to so many different classes for the price of one class during each month.

My 5-year-old son has been taking swim lessons here for the past few months and my only regret is not signing up sooner. The instructors are kind, caring and professional. My son has already gained a lot of confidence, as well as safety skills and greatly looks forward to his weekly lesson. If there is an issue or confusion they will try their best and make it right. The SPLASH program is a wonderful community focused event that makes our local community awesome. We have also attended family events like Healthy Kids Day and had a wonderful time. The only thing I will say is the locker room situation is a little tricky with young children. I wish there were more closed family changing rooms. It can also be very crowded on the weekends and a few times our family has found this to be a bit overwhelming.

Ok so today while visiting with my kiddos my 13 year old daughter was mistaken to be a male and was asked to use the mens locker room! after me having to clarify she was biologically a female we went off to the pool…this was when I was upset. While teaching my 8 year old and 3 year old how to swim a nasty swim instructor snapped at my child for back stroking into her area accidentally. After this experience seeing behind the scenes the true character of swim instructors at this Y I will sign my kids up elsewhere. I’m hoping this was just a bad day and not racially motivated treatment towards my children. I’ll return to use the gym but as far as my kids I definitely do not feel they are welcomed at this facility!

People are using their phones in the men's locker room, complained to the front desk and was told they can't enforce the posted rule. That's a poor excuse if you use your phone you should lose membership. Its bad enough you let people sit on the equipment and play with their phones. That said the new fitness center great.

We recently renewed our membership after not having one for a couple of years. The facility changed dramatically, for the better. Bran new fitness center with updated machines. Nice layout. I only knocked my review down one star because they do not have childcare options in the afternoon/night like they used to. That really was an asset the YMCA offered, As working parents had the opportunity to put their kids in a safe and fun environment while they used the fitness center, and concentrated on their health. I was bummed (along with other members i have spoken to)I have to highlight the exceptional service we got from the receptionist, Sue. She Was extremely helpful,And I praised her on her ability to multitask while answering phones and helping in-person costumers. She was slammed, however, Answered all of my questions and manually helped me register my children for programs and restart my membership, along with MULTIPLE additional tasks i needed assistance on (i swear i am technology challenged!) Way to go Sue & to thank you for the great service experience at the Y!Brittany Fosque

As a senior, I can't say enough good things about the aquacize program. The new aquatics director, Andrea is fantastic!

This place - and my coach there, Ellen Nichele - saved my life. I'd fallen so far from being in shape three years ago when I began working out 3X a week, that I was seriously in fear for my life. Now I feel better than I deserve to, and look forward to my scheduled workouts as high points of my week. People are friendly, staff is friendly and helpful - and they're doing a big renovation that will make it even better. Best bargain on the shoreline when it comes to fitness.

“The Y is more than just a pool, a gym or wellness center. The Y is a community of caring individuals and of families where honesty, respect, responsibility and, where building character values are a priority.“ Couldn’t have said it any WORSE. My account was put on hold (which i obviously forgot about) and i was charged 32$ after 9 months of not going to the y for a single day. I didn't receive a single email, phone call, text message, etc notifying me that my hold was up. Instead i find out by seeing a charge on my account. Nice to know that the neighborhood YMCA operates as crooks. Im a full time college student and i work full time my ymca membership was the last thing on my mind. I called and asked if i could cancel my membership and get a refund for the charge. I was told no thats not possible for both requests. So now im making this to get a refund for the 32$ charge on my account and i would like my membership terminated and never to be reopened again because i will never come to the YMCA ever again. “The Y is more than just a pool, a gym or wellness center. The Y is a community of caring individuals and of families where honesty, respect, responsibility and, where building character values are a priority.” I have to laugh at this statement.

Awful place. Just came here and got my basketball stolen and had to pay $15 just to play for a few hours with my friends. Only court on the shoreline and I have to pay $15 to play for a few hours, disgraceful. This organization should be disgusted. Staff is also terrible as well, always cranky.

On an excellent recommendation, I hired Phil Read for the introductory 4-week personal training session. I damaged my elbow last year and was told he could help create a customized workout routine that would help strengthen the areas around my elbow, allowing it to heal.

If you crossed a Valley Girl with a Jersey Shore Girl, you'd have a Valley Shore Girl, and she might well work out here, at the gym named after her. That sounds hot. In some regards, this is not a bad YMCA, and I left some important stuff here (cellphone, Anker charger), and they saved it for me which was great, and saved me a lot of money and stress. I was able to go back and get it late at night, even when they were supposed to be closed. They didn't have any problem letting me in at closing time, and were pretty friendly about that. And pretty friendly in general. On the other hand some of the equipment is really old and several of us got kicked out when the section that we were using was needed for a class - and this kind of thing is a big No-No when you're paying members - so I'll give it a 4 but it could have easily gotten at 3 if they weren't so great about the stuff I left behind.
