We had a GREAT experience with the entire team at Forgotten Felines. Everything from the adoption process paperwork to visiting and seeing the cats at the facility and finally finding a cat to call our own. Thankyou all - Brian & Scott

Adopted two cats from here last week, and they've been great so far! The staff were very helpful and each knew the individual cats well so they could be up-front with any potential issues that could arise. It's clear to me that they are determined to see the cats go to the best possible homes. There was a minor hiccup with the online application (I never received an automated email response that it was received) and I wasn't sure if it had been sent, but apparently at least one of my three attempts made it through. Definitely recommend going on Saturdays to the open visitation hours, and following them on Facebook. Thanks again!

Going on our third cat from from this wonderful place. Just recently got a little cat that is now very much a part of our home and is on my lap every night. Forgotten Felines pays particular attention to detail when it comes to placing cats with families ensuring a perfect fit. I can't imagine it's an easy job. Sometimes a cat isn't the right choice for somebody. Kudos to all who devote their time to care for the magical animals.

Like many of the reviewers here, I have been a loving and responsible cat owner for over 20 years, so imagine my dismay (and heartbreak) when I was informed by Forgotten Felines (Westbrook) that I was NOT eligible to adopt a cat. What dismayed me even more was that this shelter was FILLED with cats waiting to be adopted, but the adoption staff there is completely dysfunctional. They take weeks to get back to you, and when they deny your application, they do not even give you the courtesy of providing a reason or even the opportunity for a discussion. I have no idea what their logic is, but their system is clearly not working. The cats in that shelter deserve better.Do not waste your time here. Go elsewhere where they treat you like caring cat owners who just want to love another cat.

My wife and I love forgotten felines. We've adopted 4 cats from this shelter over the last 6 years and they've all been lovely. Forgotten is a great place to find a new friend for your fur family. Our latest addition is sitting with me now and approves this review.

Beautiful place, friendly, committed volunteers who take great care of the cats. FF takes their screening process very seriously insuring their cats are well placed and they listened to me during the adoption process landing an A+ kitty who’s adjusting well.

Unfortunately, like many other reviewers, I made the mistake of filling out an application and visiting the shelter before I read the reviews.
I have been a loving cat owner for 25 years. Both of my previous cats were rescues, so imagine my surprise (and dismay), that I was told that I was "not eligible to adopt" at this shelter and no reason was provided.
It wasn't something my Vet or my reference said, because Forgotten Felines did not take the time to call either of them. I am 65 years old and in excellent shape, but I guess that does not count.
There is a reason that this shelter has so many cats. They seem to have no interest in actually having any of them adopted by loving families. WHY that is remains a mystery to me.

I cannot help but notice that all the favorable reviews are place in the front of the line, while all the disappointed and brokenhearted adopters who were denied a cat are all in the back of the line. I, like many, filled out an application and went to the shelter, only to be told that I was "not eligible" to adopt a cat from Forgotten Felines in Westbrook. The Saturday that I went I found 3 lovely adult cats that I was interested in. The volunteers were pleasant and helpful and everything seemed to be on-track until I received an email stating that I could not adopt. I have been a loving and caring cat owner for the past 25 years. Did my Vet say something that may have compromised my application ? Well, actually they never called my vet nor did they call my references. For reasons unclear to me, they arbitrarily decided that I was not worthy. And for whatever it is worth, almost a month after my visit, all 3 of the cats that I identified are still at the shelter.

My application to adopt was denied and they did not disclose why. I am a prior cat owner, my apartment complex allows pets, I have no other animals or children, I have previously volunteered at a non-profit animal shelter, and have a well paying job. I am the ideal cat owner. When I visited, I was surprised at the poor living environment and care of the cats. For example, they did not isolate cats that had a history of attacking others, or provide solitude to those who were visibly uncomfortable with other cats. There were cats with matted fur, and cats who were severely obese but continuously being given treats and laughed at by the volunteers (who were very nice but extremely attached to the cats.)There were easily over four dozen cats across four rooms and connecting patio (significantly more than listed online), but strangely, no one other than myself was looking to adopt at the time.Clearly, this shelter has more cats than they are able to properly care for, so why are they so selective in their adoption process? While verbiage in their application process states they do not need to disclose why they decline an application, it's very suspicious that they put that clause there to begin with.In my opinion, Forgotten Felines is hoarding cats. Good luck trying to successfully adopt a cat, that desperately needs a new home.

Horrible experience, i would give no stars if I could!!!! I texted with a lady for two days. Scheduled for a day to come down meet the cat and fill out the paperwork to adopt. I DROVE TWO HOURS TO ADOPT THIS CAT AND SHE WOULD NOT REPLY WHEN I GOT DOWN THERE. I drove two hours and waited 40 minutes for the place I was supposed to go to because she didn’t tell me or give me any information. In my opinion it was very unprofessional and irresponsible. Will never be using them to adopt again!!! Seems very much a scam to me! Huntsville AL

I had a great experience with Forgotten Felines. I visited two Saturdays during the Open Adoption events. There were so many wonderful kitties. The volunteers vetted my info and called me back in about a week. Shortly after, I picked up my baby boy. I couldn’t recommend them more.

I have adopted 2 wonderful cats from Forgotten Felines. I will never go anywhere else when I’m looking for a new furry friend! The volunteers are incredible and put their hearts and souls into caring for every cat there. Everyone is so wonderful to work with as well throughout the adoption process. I can’t say enough great things about them! I highly recommend adopting their adult cats. Both of my adult cats are such sweet babies thanks to the care and love they received there.

My wife and I have been fans and followers of Forgotten Felines of Connecticut for many years. We have adopted from them and had a wonderful experience. The kind volunteers take such good care of the cats in their care they let us spend as much time as we like with all of them. We have always enjoyed visiting them and making a donation of food, treats and a toy or two. Their no kill shelter insures that they will be well cared for and loved. Their facility is very welcoming, clean and they even have a "Catio" so they can get fresh air and the feeling of being outdoors yet still be protected. When you visit you will be greeted by many happy cats. If you are considering adopting a cat looking for their furever home, please contact them.

This is the best rescue I have ever been to, with the happiest rescue kitties due to their great compassionate care. Forgotten Felines has the most amazing volunteers, supporters, immaculate areas for the cats, a "catio" for fresh air, and many catwalks up high for the kitties who want a great view of their surroundings. Their beds, food and toys are the very best, too! They have great veterinary care, compassionate caregivers and are so great at matching a cat to a family! This is so important for the cat's happiness! My rescue had been keeping herself away from other cats for two years at the rescue, as she had been feral. When they started working with her, she decided that she actually likes to be brushed and pet! Our "Lucky" as they named her, is the center of our universe, because they knew she would thrive in my quiet household. I let her live on her own terms, with no other pets, never picking her up, letting her come and get the attention she needed, and kept her surroundings calm. Now, she really loves attention, and is the best kitty I could have ever hoped for! Thank you, Forgotten Felines, for your beautiful care of these kitties. I couldn't be more proud of you! I tell everyone about you guys.

My family recently adopted a cat (Twinnie) from Forgotten Felines and I was so impressed with the overall cleanliness of the shelter and loved that the cats have large rooms with access to outdoor screened areas to roam. The staff is amazing and truly care about the cats. They are also very selective and do a thorough job when selecting the right family for the cat! if at anytime in the future we decide to adopt again we would go right back to them!
