Early Aug. '19, I bought a Ranger tug boat from them, that is, they were brokering the sale. On the day of delivery, the boat wouldn't start. We spent a couple hours trying to figure it out. Someone removed a fuse, reset, etc, and the boat started. We took it out and it ran well until we turned the engine off. It wouldn't start again, so we were stranded. We called Brewer's Westbrook, and their broker/agent; we left a message, asked him to call us back. He didn't. We then texted him we'd tow the boat back to the marina and to please call us back. No response. That's the person who said Brewer's stands behind all their products and services. It turns out they knew about "this problem" with the engine. Yet, they didn't disclose it to us, and, worse, they let us take the boat out on the Long Island sound. The Volvo Penta engine's electronics had a faulty component that would make the engine not start, turn off randomly, and generally act up. We investigated and found out that they knew about this.Oh, and the person who the Brewer's agent recommended for financing the purchase turned out to be unprofessional, rude, and did a shoddy work. Over a month later, I haven't received the papers for the boat.... a "service" they charged me $350 for (they'd register the boat with the DMV).This was my first boat purchase but over all a very bad experience for me.... I hope others who may want to deal with them are aware of such problems.
