Be forewarned that this is a very popular local post office and usually has long lines. I prefer this post office; however, because the staff are invariably hardworking, knowledgeable, and professional. I regularly have to send packages to my daughter at her university in another country. Like my local mail mailed from this office, items mailed to this and other distant locations always arrive quickly and intact.Thank you to everyone at this location!

The staff are wonderful but there is no competent management. If you are going to deal with passports at this location then at least add a person to the counter. Is that so hard for a manager to understand. A passport can easily tie up staff as the line builds up and people get testy and start shouting. A disaster in the making.Does anyone know the best way to reach the right person who can respond to the long list of similar complaints through better management? If so, please post

Terribly run and badly managed. Had someone with a Passport appointment take up the only person collecting mail and issuing postage causing at least ten people to wait for nearly half an hour. Always understaffed, rarely competent enough to answer difficult questions. Service is so slow compared to most Post Offices. Someone ought to step in and fix!

I would give 0 stars if I could, extremely rude attendant, filled out my information wrong, I have never been treated so poorly before anywhere else.

My mail was not forwarded to my NY address. My house taxes in CT. I never received so I called town Hall Aug 1st to let them know I never got notified. I immediately paid the house taxes. What's going on in the Bishops Corner Post office . it needs looking into.

I've been here several times, and the staff have been exceptionally kind and helpful. Shout out to Stacey who went out of her way to help me ship an important package today after another branch had refused shipment because of the packaging (the wrong kind of USPS box, apparently). Thank you for saving the day!

I gave it 5 stars b/c I keep my expectations aligned to gov't office standards. At any post office, I expect stale air quality, bewildered customers w/ unreasonable requests, outdated machinery, and employees who'll enjoy every last millisecond of their lunch-break before getting on an open register to help a coworker who's tending to a line so long it starts next-door. This place has all that and more. Throw in a manager-type who I once overheard tell a guy "well, there's just too many houses on the route" to explain why that guy hadn't received mail in a few days. BUT, at the end of the day, this specific office has easy lot-parking, ample mailing supplies, clean countertops, a few employees who are pretty solid, and you know what? your items will eventually get to where they need to go.

Had no clue what I was doing when I walked in and Suma lead me through every step and I now feel comfortable with using the post office! Awesome experience!

They have messed up my hold mail so many times with conflicting excuses each time. Twice while my mail was being held it was delivered and twice there was mail in my box for other people.I am now paying a neighbor kid to pick up my mail from my box. The 14 year old is more reliable

Extremely inefficient. You MUST allow yourself at least 30 minutes to ship anything here or even purchase stamps. Super frustrating but at the end of the day it is what it is....I've only been here twice but it is obvious to me why they have horrible ratings both thumbs down for me!

I've used the post office in Bishop's Corner for many years to mail out packages all over the US, as well as to several European countries and to Australia. This is a very convenient location if you're in West Hartford, they also have plenty of parking available. It of course depends on when you're going, if it'll be a long wait or a quick and easy run. Most of the time if I'm mailing a package within the US, it's a very quick and painless process, but If it's an international package, they'll want me to get out of line to fill out a customs form, then come back to the counter. Meanwhile all the people in line are looking at me as if I'm getting special treatment. Try to avoid purchasing boxes or padded envelopes at the post office, these are significantly overpriced, and they can be found at many other places at a much lower cost. I can't say the lady I encountered working there today was the most pleasant, she said to me "so many people here give me anxiety.." I'm not sure how to react to this, post offices are very busy and people can get moody. This is a post office, you can get your passport here and you can purchase stamps. It serves its purpose, some packages are very expensive to mail out, but I can't blame the post office for that.

Completely inept and in competent. Had an appointment to get passport completed with the shield Street post office. When we arrived, we were told our appointment has been moved to the Bishops corner post office. After waiting in line for 20 minutes at the Bishops corner post office, we were informed that they would not honor our appointment. Even though there was someone available to complete our passport, they still would not honor the appointment. Completely unprofessional and poorly managed. I would stay away from this branch.
