The Big Y in Bishop's Corner is unique in that it has products and a special area to support the local Jewish community. That said, it is smaller and relatively dated compared to other Big Y stores. The staff are friendly and helpful.

I had a really frustrating experience with a bakery order and when I vocalized the issue, Roberto took the time to speak with me and was so understanding and accomodating and really went above and beyond to make sure we have a better experience the next time. I think this was likely the most authentically positive customer service experience I have ever had. Definitely would go back to order the next time we have an event.

Big Y has the best grocery in store bakery in the Hartford area, providing many options for fresh bread, rolls, cakes, pies and cookies. In my opinion, Big Y’s in store baked goods are better than Whole Foods, Stop & Shop and the other chains in the area. They also supplement with baked goods from some local/regional bakeries, like Lyman Orchards apple pie. I love the snow flake rolls and Challah. I’ve also gotten several people hooked on their chocolate chip cookies. Great choices for when you do not have time to bake!

Conveniently located on 218 in west hartford.
Offers good selection of a variety of foods and cards and deli. Restrooms are clean. Good supermarket

Clean and good sales. No Starbucks inside. Bottle deposit can be annoying because it fills up so fast and they can get it working but it does make a large selection of brands over other stores.

I went in today to order a graduation cake for my daughter and after speaking to 2 employees in the bakery, I honestly had to walk away because I could not wrap my head around the lack of basic knowledge and customer service I was provided with. It was like pulling teeth. They weren't able to answer questions or add suggestions or minimally provide me with a little reassurance so that I could feel confident that I was leaving an important task in good hands. Neither one of them even cared that they missed out on a cake order and had the most unbothered faces on them. WORLD CLASS EMPLOYEES. Disappointed would be an understatement.
