Waiting and waiting. Signed in and only two people working at the desk. Not even good afternoon or will be with you soon. I really dislike this bank with a passion.

I have been with Charter Oak for almost a decade. I left big banks for a credit union to receive better customer service and less nickel and dime fees. Recently, Charter Oak has pushed me away. I love to travel and use my bank Visa. The foreign transaction fees are horrible. Pair this with the fact that they don't have 24 hour customer service means that traveling is difficult. Today I closed three of my four accounts with them and opened an account at a local bank with no fees and 24 hour service.

Thank you, Charter Oak for taking care of your customers. If there is anyway I can help, don't hesitate to call.

This bank is only concerned about getting your overdraft fees I bet they make more money charging people overdraft fees then they do on the loans that they don't Grant to people I guess being a member for 15 plus years and putting up my truck valued at about fifty Grand on a small loan was laughable to them

When it comes to fraud/ scams they don’t protect enough . I went to make a payment and found out it was not the actual site. Quickly noticed 2 transactions I did not authorize . They told me to contact their number and try to fix it since I initiated the transaction before they can do anything …they told me to call the scammers which were asking me for my social security ! Such a joke . I am going to def go to another branch .

I joined the Niantic Branch in mid-2019. Initially I had good experiences with the Branch. Unfortunately post covid i have watched the branch's service window narrow. Lobby hours have been cut and Saturday hours have been eliminated at this branch. The 1990s era atm machines are so antiquated that we are unable to deposit checks and cash directly, but have to deposit them in an envelope and then wait until an employee opens them at a later date and inputs them manually. This can mean days before the customer has access to their cash deposit. In addition the online banking system is at best wonky. I registered a trip to Europe with the online banking system - so that I could insure access to funds while I was aboard. While in Europe my card was declined EVERY time I attempted to use it despite registering my trip with the bank. Luckily my other credit and bank cards did not have this issue. The final straw - the Online Check submission system caused a 10 day delay on a check from a household brand name Financial Services Company. Thinking this must be a mistake i visited branch in person to obtain help in this matter. Rather than attempting to help me with the problem caused by their faulty system - I was treated as a nuisance - dismissed by the incredibly rude manager who would not bother to speak with me nor even look at me or acknowledge my issue. I then visited the main branch of the COFCU and spoke with management there. They addressed my issue an were able to effect a solution within a few minutes. I was a big fan of Charter Oak Federal Credit union, but unfortunately the rude and neglectful service I experienced from the "manager" of my local branch has driven me to bank elsewhere.

Let me preface this by stating that I am a fan of credit unions in general and strongly believe in their value to the community. I was a big fan of Charter Oak Federal Credit union, but unfortunately the rude and neglectful service I experienced from the "manager" of my local branch has driven me to bank elsewhere. My advice: If you have to do business with the Niantic Branch you would be better served using any of the several other banks or credit union within a 3 minute drive. I recommend Dutch Point Credit Union and Liberty Bank, both staffed with professional and courteous employees. Andrew T

This is for Charter Oak overall, not a specific location. Poor IT support and I have had a very difficult time simply getting paperwork from them to close out an account.

I went for a job interview a few months back and the only person that was nice was the front desk. Other than that there is clearly discrimination I felt from the people interviewing me. Felt like the Rooney rule give a person of color a interview but don't intend on giving him the job. I won't step foot in that place again. ?

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is the worst. Do not bank here. This is the 4th time in a year I've been left without access to my account without explanation. Last time I was without a debit card for two weeks. They sent a replacement card to the wrong address. So they sent a replacement replacement card. Instead of cancelling the card at the wrong address, they cancelled its replacement. I like to keep my money local, but the ineptitude is not worth it. My debit card was just declined on a $3 purchase. After apologizing with embarrassment I called the 800 # on the back of the card because it's 5:07pm and the branches are closed. I was told that my card was reported as stolen. I'm literally holding it. Not that there was fraudulent activity, mind you. Rather that it was stolen. I indicated I did not file a report and asked if the rep could tell me who reported it stolen. Or when it was reported stolen. Nope. No info. So tomorrow I get to interrupt my work day, leave the office and head to a branch. And I get to wait for another debit card to be mailed and *fingers crossed* hope they get it right the first time. Then, yet again, I get to update all my accounts: Netflix, Ipsy, etc etc etc etc. I can't wait to receive a payment declined email a month from now from a company for which I forgot to update. So much unnecessary hassle and frustration. Not. Worth. It. Closing my account and finding a competent credit union ASAP.
