Adopted my dog from Waterbury Animal Control in January 2024. The process is quick and easy and she's an amazing pup. Please check here before a breeder!

Called them at 11am about a stray dog in my yard. I was told they would send someone out but I needed to be home as they can not trespass. Fast forward 4 hours later, no one came out. Called them back and was told to go about my day, they had no idea when someone would come out l. Could be today or tomorrow as they are short staffed. DO BETTER WATERBURY ANIMAL CONTROL!!

I bought my beautiful dog a year and a half ago. Best thing I did, she was a great pet, unfortunately she passed away last week. ?

Staff is not as helpful to people or animals as they could be, also practices favoritism towards who they want to serve, ie so called rescue groups who get the dogs they want for nofer and sell them for large amounts of money, animals should not be a marketable commodity.

Absolutely disgusting woman answering the phone here. Had a poor cat dying in the hot sun on the street. Called with no answer so I decided to move the cat into the shade onto my property. Called back an hour later to be told they will do nothing because I moved the cat from city property to private property. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. I asked again that the reason they wouldnt come help this cat was because i moved it 10 feet from the hot asphault to the shade under a tree in my yard. She then got snotty and said she didnt know why I moved the cat. These people apparently just treat living animals like the rest of the trash on the streets in Waterbury. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

More effort in public relations would help. More effort in finding homes for dogs or adoption agencies is necessary. If you are adopting a dog these places are not for the faint of heart.

Wonderful people. They really care about the dogs. They play with the dogs and help them socialize going back for another pound puppy. Thank you for all your work

The shelter is very very packed the dogs have inside and outside places to go in each kennel but the kennels aren't particularly that big it looks well maintained they have a field next to it and the officers were very nice they even bring their own dogs in..... They also did not pass judgment for the situation I was in being out of town and at work..just make sure you call and ask them how much it's going to be ahead of time and bring proper cash because the pound does not carry change
