Driving up The Mayflower is stunning and the overall decor is gorgeous. We sat outside on a crisp fall night but assumed when agreeing to do so that heaters would be on. It took another guest requesting the heaters to be turned on and for us to request a table lamp (as no outside lights were on) for the staff to notice and oblige. While the service was a bit slow the server was very friendly. The food quality does not fit the price tag. We ordered the chicken Caesar salad and the chicken was dry and not seasoned well. We also ordered the burger and it was rather small. Not at all worth the value in my opinion.

The staff was outstanding and the inn and grounds are beautiful. The spa was the best I'd ever seen. My $26 cocktail was amazing. Dinner was good, not earth shattering. That's the only reason for the four stars. It's definitely luxury pricing. Glad we went.

Very disappointed in our bartender. ( not Bobby) It was like being in the back room. We waited patiently while he trained a ( very nice girl) how to make drinks. Hum, when I go to an elite bar I do expect to be treated with respect. And because of his rudeness we did not stay for dinner. Sadly, We were planning to have a family event at this Inn. Today, we left after one drink (which he made us pay for when we said we were going to step outside) another insult and just not expected. So think twice! Went to White Horse Tavern.

Excellent service, beautiful setting, food was good, but at that price point food should be great. I'd still go back as there are only so many nice restaurants in the area - and you can get into this one in the summer! The negative reviews are overblown; you'll enjoy the evening.

Food not great or certainly not for what you would expect from an auberge property. Very mediocre. The bar is charming. Hotel lobby is pretty. Staff is well meaning but extremely green and young. Meal for three one drink no desserts was two hours. Service was absolutely embarrassing.

For a hotel of this caliber and price point we were surprised at the mediocre quality of the food. The mussels were tasteless, the black bass surrounded by mushroom caps was bland and one of the most unappetizing looking dishes I've ever seen. ( they were out of the snapper I ordered. ) . I will give good marks for the fries and the sorbet, but it was generally disappointing. The barmen were very attentive and helpful, the bright spot.

Food was awful ! Fish was an edible and the $78 steak was cold when it came out. we later found out that the head chef had left and they had a temporary chef there until the new chef was coming, which was this coming Wednesda

Falling standards all round. Valet not there to park the car. The food choices in the Tap bar were very limited. The standby hamburgers that were always expensive but delicious, were miserable. The California Cabernet less than ordinary.

Lovely overall. We had a few drinks (good) along with olives, the burger (very good) and a kids pasta (good). Service was good as well.

Snaggged a table same day in the tavern, which was hopping. Felt lucky to get a table in a quiet corner. Exceptional service and excellent food. Chips with leek powder, potato soup, sea bass and salted honey ice cream were among our favorites.

Overall the Mayflower Inn gave a vibe that although the facility had a heavy investment at some point in the very distant past, all recent upkeep, or lack there of, has been performed at an extreme budget. The Tap Room held this same appearance of quality, while the reality of my experience was average food, provided in extremely small portion sizes, and at extremely high prices. Specifics: - The $25+ drinks, each, were average quality and smaller. We did not order a second round.. - The 1/2 DZN shrimp, at $24, were large but nothing special. Came with the same sauces as the raw oysters. - The "washington" Caesar salad consisted of full stalks of iceberg lettuce, lacked a richness to the caeser dressing that you would expect to be amazing at such an establishment. $22.. - The Cavatelli pasta was tasty, yet the portion of PASTA was palm sized. $29! - The Green Beans and cheesy fries were the climax of the meal. Likely the bulk of our calorie intake, tasty, and "only" $14 each. - For the "main course" we chose the Black Sea Bass. For $48 you get a small sea bass, not much thicker than 1/4", no longer than 6 inches (excluding the tail), tail and skin fully intact on 1 side. After deciding to eat with the skin on, I had to battle a minefield of bones, both spines and vertebrates! It was almost tasteless and more of an appetite killer than anything. This meal was a well planned event for my wife's birthday. We had no budget constraints for this meal and yet we found ourselves struggling to choose what to order. Everything but the al la carte sides (green beans & cheesy fries) were very disappointing! $250+ spent and we left unsatisfied and hungry. Even if money was limitless, the Tap Room has terrible value. Just donate your money to the facility, say you ate there, and then go find a quality meal elsewhere.

It has been several months since I last dined here and the food quality and service has improved tremendously. The quality of food was immensely better since the new chef came on board. The trout was perfectly cooked and prepared with a nice side sauce. The salads were flavorful and bright. The Brussels sprouts were savory and well balanced. The plating was a little spare. I think the visuals of the plates could boost the overall experience. The service was kind and attentive.

We made a 7:45 reservation but when we arrived we were told it would be a 10 minute wait so we should get a drink at the bar, which we did. 30 minutes later, we still were not seated so I asked the hostess for a status update. I was told the table would be just a few minutes longer (the diners were finishing desert). Another 17/18 minutes went by and we were finally seated. Then, it was another 7 or 8 minutes before anybody took out order. So, all in, we waited an hour before being able to order our food. We were not provided any apology, or offered a complimentary drink, or dessert. To keep people waiting an hour is absolutely unacceptable, but it's very poor form to not acknowledge this wait with some type of complimentary drink as a means of ensuring valued customers want to return to your establishment.
