Monthly charges are excessive if you don’t sign multi year contracts. Then if you have to move before your contract is up you’re screwed

Very bad experience. Equipment was not installed correctly from the first day. We cancelled within three business days of the contract. ADT continued to bill us for three months. Multiple phone calls to ADT each time being assured that our cancellation was in place only to be billed again. Very happy with Alarm New England.

This company hires people who lie and do not care about helping the customer. My husband and I have spent over 50 hours on the phone with ADT from June 23rd to today, July 31st. The same issue we have been calling about for over a month, is still not resolved. We wanted to transfer ADT service to our new home. However, after over a month of attempts, the self setup home hub kit that was sent to us at our new home is still not able to be set up. The hub has never been able to connect to wifi after going to extreme lengths to try and connect it.We were charged $210.57 on June 23, 2023 to pay for the self setup home hub kit, and we have two charges of $34.55.We were charged $34.55 on July 7th, 2023 and also on July 29th, 2023. This is unacceptable. Even if we did have an active system, we were only supposed to be billed once a month. We have two charges for July that already came out of our bank account. In our contract it states we have 3 days after setting up the system to request a refund. We were never able to set it up. In addition, we know there is a 6 month money back guarantee. We need a refund for the three charges and we want to stop all service with ADT.

2 months after having our security system activated, 8 of the sensors don't work. We called to get service, booked an appointment and waited at the house during the 2 hour window they gave us. Nobody showed up for the appointment. We called to find out what happened. The woman that answered the phone was very aggressive. She told us that since we used the old equipment that was here when we bought the house, they won't come to repair it. She reminded me that we have a 3 year contract and we can't get out of it. So we have a security system that doesn't work and 2 years and 10 months left on the contract. Avoid ADT at all costs. Trust me, the good price isn't worth the contact and no support.

Been with ADT for 15 years and just moved into a new home. When we called to transfer service, nobody told us about the loyalty program or anything that we are entitled to for being a customer so long. Then the tech came, installed 3 glass breakers and billed us $318. We tried 4 times to reach customer service last week and kept getting transferred then disconnected. I spent nearly 90 minutes on the website chat trying to reach someone in account services. They said I need to call. Called the account services number, waited on hold 44 minutes and got a representative. The line was distorted and I was having trouble understanding what she was saying. She said she needed to "clear the line" and would call me right back. She repeated my number back to me and said this is her "only job" and would "call me right back". That was over a half hour ago. Arguably the worst customer service of any company I've dealt with. Stay clear. UPDATE* "
[email protected]" responded saying they tried to call us 4 times" (which they didn't. When we said we would like to cancel our service, they said -"Please note that all cancellation requests require a 30 day notice. Additionally, terminating service early will generate a final balance of 75 percent of the remaining contract terms. Your new service agreement does not expire until 12/20/2025. " So essentially threatening us. Awesome. Just another reason for anyone considering ADT to stay clear. Pretty terrible.

ADT is the most dishonest company I have ever done business with. They also own a company called Defenders. It’s a “license distributor/vendor” they use as their thugs to do their dirty work and then claim it wasn’t them. The majority of ADT clients have absolutely NO idea that it wasn’t ADT that installed their system and have to find out the hard way. I know, I’m sure it’s hard to believe. Do your research and look at this Defenders company. If you like throwing money away, being lied to and scammed then ADT is right for you! Please, Google ADT/Defenders lawsuits before doing business with them and DO NOT just take it from ADT customer service because they will lie to you and say anything to get your business. Look it up and see for yourself.

Be warned ! You see ADT signs on many lawns still & they claim 145 yrs of business history but they charge ever increasing monthly monitoring fees with no product support/ service ! You have to figure out what batteries sensors need & find them on your own. But all this pales in comparison with the run around & hoops that they make you jump through when you move & want to cancel ! OMG . Called them a week before our move & took 45 mins with dropped calls & transfers to extensions that don't pick up to finally the one dept that can cancel yr subscription. Thank goodness I INSISTED on getting a confirmation # before my phone ordeal ended !
Fast forward 2 months .....we have moved to our new house & no big ADT bills to deal with - or so we thought because ADT continued to bill my credit card for monthly monitoring. Challenged the charges but then got a collection notice from ADT !
It took me on another round of phone futility talking to seven (7) different people over several days & spending 2 hrs total to finally get someone to check my confirmation # see that I indeed did cancel my service except that person I spoke to DIDNT process it.
You will find & read other horror stories of ADT customers trying to cancel their service so be warned .Ever Increasing monthly fees, no support & they put you thru hell itself when you go to cancel !

Terrible. Go with SimpliSafe instead. ADT will raise your monthly charges when you're not looking and then they make it nearly impossible to cancel. On hold 30 minutes and counting just to cancel the account. You cannot cancel your ADT account online - not possible. When I started with ADT I was billed $28 per month. Now they are billing me $78 / mo.!!!

I would give zero starts if I could. They have perfected the art of avoiding responsibility. When you have an issue it will get pushed from desk to desk. They make numerous mistakes from billing to the installment. Empty promises will be made to call you back. This company is the absolute worst.

We just sold our house and went to cancel our service with this company that we used for the past nine years. We were told 3 months ago that we needed to have our system upgraded which we did. We asked what would happen if we sold our house and we're told that the company hoped the new owners would continue with the service.... Never once did the salesperson say that we would be responsible to pay off the three year contract they had us sign If we sold our house. So, today we're out over $1,000.00. We feel disgusted, ripped off and needless to say, pissed off. Watch yourselves! Read the fine print and don't believe the salespeople. I hope they all choke on their deceitful business practices. I'd give them a zero. Stay away!
