As an animal owner all my life, I would like to express how Amazing Dr. Belair and her staff are! I decided after a not so pleasant experience with a different location, to search for a new place to care for my family (my pups). I found Pachaug animal hospital and I'm so glad I did! The facility is super clean, the staff are always helpful and smiling. My dogs are never uneasy when walking in and that itself speaks volumes!

If I could give this place a zero star review, trust me I would. I took my dog here for years. But I changed his vet when they wouldn’t refund me for a flea collar that almost killed my dog. Then they never called me to inform me that my dog TESTED POSITIVE FOR LYME DISEASE.!if you care at all about your fur children DO NOT take them here.

If your pet has a problem that is marginally more complicated than say, a urinary tract infection, expect to get wishy-washy answers, shortly followed by bad advice. If you fail to follow the bad advice, because maybe you think there's a better way, expect to be blamed for that on a subsequent visit. If you do follow the bad advice, you'll likely to be sent to an area emergency vet who will charge you a kidney and your firstborn over an extensive process that will take months, give you false hope, and exhaust your finances. When you return to Pachaug, having followed the bad advice, and now having a pet that likely needs to be euthanized, be prepared to be blamed for following the bad advice you got there- to the letter. Then be prepared to watch your best furry friend get mutilated as the good doctor fails- over and over- to "find a vein"- and eventually be told to leave the room because the only real recourse at this point to give your beloved pet a restful end is going to be quite ugly. Be prepared afterwards, as your grief recedes, to compare notes with others who've had similar experiences with animals that had to eventually be euthanized by this doctor to describe having the precise experience you did ("can't find a vein" over and over) despite that pet arriving at that juncture under completely different circumstances.I don't say any of this lightly. My wife and I have had many pets over many years, and we've loved them all dearly. Never in all those years have I had such difficulty with any Veterinarian over getting them to care, to participate in the ongoing health of our pets, and you know, not compound the guilt we already feel over arriving at the most unfortunate set of circumstances with even more guilt- seemingly related to their own lack of competence, personal problems, or whatever else is getting in the way there. The staff here, I want to be clear, do their best. They even stepped in several times when the doctor's compete lack of bedside manner was on full display at the worst possible moments. They clearly have put caring for animals first, and that is the way it should be done.But- in being clear- I must also say: this is not a place I would take a pet by choice, and certainly not if it really mattered. I would go almost anywhere else first, and if I were in a place where I was relying on doctor Belair to advise me what is best for my pet, I'd seek a second opinion- at the very least.

Love this place! Everyone is super friendly and prices is very reasonable!! Our doctor is great! It’s much more affordable than other animal hospitals. My dogs always enjoy coming here and they have a huge waiting room with lots of artwork.

If you are looking for a kind and compassionate vet, go somewhere else. Patchaug Animal has suffered since losing original owner, Dr. Gay. Not available for our pets two times during an emergency. Sent us somewhere else.

Dr. Belair is all about the money. She has treated her employees like trash. I've heard her talk down to people on the phone, clients, employees, basically anyone anytime she wants. I was fired for no reason after being there for longer than she has even been a doctor, after being told I was gonna have a performance review on 1/9/22. As soon as I walked in the building she approached me with the office manager and said I was no longer employed there, handed me my dog's records and said I would be escorted out by the office manager. When I asked what I did, she said...."You're just not the direction I want to go moving forward with this company.".Two weeks later I asked for all my pets records and she wouldn't let them send them to me.
