My go to location. Good store but they need to hire more staff. Not fond of the manager Jen as I've seen her not pitch in and help when store gets super busy as I've seen other managers chip in.

Every time I order, things are substituted after I put down no substitute! Today I ordered the Vitamin water, buy 5, get 5 free. They substituted with a 6 pack! How is that getting 5 free? I put no substitute so they should not have taken it upon themselves to substitute 6 for the 10 I wanted. I would have not bought any! Will never shop on line here again. I’ll go to Big Y or ShopRite where the orders are correct!

Coming from Litchfield and a smallish S&S there, we find this store to be at least twice as large with a correspondingly larger stock of everything. So convenient. And this store carries a much enhanced selection of items that are not just S&S brands, something that annoys us in Litchfield. Prices seem to be lower and higher than Litchfield, proving for sure that we-don't-know-what. We haven't interacted enough with employees here, though they seem friendly and helpful enough when we've visited. We do find the Litchfield folks to be super courteous and friendly, in spite of our issues with the store itself; we wish we could transport this store to Litchfield and keep the Litchfield employees. And yes, that's about as useless a comment as could be imagined which probably helps no one who bothers to read this. Our apologies, but don't know what else to write. Let's go get a drink....

Management needs to get their act together. The shelves are bare. Produce and meats always run out of items. They can't blame it on Covid because why is Big Y and other grocers always stocked? Come on guys, you need to take care of your customers! Oh, it would be nice if you have more cashiers, especially during the holidays. Duh!

Literally the worst experience I have ever had at a store before. Can’t even get a person to come empty the bottle and can return machines, instead we shake them then they are good for another 5 bottles and the girl disappears after giving me and my fiancé an attitude. It’s your job. I am a garbage man, you think I get an attitude when somebody puts an extra bag or two out? No I pick it up as it is MY JOB. We are currently sitting out here going on 45 minutes now and still haven’t been able to return more then 5-15 cans/bottles at a time. Will NEVER come back if something isn’t done

We almost always shop at this Stop & Shop. We were there yesterday, it was fairly busy and all customers were wearing their masks properly. However, I had to ask a woman in the deli working on our order to pull up her mask over her nose (which she did). She came back over to ask me a question, again her mask was below her nose. I politely asked her again to cover her nose, she did but the tone of her response was somewhat angry. A man working in the deli preparing orders for pick up had his mask below his nose the entire time I was there. These people are working with unpackaged foods! I went to the service desk and voiced my concern, the person at the service desk said she would pass on my complaint to a manager. As we made our way through the store, we encountered 4 more employees wearing their masks below their noses. Apparently Stop & Shop does not care that employees could infect customers by improperly wearing their masks. At least all the customers wore their masks properly. Stop & Shop is being negligent by not properly supervising their employees and putting the public at risk during a pandemic.

Packaged hard rolls are absolutely terrible. Bought one package on Sunday with a sell by date of April 23rd. Opened package Sunday night for a sandwich and they were moldy. Returned them on Monday but could not get a refund. I had to take another package dated April 27th. Opened package on Tuesday night for a sandwich......yup MOLDY again.

Packaged hard rolls are absolutely terrible. Bought one package on Sunday with a sell by date of April 23rd. Opened package Sunday night for a sandwich and they were moldy. Returned them on Monday but could not get a refund. I had to take another package dated April 27th. Opened package on Tuesday night for a sandwich......yup MOLDY again. ?. Took them back to store this morning and got no satisfaction. Threw them on customer service desk and left discussed. This is so unacceptable and very poor customer service. I would like to say first, I love going to Stop & Shop. I regularly go to the one in Winsted and figured I would give Torrington a try as there seems to be more selection. On a positive note, the store seems to be always clean. I've run into a few problematic situations at this Stop & Shop that I would like to specifically address though. First is an incident that I witnessed regarding an employee and employee. I don't believe I caught her name but I witnessed her speaking and being incredibly rude to another staff member. In addition, with COVID-19 now, I notice many staff members have their masks on to protect themselves and their customers. I notice one particular staff member did not have a mask on and my mother and I felt extremely unsafe near her. I visited the store today and I believe her name is (Lingzhi) was at self check-out. She stood there ignoring that I needed assistance at the self-check-out. She walked away from her post to try to avoid to assist me. I stood there waiting until a kind staff member named Gemilssy assisted me. I recognize that there are many stressors during this time, however, each time I come here there's a problem. I would recommend after COVID-19 is over to have staff attend training regarding racism and customer service skills.

I'm giving you a one star after years of shopping with you. My reason for not going there after 20 years is your employees. One employee in particular should not be working around children. He is known for saying hurtful things to 12 year olds which she discussed with her therapist. "I hope you die" is not appropriate period. Second this kid took a knife and stabbed himself in the leg in front of her and 4 other people which caused a ambulance to come and put these children into a frenzy. Should have never happened. He burned their clothes and threatened to burn their baby brothers ashes more as we struggled for hours to get them away from him while the 12 stood in horror! He had to be restrained 5 times that day. He does herion and smokes weed. I witnessed the weed smoking. Is your company hiring without drug testing?.we will not visit your store while this person is employed there, in fact my family of 72 members here in town stopped going to this store and word is spreading rampant about Mr Ronald Underwood. My suggestion is to fire this creep bc this will not be the only review I give about this creep employed at your store. Sincerely A concerned but no longer a customer
