We could hear that we had worn out brakes, when we brought our car to this company. When we dropped it off, we mentioned that the brake light had been on for a couple days and the ABS light was now on also. They called us back with the results of their inspection of the vehicle, which included checking the brake system, as well as front end components, engine maintenance components, and a complete overall vehicle condition report.
We gave them the Go ahead to replace the brake pads and rotors and to get the brake system back in working order for $1200.00.
When we picked up the car as we left the repair shops parking lot we knew immediately something was wrong. The brake pedal did not feel right and the ABS light came back on?
Spoke to the manager about this problem, he said this issue was not included in the $1200 job. that the additional cost would be $125 an hour to determine the cause of the ABS light which did not include parts or labor to actually repair that.? !
I don’t know if it was because they did not bleed the brake lines, or flush all the fluid out of the system, which normally would be done with this kind of job?
But I feel I should not have to pay even more to find out. So we took the car as is and will find another repair shop to complete the job, perhaps across the street from them?
FOLLOW UP: the business owner “Franky” contacted us after hearing about our disappointment with his business. He was very informative explaining that the brakes are a separate system from the ABS system which was causing the brake light and ABS light to be on even after the brakes had been replaced. He was very courteous and offered to make it right if we brought the vehicle in, which we did and I’m happy to say that we are now very satisfied with all the work that they have done on our car.
To make everyone aware. with the new technology we have on our cars these days it’s not simply one braking system. There are multiple systems that function the brakes. Just because your brake pads and rotors may be worn out doesn’t mean if those parts are replaced that the car will function correctly. It may require more work and money. Thank Franky

In this day and age, it is difficult to find honest, reliable businesses. My car recently broke down, and I took it to quite zone. The transient needed repairing, they said 7 hours and 7 hours it was. Other places inconvenience you for 3 days toʻ a week as well we got a quick appointment. They also have a convenient payment system. I definitely recommend quite Zone.

Edit: D&M did the same brake job one summer later for LESS THAN HALF the price. $1040 out the door.
D&M even lets you buy the part yourself. Quiet Zone just jacks up the price on parts they source themselves.
Maybe Quiet Zone can get you in faster, but they'll use that convenience factor to bleed your wallet dry. *If you know about 2 weeks ahead of time that your car needs service, PLEASE go to D&M*. They are 100% honest and actually end up correcting mistakes places like Zeller make (caliper they put in was leaking).
(And if they were doing what the owner claimed in my glove box, they didn't bother to put anything back together and literally almost lost my insurance card.)
OG review:
The past 2 times I brought my car here, someone rifled through my glove compartment (the first time, my insurance card was found under the passenger seat, when I always keep it in my glove compartment). But what's more unsettling is how big of a ripoff this place is. $2500 for brakes? Plus a wishlist totaling over $7500? I didn't get any of the extras done and my car has been running perfectly for 6+ months. Instead, you should go to Gary's, a private mechanic, or D&M in Winsted.

I've been coming here for a few years, through 2 cars. Everyone has always been kind and fair. Brian and John have always been polite, professional, and put me at ease from day 1.
As horrible as it is to say in the year 2024, as a woman I often don't feel comfortable going to mechanic offices, and this is the only location where I know I'll be safe, treated fairly, and given fair prices instead of a runaround, and not spoken to like I'm an idiot. Great service all the way around!
Thanks guys!

Took a lot longer to do emissions on car than expected, almost an hour. I was 3rd in the queue but apparently the first had bad connection and didn't work.

Was there for a vin check on a bike two works went out to do the vin check they dropped my brand new $300 helmet the kid who dropped it was great he offered to pay for it to be replaced as in the owner/manger told me to call or bring receipt when I get it fixed so I had the motorcycle place call n he was absolutely rude yelling n told them to tell me to bring them to small claims. I will not be giving them any business. But the kid that dropped the helmet bless him for stepping up

Stop ? To the owner of this shop I hope you are paying Mechanic Brian a good Salary for being unprofessional and suggesting me to go to Meineke or Napa. After talking to sale associate Brian about a 2011 Subaru legacy No check engine light on no issues with the car all I wanted was a quote, water pump and timing belt. Brian states that they cannot give me a quote over the phone,I have to bring the car in first and they will scan the car and then give me a quote and if I want the job done at this shop they won’t charge me me for the quote but if I opt out I have to pay ?140?I explained nothing is wrong with it and that Meineke and Napa gave a quote
Brian words and I quote this:Go to Napa or Meineke Then……and hang up
Good job Owner u have a tremendous team that u pay to treat Customers really Rude
Your lost is the Shop across the street from u Gain after explaining what happened over at Quitezone he states they constantly having issues with Clients or Customers I would do the Job for u with out scanning or diagnosting your car.

These folks make it easy to get your emissions inspection done! No appointments are made, it's first come first served. I went early at about 8 am and had no one in front of me. It may get busier as the day goes on. The staff were polite and helpful. The whole process took 10 minutes and I was on my way. The waiting area was clean and pleasant. You pay the $20 state fee by cash. I believe I also heard it said that credit cards are accepted. I cannot say for certain on that point, suggest you bring cash.
