“Ron’s Automotive is the kind of place that you wish existed everywhere. My family was headed to Pennsylvania from Rhode Island when our car started to have brake problems. We went to a local chain place first and they weren’t able to helps us so I found Ron’s. They got our car right in and Ron was super dedicated to getting us back on the road asap. Turned out that the car had much bigger problems than what we could afford but they really did everything they could for us. They’re affordable and friendly and Ron genuinely cares about his customers. If we lived closer, this would be my go-to mechanic. You don’t find places that care these days so I highly recommend them. If you live nearby or if you’re driving through and need work done, come here. I can’t say enough good things about them.”

“Had a tire that wasn’t holding air and was going soft. A slow leak.
Called Town Fair Tire and was met with an automated voice. Waited 5 minutes on hold before I was connected with someone.
I asked how much it would cost to look at my tire and approximate price on a patch. Was told the service was free… I said “free? you’d patch it for free?”. They said, “well how much it costs depends on the issue…” and I said “oh so it isn’t free then…?”… they didn’t answer and they asked if I wanted an appointment. They were able to “squeeze me in” today at 3. They said the appointment would be “90 minutes long, give or take”.
Usual rigamarole you get when it comes to chains/corporate entities.
Feeling a bit disillusioned, I call up Al on the phone at this business. I give them the same spiel. “We can take you in immediately, we welcome walk ins” they say, and “a patch would definitely be under $40. We’ll take a look at it and have you in and out.”
The confidence, affordability, and direct line to the men working on my tires had me cancel my Town Fair appointment immediately.
I pull in and chat with Mike, a younger gentleman that worked on my tires as we chatted. I was allowed to look into the garage as he worked, and he walked me through exactly what was up with my tires. No patch needed. Just needed my rims brushed/cleaned as a spot of oxidation caused a weak seal between the rim and tire, causing a very slow leak.
Friendly guys, we blabbed the whole time… and Mike had my tire back on before I even realized he was finished, and was given an even lower price than the estimate. Was in and out in under a half hour. I asked to be charged a bit more so Al and Mike could get themselves a coffee.
How small businesses should be. Transparent, friendly, direct. Never had such a pleasant experience in any auto-adjacent shop. Support these guys, they’re great.
