I found this place through Airbnb, but it wasn't listed as Another Second Penny there. I was intrigued by the age of the inn (1710) and the scenery outside. We stayed for one night, and we're pleased with the accommodation. The artifacts and details inside the house along with the construction materials used to construct the house were so cool. The floors, beams, fireplace, doors, and other small things we noticed were interesting to see. The house is surrounded by trees and foliage, quiet and private. There were also horses out back we visited and said hello to. Too bad the owners are selling. I hope a new owner as sweet as Sandra takes good care of the house next.

This review has mixed feelings. Upon check the exterior is neglected with old empty gas cans, flower pots and broken items lying about. You are instructed to use a parking lot off to the side, which you have walk onto the road to get to, while the owners car is parked up front with an open space next to it. Shouldn't that be the other way around? The beds were HARD, but the AC worked. That is until the fuse blew when using the blow dryer in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom the blinds hadn't been cleaned in years, but the water pressure was great. During the week no cream is left out for coffee b/c they don't want it to spoil, and no one is there to get some for you. Really? Breakfast on Saturday was delicious. It's convenient, but....

My wife and I stayed one night at this establishment (2/06/16) and were very impressed. The inn is a quaint old house just off of I-95 (but secluded enough to feel far away- PERFECT!). The proprietors Sandra & Jim are very friendly and pleasant, and the strangest thing, which I can't really quite explain - they have a very calming effect. My wife and I live VERY hectic lives, but sitting down to the wonderful breakfast in the morning and chatting with them made us 100% relaxed and focused on the moment instead of all of life's demands. Neither of us looked at our cell phone once (the only time I can remember this happening!). I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone who wants to try something different than staying in your typical hotel, it is a much more enriching and enjoyable experience.
P.S. We stayed here instead of at Mohegan Sun (the main purpose of our trip) and it's not too bad of a travel time between the Inn and Casino.

I was very disappointed when trying to reserve/book my stay at Another Second Penny Inn. At first, my girlfriend and I were very excited to find a bed and breakfast that was pet friendly since we love taking our pooch along with us when we travel. We have a very well behaved 9 year old yellow lab who loves to go on adventures with us. Needless to say after speaking with Sandra our excitement quickly deflated. They advertise as a pet friendly establishment however they fail to list on their website that if at any time you leave your dog alone in the room you must keep them crated. We wrote back to her letting her know that we had no intention of leaving her alone for very long and asking if she could make an exception since our nine year old lab is extremely well trained and hasn't been crated since she was a puppy. Her response to us was nothing short of completely rude. She basically accused us of taking our pet along with us so we could avoid paying the cost of having to board her while traveling. That if we have a problem with their not so friendly "pet rule" then it's because we really don't want to be traveling with our pet at all..we just want to leave her alone in the room all day for a small pet fee of $25.00. I'm thinking Sandra must have been having a bad day for our email to evoke such a rude and judgmental response. We're excited to bring our dog with us on our weekend trip because we know that the area has lots of dog friendly parks, trails, and outdoor restaurants that our pooch would love. I work in hospitality myself and i would never treat a potential guest with such disrespect. I'm happy to say that Sandra's attitude encouraged us to look elsewhere and we were able to find a wonderful bed and breakfast that is actually pet friendly as advertised...no cages necessary. We are looking forward to exploring the area and bringing her along to enjoy it with us. A word of advice to Sandra...instead of making judgments and assumptions maybe next time someone emails you with an inquiry you can just keep it simple and say, sorry but thats our policy. There is no need for a lengthly rude email making judgment calls on what type of pet owners we are.

We had the most enjoyable, relaxing vacation ever. My wife and I were there for our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the Inn, its occupants and the surrounding areas. It really is a great vacation spot with easy access to cozy little boroughs, quaint marketplaces, excellent food and so much history. We plan on visiting again!

My husband and I spent the last weekend of 2012 at Another Second Penny Inn, a thoughtful gift from our daughter. We have been there many times in the past and stayed in each of the 3 guest rooms; namely, Dennison, Noyes, and the Russell Suite. We enjoy having the in-room fireplace and claw foot tub among many other wonderful amenities the inn has to offer. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Sandra and Jim are a delight and their breakfasts are like none other we've ever experienced in a B&B. We look forward to our next stay.

We visit Another Second Penny Inn each winter and have always enjoyed our stay at this charming B&B. We stay each year during our visit from California and love the charm and the delicious breakfasts. The innkeepers are a delight and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

In lieu of gift-giving my boyfriend and I decided that for Christmas we would treat ourselves to a weekend away. After looking at a handful of various bed and breakfasts around the state, I happened upon Another Second Penny Inn and knew that this would be the perfect getaway. My only condition was for there to be a fireplace in the room and ASPI met that condition and went far beyond anything else I could imagine. We stayed in the Denison Room which came with a fireplace, queen-size poster bed and a bathroom that seemed to be about half the size of my boyfriends entire apartment. It came with 2 sinks, a jacuzzi clawfoot tub. There is also a refrigerator stocked with water and soda and a picnic basket filled with wine glasses, a wine opener and various plates and cutlery. We met Sandra, her daughter-in-law and her sons and hobo, the Inn cat. Everyone was very friendly and warm. For breakfast you have two choices: Service at 8:30 or self-serve from 9:30 to 11:30. We went with the latter and came downstairs to a beautifully set table. I've never had a fancier breakfast. We were treated with french toast, a citrus compote, homemade doughnut muffins and soy sausage (in consideration of my vegetarian counterpart) as well as various cereals, oatmeal tea and coffee. It was such a wonderful treat. The location was perfect, just a short drive away from Stonington Borough where many great shops and restaurants were located, but it's set far enough away where you really feel like you are separated from the real world for a while. It was a much needed vacation and it was one that I won't soon forget.

this is an AMAZING bed and breakfast, it is about 5 minutes drive from everything you want to see i the area, and its cozy and wonderful! the house is charming, the owners are lovely, the rooms are comfortable and well maintained, and the breakfast is possible the most incredible thing there is (5 courses of decadent goodness)! I cannot say enough good things about them. I will be back to stay again!
