I’ve now stayed twice at the Stamford Marriott. The first visit was nice — a recently updated room, good service, etc. Understanding this is an older hotel, the updated room was a nice surprise.
My second visit, however, had two glaring issues thag contribute to the two-star rating:
1) when I arrived at 9 PM to check in, I was told that no rooms were available due to a slowdown with housekeeping. Given that check-in is supposed to be at 3 PM, it was shocking to arrive after a long day of work and a 3 AM wake up to not have a room. I proceeded to wait in the lobby for an hour as more than 20 others were told that no rooms were ready and that they’d need to wait their turn. I was provided a room at approx. 10 PM.
2) When I was provided a room, the room (and head of the bed) shared a wall with the elevator shaft. It sounded as if an airplane was flying over head, every time the elevator moved. This proceeded to wake me up a number of times over the course of the night, when I’m generally a heavy sleeper. Obviously, if you stay here, the odds are you will not have one of the rooms adjacent to the elevator, but this was my experience.
Overall, the hotel is fine, but, due to these two issues, I am very disappointed in my stay. As I travel to Stamford often for work, I will likely look to stay at the other Marriott offerings in the area in the future.

Terrible service and hotel. Arrived after a late flight and was denied entry to my room after a full reservation claiming they didn’t have any left. Management was completely unhelpful and claimed to put us up in another hotel except the “other accommodations” were not aware we were arriving and also got denied there. I trust Marriott as a company but this is embarrassing and I have definitely lost faith.

I’m currently staying at this hotel and I do stay here often for work. Unfortunately, this specific stay has been extremely frustrating. My phone was completely dead and the 3 ladies working the front desk at 11pm on 10/9/24 were just not helpful. I asked to borrow a charger whether it was their personal chargers or not just so I can turn my phone on and they all claimed they had no iPhone chargers. One of them seem to be opening a drawer at the front desk and the other tapped her hand as if she’s not to not to help me. I was extremely nice, and promised I will stay close and return the charger. They actually proceeded to ignore that I was even standing there.
I then went into the bar and the gentlemen working there was nice enough to allow me to use his charger until my phone turned on. I explained what happened, and he was shocked that the ladies weren’t any help because he knows they have tons of chargers In the office.
Overall, it doesn’t take much to be kind or helpful being that you are working a customer service position at a hotel.

Close transportation and shopping. Lounge on the top floor with a great sunset view of the NYC area skyline. Free wine and snacks in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Some need updating. Starbucks coffee in the lobby, onsite dining and more options close by.
Rooms: Nice clean rooms. Slightly dated but great views.
Nearby activities: Shopping, dining, transportation
Safety: Staff close by the entrances. They are in and out of the area and parking. No issues in this area even into the late evening.
Walkability: 15 minute walk to historic downtown Stamford area. Same distance to the Hudson line Stamford station.
Food and drinks: Dubbing and drinks close by.
Noteworthy details: Fitness center, pool has been removed

$25 for dry eggs and rock hard French toast. This kind of breakfast used to be free. Please make it more apparent at the reservation stage that breakfast is not included. Like, I don't think that's much to ask for what the rooms cost. If I'd have known, I'd have booked elsewhere.
Still 2 stars because the room was fine and service was as expected.

I read several reviews before booking this hotel and I am currently three days into an eight day stay. My question is, did the hotel pay people for these stellar reviews? Pretty much everything I read is a lie. The building is old and badly in need of upgrades. My room door privacy lock doesn't work; there ceiling tiles in the bathroom are stained and not properly seated; the bed is so low to the floor that my knees hurt when I stand; the elevators are slow and have broken and chipped floor tiles; the "express" elevator to the concierge level is even slower; the outside walkway and stairs to the left of the lobby have loose and broken concrete blocks (dangerous); and the location is across from the train station so it's loud and not very relaxing. The food is average and so is the staff. I've had no problems with service but for the price of the room and meals I expected a better setting and experience. I know I sound like a picky, whiney, and complaining hag but everything I've said is true and I rarely write reviews. So, for me to take the time to write this one demonstrates just how disappointed I am. I have five more days here (joined my husband on a business trip) and I can't wait to leave. The best part of my stay so far is when I leave the hotel. Stamford is adorable and with the close proximity to NYC we are catching the end of the baseball season while we're here.

This is our first time in Connecticut. We can't help but be happy here. Everyone of the staff members were so friendly. We would like to say thank you to Milka at the front desk. She was so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back
