I joined HFI several days ago and today was my first day of exercise. There was no one there to give me any instruction on how to program the treadmill or the recumbent bike. I was on my own when trying any of the strength equipment as well. When I ask a physical therapist there about one machine he said he knew nothing about the gym machines and to ask a gym attendant. THERE WAS NO GYM ATTENDANT! When in leaving I mentioned this to Jonathan who eagerly sold me the monthly membership, he said there was no introductory lesson available until the end of the month. THIS IS A GYM FOR OLD PEOPLE!! How can you operate without having anyone present for help. The facility itself is quite nice, but be forewarned, you’re on your own.

I absolutely love this gym, my only wish is that they didn’t close so early. As someone who works 7am- 7:30pm 4 - 5 days a week who NEEDS to workout I just wish they’d go back to the original hours.

If rudeness and disrespect of guests is to your taste, this is your gym. They make up rules as they go along. One day you can use the pool, the next day you can't. One day they provide towels or robes, the next day they don't. Ever try drying off after a swim or shower without a towel? They lie about their policies, they take your money and after that, they never return your calls. It's a horrible place.

Oh and to add to my review.... This place still thinks covid exists and have yet to open the steam rooms or even provide enough lockers for meme res. Additionally, and this is just an example of the lack of leadership, there are 4 bars on the weight floor with one set of clips? Hmmm... make sense? Not Nyt o me either. Great members though! Joe , and Jerry, two trainers, are ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE and I highly recommend. Susan and deb at the front desk as well! Everyone else ; not so much - especially management and Eric, the trainer.

This has been the biggest 'rip off' I have ever had. I enjoyed going to water classes for many years. I joined before the facility was even built. I paid for a year in advance ($900) right before the pandemic closed the facility. Since there are no water classes, I asked for a full refund. I visited the office in person 3 times. I was told I would get a full refund months ago. Either they are hurting for money or are just 'robbers'. Too bad! Since this is run by Stamford Health (Hospital) it makes you wonder about the hospital practices. And, by the way, you never know who is really 'in charge'!

The facilities and cleanliness is awesome, and very well maintained. I will give 5 star rating. However, they rob your credit card because it was stored in file. This happened with me, as they closed the facilities due to pandemic (with out any refund for the partial month). They opened again in Aug,2021 and started charging the credit card with out any notification. When i call, they said they sent the notification by postal mail. I did call the front desk to check on the status of steam room/hot-tub... and was also told that my membership was on hold. However, when i checked my credit card on fine day, then discovered that they were charging every month. When i spoke to Ginnie(in charge of billing), i was asked to get a letter from the doctor that i was not able to exercise during the period i was charged, for any refunds. This is very unprofessional. I would assume my membership is on hold until i call them to activate. This is like stealing, just because they have the credit card on file. This ir true with most of the establishment who have the credit card on file.

After being a member for over 15 years I opted to put my account on hold due to the pandemic. I was told on the phone back in April "call us when you are ready to return ". Imagine my surprise when I looked at my bank statement and saw I was charged membership fees. I left a VM to have someone return my call to get a refund and close out my membership permanently. I got a call back, but was informed I would need a doctors note to be refunded for the month I was charged. Also might I add I never received any correspondence that I would be charged. The hours are limited and class schedules are nonexistent. Yet they charge full price. Unbelievable snd very disappointing. Thank you for the excellent customer service.

I was charged for a month of personal training sessions on the same day the center closed due to COVID-19. Despite canceling my membership, repeated calls and letters, I have received no response from Sarner, let alone a refund for charges to my credit card. There's no excuse for a complete failure to respond.

I completely agree with Ronald N. I'm experiencing the same issue. I had to cancel my credit card to avoid all the incurring charges AFTER I froze my membership.
