I recently took some jewelry to be appraised here. Peter did a very professional and impressive job with the appraisals, and additionally, he went out of his way to get them done very quickly for me. I also found all of the sales people extremely polite and pleasant to deal with. The store is a treasure trove of beautiful antique and vintage jewelry.

I had to have my ring sized 3 times. I should have been properly advise on correct ring size the first time and was I charged all 3 times Then my gold ring completely broke. I also noticed that they completely redid my engraving without telling me and now I can hardly read it. I would never recommend anyone going here!

My girlfriend went a first time to get some information and it went well but I decided to go and met one of the employee (medium size and big), I had a terrible welcome and because the employee didn't care and didn't give the correct message to the owner, they decided to finally don't appraised my Rolex. Time wasted

I have purchased here, which was an OK experience. I took some pieces in to sell, and it was an unbelievably icky experience. I cannot imagine ever stepping foot in that store again. Peter buys by the “lot” and what that seems to mean is he prices the expensive pieces and then just takes the rest for free. It is one price for the entire lot. It was not a fair offer. If you want to sell your jewelry, I would suggest going to Greenwich, New Canaan or Westport, instead. So, I would not suggest ever selling to Peter Suchy. You do not feel like you are dealing with an honorable institution. Peter, I would suggest that you give people individual prices and not sell by the lot, so they can see what you are actually paying for each item. This way, people would not feel taken advantage of, and they can pick and choose what they want to sell to you. Seller beware!

I have used Peter Suchy jewelers for over 20 years. They are not just caring but creative and trustworthy. I had them recreate a family heirloom recently and it turned out to be one of the most amazing pieces I own!

Back in 2005 I was a Marine working across the street at the recruiting station when Peter came over during the holidays and offered each of us a very generous credit to his store. I’ll never forget that act of kindness and the beautiful earrings I got my mother for Christmas. Thank you sir!!

I have been a customer of Peter’s for over 40 years. There is not a more reputable and trustworthy jeweler out there. He and the people that work there are helpful, patient and they take the time to understand what you want. They don’t try to upsell or steer you to a product you don’t want. Everything is priced fair and great quality. Best of all, if they don’t have what you are looking for they can make it for you. He is a true craftsman.

Peter is a salesman in the worst way, I would not trust half the words that come out of his mouth. He told me that he cared about the work that he did, the satisfaction of his clients, and the history of the pieces. But my experience at his shop did not make me feel that these were true words.I brought in my grandmother’s bracelet watch to be lengthened. The piece has individual links that are all unique, so it needed new links cast and custom hinge work in order to extend it. I have done lost wax casting before. But with the custom hinges and it being my grandmothers watch I felt it best to go to a professional. I also asked for the watch to be looked at to see if it would be possible to get it working again. When I was called in to look at it I found their job to be unsatisfactory. The links, which I had asked to be split between the two sides were all together, 4 identical links which did not blend in to the original design. The new links were also not fixed in place. They were able to shift left and right independent of each other. Imagine a safety pin holding each link together where each link is able to slide linearly and independently of the link above. This was unlike the original links, which were fixed from linear motion and only allowed to rotate as a normal watchband does.Either Peter did not look at his employees’ work, or he did not care that it was done so poorly. In fact, he had the audacity to tell me over the phone that the links that they made were stronger and better than the unique custom work on the original bracelet. I felt lied to and gaslit.I was also told that the watch mechanism was too dirty to fix and would cost at least $350 to repair. I said that if that was the case the watch working wasn’t necessary and asked for the hinge mechanisms to be fixed and the links to be put where we originally agreed they would be.The second round was much better. I was told how “lucky” I was that the watch was able to be repaired for no extra money. I brought up some of my concerns that the hinges still weren’t quite to my liking, and instead of responding to me he talked over me to the man I brought along. Peter said that given the craftsmanship of the previous watch that there was no better that could be done. This I disagree with, considering that the craftsmanship of the original watch was better than what he did. Ultimately I took and paid for the watch because I did not want to continue being talked over and talked down to. I will be going to another jeweler.Upon further inspection it also appears that they deformed one of the original links, squishing it so that it would match the width of the new link placed beside it.I do not recommend Peter Suchy Jewelers.
