Attempted to open an account. Bank requires customers to have a cellphone, if you cant get verified throuh the website you cant open an account. No way to bypass.Bad tech customer service.I guess I will have to go elsewhere.

I had a loan offer from the bank. I went with another company, but three months later I figured I'd try again because now my daughter needed a loan. The website wouldn't let me as I wasn't a customer. No worries, so I called customer service. You know the reps who mumble, can't speak English, and ask you a question when you just game them the answer? Yeah I got that one. Okay, so I decided to drive to the branch on Broad Street in Manchester. Oops, guess what their own website is wrong, and there is no branch on Broad Street. Okay, so I then drive to the South Windsor branch. A loan takes all of 5 minutes to do online. The longer part would be setting up the account because per the mumbling rep I had to be a customer despite being offered a loan before. Whatever. So after being misdirected to Manchester, I still got to South Windsor with half an hour before the branch closes. I told them what I needed. They asked if I had an appointment despite the fact I see two customer service reps at desks, and only one had a customer. I said no. They asked me to schedule an appointment. I told them forget it, and that I was going with Discover which already approved me for a loan. I was just going for a better rate. I guess Santander likes to treat customers like crap, and doesn't like making money on interest.

The system is very slow. The online banking doesn't open .customer service put my on hold for 45 minutes stay away

the system is slow. always ask for verification codes that never arrive. I have to go to a branch for help. It is the worst bank I have ever had.
