Went to Welden’s to pick up a few things. I told the gentlemen behind the counter I needed propane for camping. He gave me directions, but I continued on my path to get the other items. He kept directing me to go the other way. My son went and got the propane, and the man behind the counter said “at least the kid listens” (in an extremely rude manner). We put our things back and left. Women do not need to be mansplained and treated rudely. This man was RUDE and I will not be returning to a store that treats women in a patronizing manner. 5/26/23

Welden markets itself as "your hometown hardware store" and they really and truly are. Great selection and service and they never hesitate to answer a question, provide some advice, and do what they can to get your household needs taken care of. They're not a huge store, but somehow they always seem to have the thing you need on their shelves. Definitely one of those places that makes Simsbury, Simsbury.

"The screen door slams, Mary's dress swaysLike a vision, she dances across the porch as the radio plays"(Bruce Springsteen)We have a three-season sunroom in the back of the house with screens on the windows and sliding door.When that nasty Christmas week windstorm dropped a whole load of tree debris in our backyard, some of it struck the back of the house, and cut holes in a window screen and the slider screen.So we threw the damaged goods into the car and drove them over to Matt at Welden Hardware. Within just a few days, he called us and said the screens were ready to be picked up. They look great and the price was very fair; in fact the job cost just a few bucks under what our homeowner's insurance company allowed on their estimate.Welden is really quite a cool store. We spent some time wandering around when we dropped off the screens and saw a big variety of products -some of which you'd expect to see in a hardware store (electrical, tools, paint, garden equipment) and some surprises, like snowblowers, kitchen supplies, and gloves.Next time you're thnking of driving to one of those big box hardware stores, check out Welden. You'll probably find what you're looking for, and the customer service will be off the charts fantastic.

I was given instructions to pick up specific hardware for a mailbox. I showed the gentleman in the store a photo of what needed to be fixed. He suggested fasteners, different from what my MIL initially wanted and his suggestion helped! Very knowledgeable and nice people, and well equipped store. I was in and out of the store in 5 mins or less.
