This hotel is full of very friendly people, who are completely incompetent. Upon arriving with my friend, we asked for connecting rooms, which I know are never guaranteed, but the check-in person said they would try. After waiting a bit, we were told they were able to get this, and gave us our keys. We went up to the rooms, which were next to each other, but unless the connecting door was invisible, they were not connecting rooms. Here is incompetent person #1, as the check-in people should know which rooms are connecting and which are not. I then had some problems with the heater in my room, and called reception to send someone up. They said someone would come up in 15-20 minutes. After waiting over an hour, we decided to go to dinner, and stopped at reception to ask what had happened. The person there mumbled apologies over and over again, but spoke so unclearly that I could not understand what he was apologizing for, only that the mechanic never showed up. Here is incompetent person #2, who can't even figure out how to send a mechanic up to the room. When we returned from dinner, we asked again for the mechanic, who came very quickly to the room. He was very nice, and explained about some of the problems with the heating system since they renovated the hotel, and seemed to really know what he was talking about, since he went into a lot of detail. He had to go somewhere else to make an adjustment, and then returned to say that the problems would be fixed now, and the heater would work as I wanted. Well, it didn't. You could turn it off, and it said OFF, but a minute later, it turned itself on again. Or you could adjust the speed of the fan between high and low, but it was always high. Here is incompetent person #3. Worst of all, the water pressure in the showers (in both rooms) was abysmal. It was like someone standing over you with an eye dropper of water and letting a few drops come down at a time. I can't believe that this hotel would sacrifice guests' comfort to be "environmentally friendly" or whatever reason they had for not having any water pressure in the shower. I strongly recommend against this hotel, if you want to be comfortable, since complaining to staff doesn't accomplish anything - they are all incompetent.

I stayed three nights midweek and found this hotel to be a 'mixed bag'. On the plus side, the beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and the basic amenities are fine. The fitness room and pool are good. The 'bistro' staff were very friendly and eager to serve. I found the in-room HVAC system to be extremely noisy and struggled to maintain a consistent temperature. Noisy neighbours in the corridor also were a pain. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. No in-room safe. No walking/running options at all around the hotel (unsafe actually). There's a Longhorn Steakhouse and Chilli's down the road if you want to try an overland walk in the dark.Rooms: Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, reasonable amenities but no in-room safe.Walkability: Non-existentFood & drinks: Bistro offers reasonable menu choices. Great staff. Breakfast burrito is huge!

We stayed one night while traveling home. Serviceable but nothing special. No coffee or tea or water in the lobby and awful coffee yo brew in the room. Breakfast was a counter to order from- super expensive-/ the coffee too. Room was clean and spacious.

The beds were comfortable, and the rooms clean. It's hard to sleep, though, when you can hear right through the walls and down the hall. There's a gap all the way around the door that allows light and noise in. The elevators are extremely slow, and there's no way to take the stairs to your room from the lobby. The treadmills area either rusted or dirty.

Room was OK. There were some fruit flys or something on our floor as soon as we got off the elevator. I found the bed really uncomfortable but I guess that could just be me. Mini fridge in the room was nice to put leftovers and drinks. The little cafe in the lobby is ridiculously overpriced much better going across to dunkin or up the street to the bagel place for breakfast.

We had our daughter's 18th birthday/HS graduation party here. Kristen was very kind and helpful, especially as the event got closer. Julio was incredible. What a professional!!! He worked so hard to make sure we were happy. The food was great, but his service was even better. We were so impressed by him. He really went out of his way and represented the Marriott brand well. Mark was also very helpful. He made sure anything we needed was provided. Luke at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind. As I would forget about the little details and make new requests, Luke was more than happy to oblige and never made me feel as though I was getting on his nerves. The experience was incredible and everything we ever imagined. Thank you, Marriott Shelton, for making this event so amazing. All of our guests are still talking about it. I wish I could give it more stars.

I am very pleased with my stay at the Courtyard Marriott in Shelton CT. The Director of Sales, Karen helped book my reservation and personally went out of her way to find me and say hello. I am a below the knee amputee and she provided me with a handicapped friendly room, she is very efficient and works with the customers needs. As a native Spanish speaker it was wonderful to be able to speak Spanish with Karen. She too is a native Spanish speaker. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back. I’m staying here for 5 days and the food is amazing, the server was so friendly, and I am able to get my Starbucks coffee in their lobby. This hotel is so clean and I found out they just did an entire makeover. My bed was just perfect.

Not the best Marriott experience....Firstly, we were given an adjoining room. We were clearly travelling with two young kids, why would they give us such room. We were extremely uncomfortable, so I asked for a replacement. So we were given a room on the second floor, horrible view (the outdoor split unit for HVAC). That wasn't an issue for me, but the next big red flag was the bathroom...WHY WOULD BATHROOM DOOR LOCK FROM OUTSIDE????The bathroom was scary, as if it is meant to lock someone inside. You need a screwdriver to get out of the bathroom if you got stuck inside. Since it locked from outside, I wasn't comfortable in the bathroom as kids went in and out while playing - No privacy at all.Back to the bathroom, the bathtub spout didn't work, to fill the bathtub, we had to use the shower head, which was a low-flow kind. Also, the toilet kept draining water after being flushed for 15 mins every time. The pool was clean and big. Kids had a nice time. Rec room was tidy and clean, no issues.Great location, lots of things to do nearby and lots of restaurants, diners, grocery etc.Room service, front desk and everyone was very nice, professional and helpful. It just didn't make sense for us to change the room for a third time, or ask for repairs for all those things, as we were on a busy schedule.Overall, our stay was below expectations for a Marriott Brand hotel.

This was my 1st trip to this Marriott but have stayed in Trumbull at other Marriotts. I came for a funeral 4.5 hr of traffic fm NJ but was greeted my Manny when I got there at about 11pm Wed night. He was smiling friendly and answered my few questions and offered me a bot of cold water. Told me about breakfast and coffee options for the morning and even said sorry for loss of my uncle. Room was very clear and spacious. Nice walk in shower and big bathroom. My only issue was the height of the toilet, I am 6'3 and that was a very low toilet. Nice fridge and microwave and plenty of space if you had clothes to hang. We will be back to try this hotel again soon.Rooms: Very clean, good closet space nice size couch and deskNearby activities: Restaurants n bar across the street can cross the road and walk if needed.

***FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT BOOKING YOUR WEDDING ROOM BLOCK OR HOSTING YOUR WEDDING AFTER PARTY HERE, PLEASE READ THIS:I want to start this review off positively. The hotel itself is beautiful, brand new, very clean, great location, etc. Check-in was easy and the front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The manager Anthony was very respectful and heard us out when we reported a disaster to him the next morning. The hotel provided refunds for all our guests who booked our wedding room block because we were supposed to have our wedding after party at this hotel… I want to note that this disappointing review is toward one staff member, the head chef, Dave Jensen. We had spoke to this employee (the head chef) named Dave Jensen the day before and he had assured us that the hotel would be ready for our after party, making all these reassuring promises to us. “Acting” very nice and professional. (Key word here is acting. Because it was all an act) Unfortunately Dave completely lied to us. He circulated a false story about our guests, (which the bar tender, Amber, told us afterward that everything he said was a lie and he created this story. Why? I don’t have the slightest clue. Maybe because he wanted to go to bed) he blamed his own bar tender saying she refused to serve anyone else (even though barely anyone got served to begin with) the bar tender told us a comment he had said about myself (the bride) and another female, which was completely disturbing and sexiest to hear, let alone find out that he said that about us… I wish we could have filed a report right then and there after hearing what he had said about us. We were completely disgusted by this employees behavior. The bar tender was extremely upset and apologized to us letting us know that she would have kept the bar open, however it was Dave who told her to shut it down …. (Dave lied to us saying his bar tender refused to serve anyone else and that’s why he ended the party after barely an hour …. Come to find out it was a total lie and it seems obvious Dave just wanted to go to bed and didn’t want to be bothered to run our WEDDING after party after promising so much to us the day before!) (keep in mind this started to happen at 10:45 pm.. guests had barely been there for a full hour at this point…) Meanwhile he didn’t even stay to explain himself, as he quickly disappeared upstairs. However, the bar tender, Amber, continued to stand behind a closed bar apologizing to us about how bad she felt saying she wished that they could have stayed open and this was a waste of time for everyone. I would like to thank Amber for still staying downstairs to calm us down, give us waters, and handle whatever she could to diffuse the situation of how upset we were. Unlike Dave who was supposed to be running our wedding after party but instead ran up to bed. How lazy…. This was beyond unprofessional & unbelievable for everyone…. And to say myself and everyone else were very upset by this employee Dave is an understatement. Although this hotel is beautiful, brand new, and the other staff members seemed to be delightful and professional, including the head manager Anthony who I whole heartedly respect for listening to us about this nightmare …. we would like to WARN anyone who may be considering having this hotel host your wedding after party. The disappointment and disturbing lies this employee (the head chef) Dave Jensen created was absolutely awful and it’s a shame because all other staff was very nice. JUST MAKE SURE HE DOES NOT TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR AFTER PARTY. We want to warn people and make sure this does not happen to anyone else on their wedding day, as your wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. How disappointing, as this employee, the head chef, Dave Jensen should be ashamed of himself for causing this and saying sexiest comments toward women behind their backs. Disgusting. I would never in my life write such a strongly worded review like this if the situation wasn’t an absolute nightmare :( Wedding parties, please beware!!!Safety: Beware o

Huge shoutout to Manny working the night shift really helped me out when the Marriott down the road dropped the ball at 2AM leaving me high and dry. Learn from my mistakes, stay here instead!Second visit for me; rooms are clean, modern, and staff has been nothing but helpful. I'll be coming back to this property whenever I'm in the area.

For the price we paid, it wasn't a bad deal-more than adequate. There was a working fridge. Copious amounts of charging stations in the spacious room. Shower was roomy and water pressure was good.

A slightly below average Courtyard. My room smelled like someone had smoked in it at some point. It was generally clean, but I wouldn’t say it felt spotless. The gym has a bike, 2 ellipticals, 3 treadmills (2 working), and free weights. Staff was friendly. No major complaints but unless you need to stay in this area you’re probably better going to a different Marriott property.
