I was an hour away from home at a specialty vet with a sick cat when my car started behaving pretty alarmingly. These guys were nice enough to pull the codes and figure out it wasn't a safety issue at all, give me advice on how to best fix it myself as it was an easy fix, they did it immediately when I arrived, AND they only charged me 20$. If I could give a business 6 Stars they would get it. It's always tough to find a good and honest mechanic, but this place is both.

I can’t say enough about Salem Auto! Tony and his head mechanic Billy took on my X5 BMW when nobody else wanted to. I was told to scrap it and to trade it in because it wasn’t worth the money to fix it. Well, these guys diagnosed it dead on and not only did they get my car running again, they did it for half the price! It runs better than it ever has, and I will never let anyone touch my car again besides Tony and Billy. They stand by their word and they take great pride in their work and most importantly, they care about their customers more than anything! I can’t thank them enough for what they did for me!

We had been searching for a car for our 16 year old grandson, but not having much luck. Our criteria for the car was front and side airbags,between $5 and $6K, a good service record (carfax) and low mileage. Now I know this seems like a lot to ask for.....but you have to start somewhere.
Searched on Facebook marketplace, (be very careful here) mostly people just flipping cars. Checked out local dealships, but very few (understandably) had vehicles in our price range.
I had run across an add for Salem Auto LLC and gave them a call.
This is where my search for a car would end.
They had numerous vehicles in our price range, all came with a carfax report (this was huge for me). Whoever was responsible for putting these vehicles on the lot, was obviously doing a great job of researching the vehicles history.
Can't say enough good things about this place, Billy is a very knowledgeable young man and handled all issues quickly and to our satisfaction.

I am happy to give A five star recommendation to Salem Auto and it’s owner, Tony. I recently purchased a used car through Tony. I found him to be Extremely knowledgeable . He and his shop are skilled mechanics and will not compromise doing the job correctly. Tony went out of his way to accommodate my needs even for transportation to his shop. He prepared all the paperwork for me, and my registration went perfectly at DMV.

Called the shop on Saturday afternoon, just hoping to get in reasonably soon. They said I could drop the car off Monday when they opened (I couldn’t even get there til 2 when I got off work). Had it diagnosed, fixed & ready to go by midday Tuesday, at a very fair price. Most shops I called couldn’t even give me an appointment for at least a week out.
Billy explained everything very clearly (I am an automotive dimwit), even sent me video showing the problem. Great job, will be returning for all future repairs.

These guys screwed me out of $200 dollars just because I was a naive teenager. I called to get my deposit back and spoke to the most unprofessional man I’ve even spoken to. Basically said he wasn’t gonna give my money back because I was rude and mad? Dude you broke the law. I was 19 years old. I paid over the phone and literally never signed anything. SHAME ON YOU. It’s taken 5 years to finally mature and realize how awful you did me. A bad review is the least I can do for this chop shop.

Purchased a first car for our son at Salem Auto. Tony was very honest and knowledgeable we got a good car for a very fair price and Tony got us on the road very quickly. We highly recommend this shop and will be a returning customer.

I purchased a used car at Salem Auto last month in May 2024. The transaction was smooth, the car was as expected and the process was without issue. I’ve driven it roughly 1500 miles before posting my review. During this period the car had no unexpected issues and the title was received in the mail.

I recently bought a 2015 VW GTI from Salem Auto. The GTI has high mileage, but was a one owner and had a detailed, well documented maintenance history. Anthony was helpful, and most importantly honest with answering questions I had before the purchase. The car was an "as is" sale but i agreed to the purchase. A steel oil pan was recently installed on the car, and I noticed a leak a day after purchase.. I got in contact with Anthony and immediately he had me take car down to shop and have oil pan re sealed at no cost, even with the "as is" purchase! After the oil pan issue was resolved, Anthony followed up a few days after making sure the car was not leaking, or had any other issues. I was glad to have purchased the car from someone who has that amount of care for the customers and the cars they sell. I now have had the car for a few weeks and I could not be happier! The car runs extremely well and I constantly get people complimenting the look of the car. Thanks again to the mechanic, and Anthony for helping me with everything. Highly recommend this shop to anyone!
