I could not be more pleased with this amazing group of dedicated rescuers! I am so impressed with their professionalism. I have been working with Beth and Christi to adopt Delilah, who was saved from an awful cruelty case. One of the things that I am so impressed with is how thorough and efficient Beth has been to work with! She was great about telling me each step that I need to take, and she did an excellent job guiding me through the entire process. Delilah’s foster mom, Christi, has been so incredibly helpful. She is willing to answer all of my questions over the phone. The communication with both Beth and Christi has been outstanding. Looking Glass Animal Rescue is caring, organized, professional, thorough, and compassionate. Best adoption group to work with for anyone who wants to adopt!

What an amazing organization to deal with. Definitely matched perfectly with my rescue dog from them. I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience.

I first came across LGAR in July 2018 when they were searching for fosters in my area. I signed on to fosters cats, and went through a very thorough background check before coming on board. I fostered 3 cats over the next year. As a foster I agreed to provide food for the cats and attend any vet appointments as necessary. I was also asked to attend any adoption events and to try and be available for potential adopters to visit or meet. This was all spelled out before signing on as a foster.
LGAR was always responsive to any calls or emails I sent, quickly resolving any issues that arose. I adopted my last foster, a kitten that LGAR rescued who was found dumped on the road, blind and suffering from infection. They paid for her to have surgery done at a specialist to give her some of her eyesight back. We later found out she is deaf, which there is no current remedy for. Other rescues would have overlooked her as she was so sickly. But LGAR took a chance and pulled her, and she's now a 2.5 year old sassy spitfire who has some vision thanks to LGAR.
At some point during my fostering I signed on to become an application processor. This consisted of calling potential adoptees, their references, vets etc to ensure the animals were going to the best homes possible. It is a very in depth process, no corners are cut. Some people become impatient with these processes but it's refreshing to see a rescue stick to it's principles.
I recommend LGAR to everyone who is looking for a new pet. And if you're looking for some volunteer work and have some extra time, definitely consider them as well.

I am a volunteer/border for Looking Glass Animal Rescue down in South Texas. After working with rescues from across the country I can honestly say LGAR is the best there is. This rescue has perfected the adoption process. From animal intake to adoption this rescue uses a system that perfectly pairs each dog with the right adopter. The care the dogs recieve while awaiting their new families is second to none. No expense is spared on these animals. Each and every member of this rescue takes pride in the work that they do. It is that pride coupled with the love of animals that makes LGAR an outstanding rescue.

My FAVORITE rescue, hands down. And I work with a lot of different northern rescues.
They are always there when an animal is in need, medical cases as well as neglected animals, I ask for help and I always get it. Looking Glass Animal Rescues safes hundreds of dogs and cats each year and a lot of them come from the Louisiana region I live in.
With Looking Glass Animal Rescue I know for sure that the dogs I have them help me with are going to the best homes that there are.

I had a positive experience dealing with Diane from LGAR. We did not go through with the adoption however as the process seemed quite hurried and we were not getting the information about the dog we felt necessary. We didn’t have communication with the foster of the dog only LGAR. Getting clear answers to our questions and concerns just wasn’t happening I think that if it was made easier to get the proper information we would have stayed. Other than lack of communication with the pet handler and the seemingly hurried process Diane was very pleasant to communicate with.

Hi Mike, We appreciate the feedback. It is my understanding that Diane had begun working with you on 10/26 and you stated that you were unsure if this was the right dog for you. As such, you submitted a list of questions that Diane was able to get answers to including pictures, etc. which were sent to your text as you were working and phone calls were more difficult. When she contacted you again yesterday, you had told her this was not the right dog for you. We typically do not ask our fosters to get involved unless we have a committed party on the other side as they are volunteers and we would be bombarding them daily with requests if we did that. We try to respect their time and find balance between the needs of adopters and our fosters in that regard. I apologize if that made things more difficult and we will take that into consideration going forward. Good luck in finding your new best friend and thank you for looking to rescue!
Since LGAR is trying to make it seem like we just weren’t interested and that harley just “wasn’t the right dog for us” I will be lowering my rating from 3 to 1 star. This was not at all the case.
Most of the answers to our questions were assumptions and “guesses” on diane’s behalf as she didn’t reach out to the foster to ask these directly. We don’t feel comfortable adopting a dog into a home with an established dog currently without proper knowledge of the new animal. You would think this would be common sense. Diane also knew I worked second shift and called me during work hours. I still managed to return calls.
Diane then left me a message while I was at work needing a decision by the end of the day as others were Interested. This was our response clearly not that “harley wasn’t the right dog for us”
“ I think we are going to pass on the adoption. Given the fact that we already have an established dog in our household I would have liked to get some more clear responses to my questions and concerns. I think being in contact directly with the foster care provider would have been beneficial. I’ve raised husky’s and malamutes my whole life so i understand the tricky characteristics of the breeds and the time and effort they take. It’s hard for us to get a clear understanding of Harley through a middleman and we want the best for Athena as well and any animal we introduce into her space. Figuring out all the details is important too us and not something we want to rush. I understand you have other applicants lined up so we are going to forego the adoption and look elsewhere. Thanks for your time. I’m sure harley will have no trouble finding a home with a face like that.
I have copies of all interactions with the company I would be willing to share if anyone wants to see how my dealings went feel free to contact me

We can’t thank LGAR enough! Our family was looking to add a furry member to our family and LGAR worked with us to identify the perfect fit. Thank you!

We rescued our dog, Cooper, from Looking Glass. They are the best! Always going over and above to find the right homes for each and every animal. We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to adopt from them. I recommend them to everyone I know who is looking to rescue.

I fostered(now adopted) my dog Shadow from looking glass. The person I dealt with after I filled out my foster application was amazing. Once I got Shadow, I found out they never did a heartworm test on him, a month after I fostered him, I took him and the poor thing had heartworm, at that point, who knew how long he was heartworm positive for. The looking glass did find a vet near me and paid for the treatments and took responsibility, I'll give then that. I needed proof he was neutered, they had no record, I've never known a rescue to not have proof of a neuter or spay, even if it happened before he was in their care. I was told " Can't your vet just look to see if he has balls and write a letter". Not very professional at all. I took him to the vet recently and I found out he still had the stitches in from when he was neutered, which was probably 2 or more years ago. Which means, the looking glasses vet clearly didn't check him when shadow got into their care and the vet I've been bringing him too(rescue picked them) didn't do a great job during his check ups either. It seems as though Shadow was just pushed thru the rescue without any care. Very disappointing

I have had nothing but great experiences! After a long ride the animals arrived in Cheshire the truck did not smell of animals excrement, it smelled clean. Our dog Loki was happy and content . The men were friendly but professional! I really appreciate great customer service!

We have adopted one of our dogs from LGAR and have fostered one (soon to be 2). What I can say is this rescue is the real deal: dependable, communicative, reputable, and they truly care about each and every animal they save.

I am the adopter that was mentioned in one of the previous reviews. While the previous reviewer was one of several people in my neighborhood and community to help us search for our dog, she is not familiar with all the facts of our experience with Looking Glass Rescue and things that were said in our brief conversation have been taken out of context and misremembered/misunderstood. There are several claims in the review that are outright incorrect and I believe she misremembers parts of the conversation she had with myself and my husband.I can only give Looking Glass Rescue the highest recommendation. They are a wonderful organization that from my experience truly and genuinely cares about their dogs. We were looking to add a second dog to our family for a while and had been in contact with several rescues. Looking Glass was very professional with a very detailed application, long phone interview, fully checked references, long detailed contract and multiple resource documents to help us with the transition. The foster spoke with us for 30 minutes when we picked up our dog and patiently answered our questions and provided advice. Looking Glass checked in with us the day after the adoption to ask how we and the dog were transitioning. They gave us great advice on small issues we were having integrating our rescue dog into our family, reassuring us when we were doing things right and correcting us when we were potentially doing things wrong. Looking Glass NEVER threatened to take away our rescue dog in any way. They have only been a wonderful supporter to help us make the adoption a success. When someone integrates a rescue into their family, even a family with a lot of previous dog experience, there can be unexpected bumps along the way as rescue dogs can sometimes be unpredictable. It is clear to me that Looking Glass has been and always will be a invaluable resource for the life of our dog.
