A bookstore straight out of a movie scene! The outside is picturesque and for a small town bookstore, the selection was immense. I was particularly pleased with the amount of poetry and there seemed to be a nice balance between classic literature and more modern offerings. I’m looking forward to stopping in again and hopefully making a purchase the next time I visit!

Wonderful bookstore with helpful staff and a vast collection of must reads. We especially like their children's section. As teachers, we find many books for young adults and elementary school kids, both picture books and chapter books alike. If you're in Ridgefield, this bookstore is definitely worth a visit. We always make a stop on our way through.

Perfect neighborhood independent bookstore! Thoughtful selection of books; great children’s book section. One or two places in the store to sit a minute and peruse your selection. Friendly and helpful booksellers, too.

I live in a nearby town and go out of my way to come to this store. When my children were little, we would visit for the wonderful children's section. My son would sink into a chosen wingback chair with that day's selection while I browsed. Now, I go back for the nostalgia, the ambience (the creaky wood floors), the helpful staff, and the well curated selection of books. This place is a gem.

Walked through the rain to get to this place, it was lit up inside and I pulled the door, it didn't budge. A woman stared at me standing in the rain and did nothing. I ran back to my car to check the time and it was 5:30. I called the store to see if their closing time had changed but there was no answer. Ick, mom and pop bookstore you lose....

This bookstore holds all of my favorites, and so many books I can’t wait to read. I enjoy coming here so much, and the only think I could even hope to see is more DIY craft idea books, or such like that, as those are specifically what I can in looking for. I also LOVE the interspersed cozy book-nooks for sitting, which are just perfect.

Super helpful staff, it is my tradition now to go to this bookstore every year for one of my hardest to buy for (books at least) friends. Every recommendation they have ever given me has been excellent, and well received by the birthday girl! I also Treated the extensive New Yorker cartoon card collection! And there’s always cute little gifts at the register to buy. The free gift wrapping is also great!

Great location; charming exterior. Even better, interior is brimming with books, carefully curated stationery, and small gifts. Selection in the poetry section is worth noting.

I love it -- my favorite bookstore.Wonderful location, and a warm atmosphere -- and a great selection of books. I am an avid reader and by browsing found books I didn't know, and that ended up being superb- and favorites. It's a dream bookstore where people stop in, browse, gather. A gem.

I LOVE this bookstore. The 5th star is withheld only for the reason that I wish they had a stronger collection of independent authors. Other than that, Books on the Common truly epitomizes the concept of the local bookshop.

Lovely bookshop fully of lovely people who are more than willing to help. We just popped in on a visit from Ireland and we were made to feel right at home straight away.

This place has about the same selection of cards as your local Target or Walmart. There’s nothing charming or special about it.
