About Collis P. Huntington State Park
Collis P. Huntington State Park is a beautiful and large park with many trails, offering a great experience. It features all levels of trails, from wheelchair access to rugged hiking and short technical single track, with plenty of trail options. Visitors can find shaded trails, beautiful meadows, lovely ponds, and large fields. The park is well-used and well-maintained, generally pretty clean. The network includes many carriage roads, larger hiking trails, and lots of little alternate paths. People can cut in and out of different paths to make hikes or walks shorter or longer. The park is popular for multiple activities: people hike, walk, jog, ride mountain bikes, ride horses, kayak on the waters, and walk their dogs, both on and off leash. There are multiple parking lots, and amenities include picnic tables and restrooms like an outhouse or porta potty depending on the lot. It is recommended to go earlier for a more quiet experience and to take pictures, such as of the bales of hay in the upper fields which make awesome backdrops. Visitors should watch for hikers, walkers, joggers, horses, and mountain bikes on the trails, and be mindful of horse poop. The trails are not super crowded in the mornings, and while there is not much signage, the park is a gem with absolutely nothing bad about it.
