I really wish I could give this place a rating only based on the DR himself because it would be 5 starts, but unfortunately my visit today is what brought down that rating. I was greeted by an older woman (there’s usually a young girl there when we go) who was not very pleasant definitely needs some customer service training. My dog has been here in the past and generally loves going there, he is very skiddish when it comes to getting his nails cut (which I emphasized over the phone that PetSmart or Petco has had trouble doing but never mentioned him biting) they began to immediately muzzle him and the older lady proceeded to say “you should’ve prefaced that issues when you made the appointment (which I did when I called stated other places haven’t been able to cut his nails, if they couldn’t do it it’s not a problem, they agreed to see him it would just be an extra charge if it were difficult) she then began to mention multiple times I should get my puppy neutered who by the way only turned 6 months 2 weeks ago so it hasn’t crossed my mind yet. She was very sloppy with her work and not very kind afterwards. I will unfortunately be switching beds due to todays interaction.

The doctor was very personalable, kind, and understanding. The RN was very nice too. would highly recommend, although my dog would probably say the exact opposite of that

I called to inquire about services for Feral cats. This is a new territory for me. I had many questions on the phone. The woman on the phone started friendly and then quickly got annoyed with all my questions. She was making the information very difficult for me to comprehend and was not really helpful. She kept telling me, let's wait until Monday to talk, when I have needs for these cats. It was clear she did not want to see them. I finally told her I did not appreciate her attitude and she hung up on me. I am astounded at this bed side manner. I am in a whole new terrorrity with lots of questions and instead of kindly answering them despite my confusion, she was full of attitude. I wish I could have gotten her name. I will never go there.

Our pets were treated with kindness and dedication. While we were there our dogs were top priority. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and we thought the prices were reasonable.

VERY RUDE 35/40 year old blonde receptionist. Because of her horrendous customer service skills I switched veterinarians. She is rude and doesn't know how to properly/ professionally address customers. Dr Craig, please hire new front desk help, Because the RUDE one you have currently is Dragging customers away.

Dr. Craig and staff are excellent! We had to put down our 13 year old lab Cooper, recently… what could’ve been an awful experience turned out to be a really decent one. The vet kept him going longer than he might have and when it was time Dr. Craig and Elena were very compassionate and thoughtful to our family and we appreciated it immensely. Super great place! Thanks,Eric Cooper

Don't review often, especially "bad" reviews. Sometimes "bad" service is a "power struggle" ie: "put a client in place". Not this client, offended? #scrollbyReview Caveat – I love Dr. Craig @ Preston Vet; reasonable pricing; he's in it for the pets, you decide:I hired a trainer for my pup, the trainer also owns a doggie daycare. This trainer required that my pup have the influenza vax & all vet records but, they must not be written by hand, this rule also applies for the Town of Ledyard license registration, by the way.I “thought” no worries & call the “receptionist” @ the Preston Animal “Hospital”. I am told immediately & abruptly, **“we don’t type up the records & we don’t give the influenza vax.”My response “ok you don’t give the vax; so how do I get the vaccine?” response on phone & again when I visited for my pups annual shots “we don’t know; we don’t give it”. NOT helpful. But ok fine. My 2nd response, what do I do about the records I need typed up, receptionist response “tell them to call us, that is what the Town of Ledyard has to do for licenses & they don’t like it either.” Then out of the blue 2 days later, I get a message to pick up “typed” records, this was last week of May???June 20th, Time for pups annual shot visit; go for visit & again, get told they cannot give the influenza shot & have no suggestion where I can get it done. Caveat: I understand why they do not give it (cost vs. expiration), but no suggestion as to where I can get it done??? As I am leaving I “forgot” I needed the records typed not handwritten. UGH, so I send the “handwritten” in & I hear back “we need them typed” response, just like the town insists on☹ So again I need to call the “receptionist” & I get the same exact **response as the 1sttime. My response “but you typed them up last time”. The extremely rude & again abrupt REPEATED responses, each of the below was emphasized at least 3x; all while talking over me:“we don’t do that”; “my computer doesn’t talk nice to the printer”; “I’ll have to ask the other receptionist when she comes in”; & “You can’t have them today”My response: more than once I had to insist “I never asked for them today” & “why do you guys not type them” & then BAM, the “receptionist” slams the phone down on me. Thursday July 13.Suddenly, out of the blue, the exact same day; I am emailed my pups full records typed up by the “receptionist”??? In 2023, I don’t look forward to arguing consistently with my vet, just to receive expected & not out of the ordinary service, especially when it is easily remedied AFTER the “receptionist” has had her chance to berate me. Apologies to Dr. Craig as I believe he honestly assisted in saving my 12 year old princess from dying of chemical poisoning last summer. I was so pleased, I donated extra to the “receptionist” (yes the same one) dog charity she runs. IMO this receptionist is overworked; needs more customer service training; BUT definitely should not be a business “owner” herself until then! If you have read this far, any recommendations?
