I enjoy this gym very much! The yoga and spin classes are outstanding. I also frequent the steam room and sauna. The gym is clean and well maintained.

First of all, let me say how this review is nothing against employees or facility itself. This is about YMCA becoming greedy corporation and their ridiculous policies. After getting a membership at some other Y, I was told that we can go to any Y in greater Hartford area. We spent most of our time at Plainville location. After 2 months we are getting a call from the place where we signed up for the membership and she is telling us how Plainville gave them a call about us and going over there all the time and how we need to upgrade our membership to more expensive one to be able to continue going to Plainville. That is just ridiculous because we were told that we can use any of the locations. Second, a $30 day cancellation policy is ridiculous. That is just another way to take extra payment from their customers. Shame on you and your stupid policies. You are becoming terrible corporate place. You lost a gym membership and a possible child care service customer. You should be ashamed.

Now this is really “only kids” place regarding lap pool and all-purpose pool. 2 instructor ladies took all available slots for kids and only 1-2 hours for free swimming or family swimming! So, if you wanna go to swim after job - just forget it! They all the time have kids lessons!!! That’s unbelievable!! Hope you can return money back because no sense to continue membership!

They never returned calls and emails to help me register for swimming classes because I am not a member. I wanted a torur of the facility they told me I couldn't because I was not registered or was a member.
I thought the YMCA was a place for equal opportuties for the community to register for certain classes without having to be or become a member. Won't recommend and will be looking somehwere else.

They have renovated the sauna and steam bath. They are really great now. It's a clean and friendly place with a nice staff. We try and go daily.

Swimming pool is closed because “several hours ago was rainy weather”.. that’s ridiculous. It’s in-door pool, people still working, shopping etc in rainy/snowy weather. The only explanation “we have a procedure”. Don’t see connection with light rain and in-door pool. Don’t recommend it because they have a lot of ridiculous reasons for closing many activities.

Very nice YMCA. Newly renovated Sauna and Steam Room. Large rock wall and exercise rooms. Two pools with splash pad and large hot tub! The Subway Restaurant has since closed which was a huge perk for the kids after swim lessons. For now, there are no definitive plans for a replacement food vendor but I heard that Subway could make a return!

Had a swim membership, figured I would get some exercise by swimming. The pools are constantly filled with lessons, clubs, or lane swimmers (two people have to share one lane). I ended up quitting. Not worth the hassle or the cost. Tried telling the front desk on two separate occasions, nothing was ever done.

Have paying for membership since March, and now it's June. Haven't been able to visit once, due to timing. I had a membership before COVID which I had to cancel due to COVID. The timings were never this short. I hope the money we've all been spending here comes to more faculty shifts.
