I've been on the shoreline for over twenty years, and Walt's reminds me of the local butcher shop in your hometown,selling high quality cuts of beef, along with everything else! My FAV is Walt's Stuffed Pork Tenderloin which is fantastic!!, It's stuffed with provolone,roasted red peppers,spinach and Italian sausage!! Don't wait!!Get it before it's gone! Highly recomend Walt's!

Just had the prime rib sandwich... it was perfect. This place is perfect. I am glad I have another 5 days left in Old Saybrook because I want to try everything they have in this store. If you are looking for a place to grab a quick and absolutely delicious sandwich (and other things)...this is it.

Went to Walt's Market as it was nearby from where we were having lunch. Very glad I did. Old school market that opened in 1960. Still has that old school feel. The highlight was the meat counter. Walt's son Paul is in charge now and he was very knowledgeable cutting meat. I got a beautiful cut of pork shoulder to make pulled pork for Superbowl Sunday. The pork was delicious. The store has a variety of specialty products like pastas, ice cream, breads, etc. to try out. The prices are a little higher than most places but definitely worth it, in my opinion.

My husband and I just had the prime rib sandwich and it was awesome. Plenty of meat and very flavorful with the horseradish mayo. Would definitely order again. Friendly staff too.

Started going there almost 40 years ago, and then stopped for a long time as it was not convenient. Now as I work on the area I started going back, and it hasn't changed, still the best. The best sandwiches at lunch time, there may be a line at the deli but it moves fast and it is worth it. Truly like going back in a time capsule.

Walk back in time to the days where a neighborhood market was the place to shop. All kinds of meats, prepared meals, unique soda pop brands, and holiday dinner prep. Pies, pastries and huge hoagies. Service is friendly.

Visiting a friend who took me to this non corporate quality foods store, and what a pleasant surprise this was! I got to try their pastries, sandwiches and meats for dinner and everything was just perfect. Staff did an amazing job preparing things to my liking, was very polite and professional and did a heck of a job with everything. Great shop with great foods and a top notch staff team makes this a perfect food store if you wanna get real good eats at a great price! Three cheers to the peeps who work there!

Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen, waited ten minutes in front of the deli and the deli workers continued ignoring me until I demanded service, rotten. I wouldn't recommend this market to anyone.

Pretty good as a store! The sandwiches are delicious, and the convenience is unbeatable. I've had a couple gripes, but nothing that will stop me from going back.Don't try to order over the phone, they've lost 3 of my call-in orders. The sandwiches are great (especially the prime rib special Monday and Friday), but they undercooked a roast beef cut I had once.

I absolutely ADORE this local hometown independent grocer for 4 reasons: 1) The QUALITY of ALL their items is TOP NOTCH. The meats, seafood, deli items including salads, sandwiches, soups, prepared lunches, dinners, as well as bakery items, produce, and prepared frozen items are ALL HOMEMADE & DELISH! They also stock a fantastic selection of well known dry, refrigerated and frozen groceries! 2) The prices are extremely reasonable. 3) The staff are genuine, kind, helpful & efficient. 4) ITS NOT a hoity-toity exorbitant boutique grocer. It's an authentic old school neighborhood establishment that provides reliable, consistent, excellent quality groceries. AN OLD SAYBROOK LOCAL INSTITUTION that has stood the test of time. I am completely HOOKED on this place! I have had their grinders which are fantastic. Their croissants, cookies, soups, prepared dinners which are also fabulous! The portions are generous & the prices are very reasonable! Walt's is TRULY is a GEM in the local COMMUNITY! We are INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE to have this fantastic independent grocer in the area! I want to say THANK YOU!! to all the guys in the back, the butchers, for the year they had my weekly order of beef shanks waiting for me. All so beautifully trimmed even though they were for my dog. Ive come to find , here in LA , ur neighborhood, butcher/deli is a thing of the past. Walts is a gem , great premade REAL food and great butchers in the back .Thanks Guys!

Walt's is the perfect small town market with a terrific deli, the hot lunch sandwiches are to die for, fresh meats including terrific steaks, and very friendly staff. The grocery store of Katherine Hepburn lives on amid the larger competition, and a great place to shop.
