When servicing my mother's Volkswagen atlas they were supposed to do ONLY an oil change nothing else. Now today my car battery died and I had to use my mother's car to jump it. When I open the hood of my mother's car the intake box was unscrewed. How do I know it was them well they told me, it was necessary to replace the intake filter. How come a specialized mechanic foolishly remove the intake filter and forget to screw it back on, it's ridiculous. I would not recommend this place at all

I am incredibly pleased with my experience at VW Old Saybrook. Once I submitted a request online to view a vehicle, someone contacted me swiftly, and they were able to schedule me in for a test drive the following day.
My representative, Gabriel, was incredibly welcoming as soon as I arrived. He greeted me with a smile, and was patient through the entire process. He was new to the business and working through his training, so I was able to meet other sales representatives along the way. Everyone at this business is incredibly kind, accommodating, and incredibly knowledgeable.
I fell in love with a Tiguan, and needed to trade-in a Jeep that I had leased from another business. There were some complications with my previous lease with the Jeep, and Sam P was amazing. I was a bit stressed with this issue, however Sam eased my mind, explained step-by-step what I needed to do to end my lease, and I left the dealership feeling confident.
The leasing consultant, Laurie, was very kind and walked me through all of the features of my new car, alongside Gabriel who gave me a tour of all of the features in the vehicle.
Dean who manages the finance department was very helpful, and ensured that I got the best deal. He quickly sorted out my registration and lease agreement - the entire process was virtually painless.
Gabriel and team were all great, and I happily left the lot with a beautiful new car. Thank you Gabriel for all of your help, guidance, and commitment to understanding my needs!!
I highly recommend VW Old Saybrook. The energy of the dealership was great, low stress, and welcoming.
Thank you all for making my experience so great!!

My family has purchased four cars from this dealership location in Old Saybrook, CT. On July 26, 2023, I brought my car in for its scheduled oil change. When I arrived, the young lady at the desk informed me that, even though I was under the allotted mileage (I had 14k miles), I was past the 2 year period for coverage by two months. When I made the appointment for a complimentary oil change, I should have been informed at that time that my coverage was expired.I called Jeff, the sales manager, in an effort to resolve this issue, and he did not even have the courtesy to return my phone call. I thought I was a valued customer, but apparently not. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing any more vehicles from this dealership.

Flexible with appointments. They give you a video inspection of your car so you can see what work needs to be done. They let you choose what you want fixed and keep a record, so you can schedule them at your convenience. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend them.

They had my wipers in stock and had someone install them right away without an appointment. Great service!

Hands-down the worst car dealership I have ever worked with and the worst service department. I bought my first car here in 2008 it was disastrous. The manager needed to take over to salvage the deal. The service department treated me poorly and eventually left and had my car service somewhere else. In 2017 when I was looking to buy a car I stupidly went back and watched the finance manager insult my sales associate in front of me and other clients. And then speak rudely to me about the decisions I was making to buy my car. I bought my car in New Jersey. I have been scammed by the service department within the last six months. Being told that they could do small things for me that ended up costing over $200 and never giving me a quote of the add-ons. Yesterday I had an issue with my car. I was stuck with a car that wouldn’t start at a gas pump at a very busy gas station. Three times to get through to the service department to only get an attendant who told me they could call me back but couldn’t guarantee that it would be today or when. He said there was only one person working in the service department and she someone who makes appointments and knows nothing about cars. I proceeded to call Volkswagen in Mystic and the service manager answer the phone and in five minutes my problem was solved. The last time I called they claimed to be under new management and handling things much better. I don’t think things can get much worse. Do yourself a favor and buy a car somewhere else and get it serviced somewhere else. My husband bought a car for his daughter there and has had the same rude and inapt experiences. I hope whoever manages this company reads this. You need to really clean things up

They are completely unprofessional. I will never do business there again. My salesman Scott was great but their service department is a joke. Broke down again after just leaving the dealership. They are definitely having problems there but they shouldn't make their problems their customers.

Tried to purchase a truck here from a very nice sales lady. At first there was no warranty, it was as is. They came back with 60 days, 3,000 miles which was ok. Tried to get a better deal after reaching my max budget with no luck, not even a counter offer. After reading many bad reviews on here I would be very hesitant to deal with them. There is always another vehicle out there someplace...

This was a great experience from start to finish. They walked us through each step of the way and answered all our questions! Definitely coming back when our daughter needs a car!

We just bought our second car from this dealership. We had a great experience start to finish both times! The people we dealt with were very knowledgeable of different cars and features and options and kept working with us till we found the right fit. Highly recommend!

I have to compliment Laurie! She is THE REASON I bought my Jetta and offered a fantastic experience from start to finish and beyond. Laurie communicated well, and made sure she was in touch and able to be reached as needed and continues to follow through after I’ve brought my Jetta home. I would highly recommend speaking with her when you’re ready for your next VW! Thanks Laurie & VW Old Saybrook!

Really below 1 star. We had a 2012 diesel Passat we had serviced there a few times. Never really had a bad experience until the VW diesel fraud, when we turned in car and tried to buy a new one. The sales leader there lied to me on several occasions, and sent me an email documenting the lies. So we bought a new gas Passat elsewhere. And had it serviced at a general shop, not VW. When it started consuming oil at fairly low miles, we brought it to Saybrook VW. They said normal to use a quart every 1000 miles. A year later it's not running right and we bring it in. They replace an oil switch. A few weeks later the car is now using 2 quarts every 1000 miles. Their solution - replace engine. At 75000 miles? A car that was maintained correctly? So I did my own investigation and found the PCV valve was defective. When I looked at engine after bringing back from Saybrook VW, after taking engineer cover off, I found a mouse nest. So either Saybrook VW did not take cover off or they did and couldn't be bothered removing the nest. Disgraceful either way Don't bring your VW there. Plenty of more skilled and more honest places to go

My heterosexual life partner had gone to the dealership over the weekend and test drove a 2019 white Jetta R-Line. She was very happy with the car and decided she wanted to go back and take a look together and make an offer. She called ahead, letting her salesperson Tim know when we would arrive to look at the white Jetta R-Line that she looked at this weekend. I get out of the car, and Tim is approaching and starts telling me to get a copy of the registration. Not sure who Tim thinks I work for, but I can assure him it isn't Tim or Valenti. Tim spends some time looking over our trade. He tells us he is going to pull the car we are looking at around, but after a pretty long period of time, a 2021 Black Jetta R-Line. Obviously we immediately questioned this switch, and we were told the White car had been 'traded to Mystic'. Huh? You knew we were coming and what we were coming for. We offered to purchase the newer vehicle for the same price as the car we looked at, but Tim didn't seem to be too entertained by that. I thought it was fair after the weird and shady story we got. He disappears for a while, without an explanation. We almost left because we had no idea if he was coming back or not. But we had to stay because he was holding our trade in car's registration hostage inside. When he does come back, it is with the original 2019 White Jetta?! I start looking at it and have to ask if they keep their cars in a cow pasture. Both cars had debris sticking out of them, and this white car is caked in mud and filth and the inside is filthy as well. More filthy on the inside than any car I have seen before. I start walking around the car inspecting the tires. Not expecting to find much with only 17k miles on it, but always good to check. I notice the tread on the rear tires is a lot less than the fronts. I notice melted rubber on the front fender. We notice that there is a newly caved in front fender with blue paint transfer, but the blue paint isn't also on the front wheel, it is on the rear wheel with no painted surface showing damage back there. We point this out with a healthy dose of "WTF?" to Tim, and he admits that wasn't there on Saturday, but is now there on Monday. So he is trying to sell a car that he knows got crashed in the last day or two, had the wheels and tires swapped after doing burnouts/donuts/whatever and thinking, I guess, that we wouldn't notice? There was also damage to the hood projecting up from the hood, where someone had left something under the hood and slammed the hood on it. There was also jack damage under the driver's side quarter panel where an idiot didn't know how to use a jack. Probably the same one that smashed the car up and tried to cover it up. So if shady business is your thing, I would highly recommend this dealership. Thanks for wasting our time. We won't be doing business there. For reference, the VIN was 3VWC57BU3KM015631 I guess they need to disclose that damage now. Ooops.
