FRAUDULENT BUSINESS
I purchased a "certified pre-owned" 2019 Alltrack in March 2024 from Valenti Volkswagen of Old Saybrook. They deleted my original review, therefore I have left the review on all Valenti Auto Group properties.
This was a make, model and color that I wanted specifically and made the four hour drive from Delaware to Connecticut.
Five minutes into our four hour ride home, we heard a loud flapping noise and the car was violently pulled to the left. We immediately drove back to Valenti VW. Service determined the spoiler under my newly purchased "certified pre-owned" car had ripped off and would need to be fixed. It was zip-tied to the front bumper and we drove back to DE.
This was only the beginning of what has been a months-long ordeal with this specific dealer.
I had a used car inspection performed at my local dealership. My service advisor asked to see the Pre-Owned Certified Checklist that all vehicles must pass in order to qualify. I reached out to Valenti and was told it "must have gone to my spam folder." This is a physical legal form with a carbon copy that I should have received during purchase, it is not electronic. The form was emailed to me showing two large Xs where our signatures should be, the form was never shown to us nor presented at the time of sale. It showed the Alltrack had "passed" all inspection points. Even things that were a known issue were marked as passed. (For example: The vehicle had no floor mats but according to the list we never saw, they had supplied them.) The used car inspection also revealed poorly corrected body damage that had been corrected with filler and the fender claddings cut to fit the poorly repaired, damaged fender, loose fog light casing on the damaged side and issues with the paint correction, wheel damage, etc. I was asked to have the vehicle inspected for Delaware registration. Upon taking the Alltrack to the DMV, it FAILED INSPECTION. It failed as the OBD port had been tampered with rendering it unpassable without being fixed.
Furthermore my trade in was MODIFED, so despite it having NO FACTORY SUSPENSION OR MUFFLER, it was listed and sold as a CPO vehicle under Valenti VW. At this point, it had become clear that I was dealing with a fraudulent dealership.
I reached out to Valenti VW again, as well as VWCares to make a claim. I began speaking to the service manager. I am unsure if he is a liar or bad at his job. He kept assuring me they had no idea there was a problem with the OBD port, BUT according to their own maintenance history they replaced a part on the car where they would have accessed the OBD port. They clearly knew it was an issue.
My dealership had a quote created in order to fix all the issues, it needed this work in order to validate the CPO checklist they claimed it had passed.
The Certified Pre-owned 2019 Alltrack from Valenti VW of Oldsaybrook needed about 7k worth of work.
Valenti VW drug their feet the entire length of my case. They would often withhold information from me but tell my case manager they'd offered solutions never previously discussed. They told me they would give me 2k towards repairs, they told VWCares the same but included they could buy back the vehicle. I chose the buy back.
I asked them to pick up the vehicle and they kept pushing back the date. In order to facilitate an end to this ordeal and because the ineptitude of this dealership is unmatched, I drove the car back.
They knew on Monday I was driving the car up Friday. They did not give me a check total until 10 minutes prior to closing Thursday evening. It was for less than my trade in value. I called back to discuss this with the manager, he'd left for the day and was not coming in the following day.
I went through with it as I was ready to be done and there was no way I was get

Had to have my VW towed they fit me in to their schedule. I can’t say enough about how well I was treated. Dave in service was especially busy the day I picked up my car but he took his time explaining what was done and what I should do. Over all I had a great experience! I would highly recommend. Also they send you a video to show you what the problem is which was really impressive.

Update on my review.
After my less than stellar review a few weeks ago, Danny McDuffie, the sales manager reached out to me regarding my remarks.
At that point, I wasn’t ready to speak, however, Danny kept contact. He was polite and not pushy. He just wanted to see if he could make things right.
After several conversations via phone, I felt comfortable enough to go in and I was impressed with Danny’s empathy and willingness to spend time with me to explain what he could do to make things right.
Danny has been there for many years. When my wife and I bought the car, he was the finance manager and he’s since been promoted.
They made the right choice. He took responsibility for someone else’s mess and when it’s time for us to lease another car this summer, we will give Valenti the first shot at a purchase.

I was 300+ miles from home and my car was vibrating after hitting a pothole. The service department rotated 2 damaged front wheels/rims to the rear of the car and said it was OK to drive home, but that I needed to replace the bad wheels/rims. I am very grateful for their practical approach which got me home safely.

My salesperson was Anthony R. I had a unique situation that required a bit more work than normal. Anthony was super patient and helpful throughout the whole process. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to go through him to purchase a vehicle. Thanks again!

Great product and easy transaction. Great lease deal, pricing was a major factor in choosing the vw id4! We love the simple German engineering as well. The tech layout is easy to get used to.

Bought a used 2 year old Subaru here. You would think that the cars a new car dealer sells would be thoroughly inspected and any issues would be resolved before placing used cars for sale in their lot. Especially considering their sister dealership is a Subaru dealer.
I full take responsibility for not requiring an inspection from a third party, but I never expected to find so many problems with the car I purchased from these guys. The day I took delivery, it was pouring rain, so conditions for inspecting the car were tough.
The windshield had two small cracks/chips. There was hidden front end damage - no accidents on Carfax. Two rear tires had very little life left.
I might expect this from a independent used car dealer, but not a new car dealer.
Really poor job Old Saybrook VW. You can do much better that that!
