Tried to join the club; the wine never arrived. Horrible customer service. What a shame. Both WSJ Wine and FedEx have just gone downhill

I have always been fond of WSJ Wine and have, in the past, recommended it to folks who are looking for ways to gift wine to people who don't live near them. I absolutely cannot recommend them now. I have ordered wine multiple times since 2018. During this time, the company had delays in shipping my order, sent the wrong wine twice, and has charged me for wines that I didn't purchase. In January of this year, I received a notice saying I owed them $20. I had paid in full for the last box of wine I purchased for the holidays, so I wasn't sure why I was receiving this notice. I called customer service, and they said they would escalate the issue to resolve it. I heard nothing back. Then about a month later, I received another letter requesting payment. Again, I called customer service. They confirmed that there were no outstanding charges on my account, so again, I didn't send any money. And so on. Each time, I got a letter, the representative would tell me I didn't have any charges, escalate the issue, and I wouldn't hear anything back. Until today. I received a letter from a collections agency for my $20 of outstanding debt to the company. As usual, I called customer service and was told the same thing. This is absolutely unacceptable. I called multiple times over months to get the issue resolved. I was told multiple times it would be fixed, and it was not. Now I have to contend with a debt collection agency over $20. Absolutely ridiculous and disappointing. And a shame, since I used to quite like the wines I would get through the company.

Wines were fine but customer service was beyond bad. Shipment was Fedex but that took weeks. Then, when I was alerted that I absolutely positively had to be home to sign for the package, you guessed it, I punched in the tracking number and it told me that I hadn't been home. Repeatedly. Trying to get the delivery was like being imprisoned in my apartment for days. WSJ's comment? Oh, can't you just stay home from work a few days? Fedex always says "for security reasons" we don't know the driver's name or truck number. So they won't do anything either. AND WSJ CHARGES YOU FULL FARE FOR THIS DELIVERY SYSTEM.

Not long ago I read in the New York Times' Ethicist column, a question that someone had posed: They'd learned that a friend they'd recommended for a job at their firm had been hired but - with remote work and all - this person failed to disclose that they were also holding another full-time job. I think that person might work in WSJwine's Customer Service Department. After signing up for the initial offering I canceled my membership with an email to WSJwine and got no response. Months passed and I returned home to find a case of wine at my door and no accompanying invoice. Not my problem, I surmised, as I'd canceled my membership. Many more months elapse. I get a letter from WSJwine saying that they cannot ship my next case of wine until I pay for the previous case. No more wine from a wine club to which I'd long ago canceled my membership? Perfect. I felt no sense of urgency to respond. A couple of weeks pass and another case of wine arrives at my door. It's time to pick up the phone. Here's what was agreed to several weeks ago: * My membership would be canceled. Finally. * The case of wine shipped after my earlier cancelation would be written off. * They would mail me a FedEx return label to ship back the latest case of wine at their expense. Here's what's happened to date: * I received a letter advising members of upcoming price changes. (I am not supposed to be a member any longer). * I have not received a FedEx label. * A case of wine remains in my entryway. There is absolutely nothing wrong with WSJwines but their ability to execute instructions is abysmal. All of these wine clubs offer great promotional offers and ones such as Firstleaf actually follow instructions to cancel memberships following receipt of those promotional deals. I'm not really one to complain about wine showing up at my doorstep but 24 bottles later I've begun to wonder what it will take to get this company to stop shipping wine to a person who has no intention or obligation to pay for it.

Dreadful service. Orders disappear or are not delivered. At least they give you your money back, but it's a must to avoid.

The customer service is atrocious. Three different conversations produced three different (rather murky) explanations. I have no idea what has happened to my wine or when it will come. Also FEDEX keeps marking stuff as delivered and signed for, when neither occurred.
