Jean has emerged from the alleyway to occupy the once burgeoning store called Beadworks! The Restaurant on the corner of Water and Washington streets is a the perfect final stop for a time well spent where the good vibes flow!
Jean has expanded her footprint to the delight of those who have joined the swelling ranks in the wool addicted as well as those who have suffered through the night attempting to think their way through a pile of yarn knitted by the cat.
She’s the crochet goddess of the street, who has the patience of a saint with an avid knitter who thinks my way around challenges… either successfully or disastrously, having learned the best lesson from Jean… when the project starts to take on a serious detour not resembling a person. Just stop when the earth starts spinning out of control, put stoppers on your needles, highlight the last row correctly worked, wrap the pattern, tools, notions and notes, in tissue, wait for a well rested morning, fresh coffee, after some self care, a delicious treat from the Sono Baking Company around the corner from Jean. Enjoy, breathe. Then, importantly, wash your hands and open your package!
I’m going to sleep now because I need to be leaning up against Jean s door in the morning!

Jean’s Closet is one of the few gems left on Washington street, Norwalk CT. Tucked away in a corner of Washington st is a cozy store where everything is knitted by the owner (Jean). From hats, scarf, sweater , something for your pet. If you don’t see what you want, ask, and if, Possible, Jean will knit it. In a street dominated with loud bars, this is an oasis and a gem

Jean has a magical talent for repairing anything knitted. She just repaired our scarves and sweaters that were attacked by moths -- and they all look perfect again. Plus, if you need a surprise for just about anyone, her store is full of excellent knitted gifts, and supplies for knitters. It's rare these days to find a showcase for one-of-a-kind local crafts. So it's definitely worth swinging by SoNo to meet Jean and check out her store -- then walk over to Eco Dude for their amazing cookies and snacks. Your sweaters will thank you, and you'll feel lucky to have Jean as a new friend.

My mom and I stopped into Jean's Closet looking for some yarn for a shawl for my upcoming wedding. She had some gorgeous good quality yarn, but not in the exact color I was looking for (I was being picky). Jean went above and beyond finding color options and addressing all of our concerns. She gave us a great price as well! I would recommend her to anybody looking for great yarn to knit or crochet!

The best yarn store in the area. Also, they have amazing crochet and knitting classes that helped me a lot with improving my technique and learning new patterns.

What a delightful find for shoppers and resource for crocheters and knitters! Jean's hand-crocheted sweaters, accessories, and home goods are unique gifts. I took a crochet class and completed an afghan; now I'm knitting a project from an Urth Yarn (one of the brands Jean carries in store) pattern. A welcoming, must-see in SoNo!
