For more than a decade, as soon as my cars aged out of factory warranty, I have gone to Tom to service a Porsche, BMW's (4) and Mercedes. He is knowledgeable, employs top-notch people and has performed flawlessly with no exceptions. His pricing is always honest, transparent and very competitive compared to dealer quotes. I'm a fussy individual with considerable knowledge of automotive repair so it is difficult for me to find techs I believe or trust, however I am completely comfortable leaving my cars in Tom's hands.

Not at all happyI dropped my car off with a coolant leak - asked them to locate leak and call me - they charged me an incredible mind blowing one and a half hours to diagnose a leaking Radiator and wanted to charge me 1800 to replace it.They also refused to have Mr provide the replacement.Cost on internet for Radiator for that vehicle - low end about 150, high quality about 400. Book estimate for labor for Radiator swap that car - two and a half hours.Coolant - max 100So @ 150 per hour that would be labor - 375, parts say 400 max and coolant 100 = 875 absolute max billing. These people are charlatans. I look with avid interest at their attempt to refute this.Oh and by the way, although I was as polite as you please, I was gruffly told that I had to pay the 'diagnostic' bill before they released the car - I have no idea what kind of low life they took me for, and when I told them it would take maybe a day or two before I got a tow truck there, they started talking about storage charges. I do not recommend these people. My vehicle is now on its way to a reputable honest shop.

Had a terrible experience today. Took my car there for an alignment explaining that I was told that that was what was needed to stop the noise. The noise started after the wheels were rotated and I was told by the other place that all it was needed was an alignment. The person today after hearing my explanation mentioned that sounds like something else. I wouldn’t have mind paying to get the real problem fixed. Was under the impression he was going to let me know if it was something else needed to be done. Got the car back with the noise and was charged for the alignment. My previous mechanic used to always call me and tell me what needed to be done to fix the problem going far and beyond to ensure safety. Sad he is no longer around can’t find a trustworthy place that is actually willing to help ??.

!!!WARNING...DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS BUSINESS! Tom the owner of Auto Repair Specialists is not trustworthy or reliable!!!!! (Please note that Mulqueen and Mitchell Auto Repair changed names...and for good reason...the new name is Auto Repair Specialists of Norwalk.) By way of background, we had been bringing our cars to Tom (the owner) for repairs for probably 3-4 years and initially, he seemed like a really good guy who was very honest and reliable. Based on his track record with our car repairs, we decided to buy a used car from him. We test drove the car and it seemed to be in good condition - Tom really confirmed that it was a great car. After doing a little research on Consumer Reports combined with Tom's reputation, we felt very comfortable with making the purchase. I purchased the car on a credit card because I was not going to be back in the area for about a week (BTW, Tom charges a transaction fee of a couple of hundred dollars if you use a credit card). We had to make arrangements to pick up the car on a weekend when the shop was closed due to my work schedule. So Tom said he would leave the keys in the car under the driver's seat. What he conveniently forgot to tell us is that he had only one key fob for the car. When I contacted him on Monday to ask about the spare key, he said that he never said that he had a second key fob and that he was selling the car as is. TRULY UNBELIEVABLE!!!! You think he could have told us this factor BEFORE we bought the car!!! But because we thought he was so trustworthy, we presumed that he was being fully transparent and that we could rely on him...obviously NOT the case. We had to waste a lot more time working directly with a dealer to obtain another key fob which cost about $350.00! On top of this, the car (which Tom had inspected and assured us was in great shape) started to have issues a few months later with the electrical system and signals. Good old reliable Tom was not interested in helping us out...he said he sold the car "As Is" and offered no type of discount to repair the car - this new bill was about another $1200.00!!! At this point, I wanted nothing more to do with good old reliable Tom but because we had his mechanic diagnose the problem, he was going to charge us a couple of hundred dollars for the mechanic review so we went forward with the repair. Needless to say....learn from my mistake....do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy a car from this bum. (I have actually never left any type of review before for any type of service anywhere on the internet but since Tom was such a bum with this transaction, I felt I needed to leave this feedback for the public.)

I recently moved to Fairfield County CT. I am an A.S.E. Certified Master Technician that teaches automotive technology at a trades and technical high school in Westchester County NY. This past summer, I experienced a problem with one of my vehicles that needed immediate attention. After asking around for recommendations, I wound up at Auto Repair Specialists. Tommy and his crew were great! My problem was diagnosed correctly the first time, an estimate was given, and the repair was made on time and for less than the estimate! These guys did not know that I was a professional technician until after they returned the vehicle to me. My experience was great and I would definitely recommend Auto Repair Specialist to my neighbors! Thanks Tommy!

Brought my car in for brakes and an oil change, had to bring my car back twice because the brake pedal was going to the floor, also they overfilled the master cylinder with brake fluid. Also, every service I specifically ask them to check my transmission fluid (closed system), they say they do and even indicate on the bill it was checked, after a heated and rude conversation with Tom, he even hung up the phone on me, brought my car to another shop to be checked and my transmission fluid was low 2.5 quarts, system holds 9.5; Tom likes to smile and sweet talk but does not perform!!!
