EDITED on 4/19. A Customer Service Manager contacted me to issue a refund for the difference in price & apologized for the confusing message about price match. Since I did have both receipts, I would be eligible for the refund. I think a new employee misunderstood their policy. They also gave me bonus points and a coupon which I felt was very nice and very good customer service!

Nice selection of products. Also, nice suction or barbecue grill Also had a good mulch sale is a good selection of different types of mulch some was Connecticut produced

Ive been coming to Smithland for months for guina pig bedding, hay, dog treats and food for my cat. Employee Camden has been extremely helpful picking out the best dog treats and even helped putting the hay into my car.

Incredible staff this past Saturday morning! We were greeted when we came in, and when we needed assistance on a recommendation for a good dog treat, a staff member went out of his way to lead us to the good stuff. We also got a bale of hay and the team member stationed outdoors in back was responsive, friendly and loaded it in the car for us. Happy with this location and wouldn't hesitate to return! Thank you!

I really like this store but I have had 2 bad experiences with the staff at checkout. Being in the retail business myself I am always aware of how the customers are treated. On two different occasions I was not charged for an item. The first one was a $90.00 cat perch which I didn’t realize the mistake until a week later but I drove back and paid for the perch. The 2nd time I was not charged for a $38.00 large bag of cat food. Luckily I checked my receipt outside and went back in and paid for the food. I know people make mistakes but I was not even thanked for coming back and paying for those items. A little appreciation goes a long way. I know it seems like a small thing but it does stick with you.Had to change my review. One day after I posted the above review I received a phone call from the store manager who was very nice and concerned about my experience at his store. I was very impressed and appreciative. I will definitely be continuing to shop at his store. Thank you!

Really sad experience at my local Smithland today in North Haven. I brought a propane tank in for refill and when I got home I noticed it was leaking. When I brought it back the manager said he wouldn’t do anything for me except refund the cost of the propane refill because I couldn’t show that the refill had anything to do with the failed valve. I explained to him that although I could not prove it there were no issues with the valve when cooking using the tank the day before. Although I didn’t expect a free replacement, most places would have at least given a discount on a new tank given that the valve broke when they were refilling it. Very disappointing. I suggest people might want to take their business elsewhere now that Smithland has taken over Agway and it’s just another corporate place that doesn’t care about long time customers.

I go in here for anything for my pets, garden, or for the backyard birds. Whenever I have a question or need help they are always available. Very convenient too!

I just moved to the area recently and let me tell you this place is a step above the rest. I was in the location this past week after going to 4 other pet stores in the area. To be quite honest I walked in and was confused, Pet Store and Hardware as I had never been to an Agway before I was prepared to not have anyone know anything about pet food. That is where I was wrong, I got the best education on Pet food I have ever received. I spoke with store Manager Mike and his assistant Marissa who’s knowledge on pet food blew me away. I walked in having so many issues with the food I was buying being out of stock and my dog being very very sensitive even the vet was at a loss. I ended up purchasing Instinct Dog food after hearing all the benefits with it and even hearing that instinct was the brand Mike is feeding was reassuring. As I was checking out we ended up talking about lawns and that’s what took me over the edge. Not only pet knowledge but, they knew about grass. The conversation and tips and tricks they each gave me were amazing. Something I would have never gotten at any Home Depot or Lowes. Mike and his team got a loyal customer out of me!
