This review is for meat department at the Kitts Lane store. I had a very unpleasant experience shopping there today. Since I rarely cook steaks I wanted to ask a simple question about marinating a London Broil steak to make it tender. The woman working there was unable to answer that question so I thought I might ask a gentleman who I saw working in the back in the authorized associates only area. I signaled that I wanted to ask him a question, but he did nothing to help me after I saw him again in the front shopping area of the store. It was like he was giving me the "brush off". I gave up on buying the steak. I continued with the rest of my shopping. I returned after purchasing all my other items to buy a meat item once again. I saw a buy 1 get 1 free deal on Carondo meatballs so I planned to buy them since they could be refrozen according to what the packaging said. I'm going to freeze one and use the other within a few days, however, I wanted a question answered about how long I had to use it before refreezing and no one was available to answer that question either. I went to courtesy desk and the gentleman there couldn't find the use by or refreeze date either so he called meat department twice and no one was available to answer. A very pleasant woman who just showed up in the courtesy desk area did her best to make it right. She saw the gentleman who I believed was a manager in the meat department come by and she asked him about the expiration date again. Once again the "brush off". He was too busy to help me. The pleasant woman was finally able to answer my question, but she could tell I was very unhappy with the service from the manager I received. I have been to this location many times, but never experienced bad service like I did today. I have had people pleasant and helpful in asking questions in the meat department. I'm not sure what the gentleman's name is , but he had gray hair and was wearing a light blue short sleeved dress shirt and was at this Stop & Shop on Kitts Lane between the hours of 2 to 4 PM on Wednesday Jan. 3, 2024. If I never speak to this man again, it will be just fine. I will always remember who he is, but will never ask him anything again. It's time for me to do more shopping at Price Chopper or Big Y. Stop & Shop may have more generic items with their brand, but reviews I've read suggest to me that Big Y has better meat and customer service than Stop & Shop. I believe Stop & Shop has the worse customer service of all super market chains and their prices are not cheap. They want customers to shop, use self checkout, bag your own groceries and don't dare ask any questions. Do it all yourself, give us your money and go. Their philosophy must be if we're open, they will automatically come. I see very few smiles among associates in this Kitts Lane store. If I decide to return to Stop& Shop, I will go to another location, not this store. I personally know another meat department manager at another Stop & Shop who happens to be my neighbor and has worked at this location before and see if he knows anything about this man at the Kitts Lane location. I doubt if anyone from Stop & Shop will respond to this review if the store's profit margins fall within line of their expectations.

DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS AT THIS STORE!! Bought a Google play card for $100 and it was a scam! Neither the customer service representative nor the manager was sympathetic or helpful. Both said "Not our problem!"

Never in my life have I been watched over in a self checkout than today. Three different associates were watching my mom in law and I while in the self checkout. I don't know what you all thought I was going to do with the groceries, but I paid for them like the taxpayer that I am. I wasn't there to shoplift. Shame on all of you! Disgusting!

Worst Deli service in America. They make you feel bad just for ordering something. They don’t smile, roll their eyes and act like you’re inconveniencing them if you want cheese and Turkey.

Joey was my cashier and he was really, really nice. Just left, still in the parking lot. I tried to call customer service just to let the manager know how personable he was but the phone rang forever so I decided to leave a review instead. He was just that nice that I had to let someone know! Thanks, Joey!

OMG! Kathy the cashier in the floral department did such a wonderful job at making this beautiful bouquet. Can’t thank her enough and Stop & Shop for having such an amazing cashier.

It’s local for me so it’s okay for quick stop essentials but a bit pricey for most items, I buy in bulk at my other store but stop and shop for convenience

They are terrible,went in last week during the day,and there was a man above the veggies spaying paint on the ceiling to cover up the bad tiles, and u can imagine where the spray particles were and the smell was overwhelming I. And today went in and ordered ham from the deli and there is such a terrible order coming from were the meats are in the glass,and then I ordered sliced ham to to cut like sandwich meat and got home and it was so thick and also the grape fruit got home and it was rotten in the inside ,iam so done with this store.

Picked up photo birthday cake for my husband Saturday, July 1st, 2023. The cake was fantastically perfect. The artistry was outstanding and taste and texture superb. The young man that took my order a few days before was very professional, accommodating and accurate in taking my information. Highly recommend this location's bakery personnel.

The old caucasian ladies working at the registers seem really racist and extra for no reason. Today my wife was checking out in self checkout and she herself asked for assistance to get her bottom items scanned(coke,water) and after having them scanned another lady comes up to her and asks her if she wants to get the bottom items scanned and after my wife told her she got them scanned already by asking for help she started questioning wether my wife paid for the extra bags which she replied yes to.Then afterwards a toy that was 2 for $5 rang up as $6 each and my wife voiced that it’s on sale for 2 for $5 the lady again sneered that theirs 2 different sizes. My wife said she’s aware of that and that she got the right size and told the lady she can check for herself. The lady came back with bigger toy to measure them side by side to make sure it’s the right size. we have lived in this neighborhood for a very long time and have never experienced such treatment before. This can’t be employees simply being over efficient. My wife felt uncomfortable by their tone, body language, and way of questioning one thing after the other. Stop & Shop please train your employees to provide better customer service and be friendly especially to Mothers with small children instead of being miserable and racist and taking out their frustrations on customers.

This store is declining fast..... you can see the building itself looking dirty inside and out. The service is deplorable...the manager Tom has no idea how bad it is or doesn't care. the self checkout is a disaster...repeatedly need the cashiers to come and clear a fault. Why do they have us doing the work for the same price as full service.....bought 19 items today and had to wait 4 times for the cashier to come and swipe and clear the faults. went to the customer service window and waited almost 10 minutes and it was not staffed. 3 others were waiting as well. Finally got the manager to come over and asked him where was the employee (who finally did stroll over) whow as supposed to be there and he replied" I Dont Know". guess they can manage their own lil work space as they see fit? weird. how many employees stocking produce do you need... saw 4 in there ... moving at a turtles pace... minimum wage is up to $15 per hr and yet they move slower than when it was $7 or $8 an hour. Not a team for sure... no helping other workers ...the manager has no idea why the systems have so many faults or where everyone is... After struggling to get my Stop Shop card to scan which required help from a cashier...when I paid and got the receipt guess what...It never took it....whats the point? People say thats the way it is these days.... why do we need to accept that?? prices are up..produce is terrible, small, old, and not stocked. The seafood counter - the woman there was standing still watching us as we walked past- im sure that everything was cleaned , wiped down, stocked...or am I? if that's so ..go out nearby and help others. Oh wait thats not her job is it...OMG this needs to stop everywhere.Obviously there are choices..so you may ask why do i go there...well I had to stop at other places in the plaza so I went in..... should have and will make a different choice next time.The more we accept this the more of it we get.Tom -the manager is responsible for all that happens in there - thats his job isnt it? But his answer was..."I Dont Know" and it wasnt about only the missing worker at the customer service desk..he said it multiple times...why does the self checkouts need so much attending to...why are the shelves so poorly stocked - why isnt someone calling for more cashiers tot he front if there are delays etc..."I Don Know" so it starts at the top and filters down.

I frequent different Stop & Shops weekly depending on where my travels take me. This was the first time I went here. This location had one of the worst bakery/pie selections of any Stop & Shop location that I'd ever been to. Also, the roof seems to be heavily leaking, there were many many buckets of water all over the store and ceiling tiles were clearly water damaged. Don't think I'll be coming back to this one!

I’m visiting in Connecticut taking care of my mom so I decided to go here to do some grocery shopping for her. Today I was at register 2 waiting in line which felt like forever because this lady was freaking out about not having paper bags when the store ran out. Not sure why she can’t understand there’s a national shortage with paper bags but that’s beside the point. Anyways, the cashier Will I think his name was not sure to be honest since that was an experience but he handled it so professionally. He was very sweet, kind, and understanding towards her but she was having an adult tantrum and acting like a literal child. I think the way he handled the situation he should definitely get a raise. I hope I get to go through his line sooner than later!

I was helping my mother with her grocery shopping and Debbie approached us with a smile and asked us if she can help us. Debbie realized we were having trouble getting our discount. She didn’t hesitate to go above and beyond with kindness to help us get it resolved.

I don’t like to provide negative reviews but I must be forthcoming in this case. Recently, I have had a series of issues with different members of the staff (i.e. Michelle on 12/11/22) at this location. My issue(s) mainly have to deal with how the staff behaves when customers are around. I’m not sure how they actually interact with the customers outside of myself, however, their conduct in the presence of me is unacceptable and there is significant room for improvement in my humble opinion. In addition, they need to understand that with inflation many individuals are under pressure to try to get the best bang for their buck and don’t need to be distracted while grocery shopping by the staff’s lack of professionalism. Furthermore, the staff needs to understand that their jobs are primarily customer facing and that requires for them to deal with people of all personalities in a positive way. I hope this criticism is taken constructively and that there is a corrective action swiftly put into place at this location. Fortunately, there are many alternatives in proximity to this grocery store. I will advise my relative who lives nearby to explore those other options until something is done by management to fix this behavior trend.
