Not a bad place. Some prices on things are more expensive than in other places, and some are cheaper. I wish they had more fresh bread but it will definitely do.

I was at the Big Y location in New Milford CT, 9/3/2023. I made my way to the self-checkout area and proceeded to scan my items. I had about 20/21 items which included 2 cases of water. Suddenly, one of your employees (a mature woman) came over to me and questioned my scanning the 2 cases of water. She then reached over and proceeded to back me out of the screen I was in to enter bag quantity in order to check to see if I was telling the truth. I said to her "I scanned 2 cases of water." She could then see for herself that I was telling the truth and when I questioned her actions, she told me she needed to see if something needed to be cleared, walked away. I have been going to Big Y for years. I have been to the location in Monroe CT, Bethel CT and now this one since it is the closet one to me. I go there several times a week and I have been a faithful customer for years. (including myself, friends and family). I have never been more insulted by the fact that this employee suspected I would steal from your location and did not apologize for her inappropriate actions. I paid for my groceries and left. Once I arrived home, I called and spoke to a gentleman/manager by the name of Carson*. Speaking with him, he said he would let the manager/supervisor who oversees that area of the store know and apologized for my upsetting experience. I also requested to be contacted because I need to know why this happened to me. As I said to Carson, I certainly hope it was not because of my skin color. I felt like I was targeted because I did not see anyone else getting questioned or treated the way I was. To feel discriminated, insulted and to be treated this way is wrong on so many levels. Until I hear back from someone, I will not be going back there. I do hope no one else ever has to experience what I went through went through.

When I first bought here, I was a snob about not going to Big Y. Well, it was justified back then because most main stream supermarkets failed to carry items to support a vegan / veg / healthy lifestyle. Now Big Y does and also has great indulgence items like pizza and killer donuts. You can also find nice specials on random items. For instance, Adirondack chairs are on sale for $29.95 and you really do not need to spend hundreds on "higher quality" ones - the right look is there for the price. So, I can wholeheartedly recommend Big Y to stock up on your country retreat supplies.

We went to another market in the area first. This place blew that place out of the water. Seriously this market was amazing. All I kept saying was how much nicer this place was. They had everything. If in the area this is the supermarket to go to.

Me and my wife are new to the area. First off the staff here is very kind and helpful. 2. The place is spotless. 3. The meat is phenomenal. 4. The prices are great and they usually always have a good sale on something. Highly recommend!

Eric in the meats department is the most helpful guy ever! As a home chef, I consult him on my dinner plans and meat experiments. He is SUPER helpful as his knowledge of meats is amazing. Please take great care of him!

Disappointed that it is August 27 and I see a young male management staff member, with pony tail with his mask below his nose..it wasn't slipping he chose that. I saw him multiple times in multiple place. Management should set an example. Amazed I saw a customer let in that had no mask at all...I was going to say something but if you don't know but now you are endangering people and the store enforced NOTHING...I'd be wasting my energy. Be aware if you go. Have reached out to Big Y corporate many times since March. No response. Maybe the governor will be interested.

Thank you to all of the wonderful staff during these strange times. Big Y has been there all along before and during our world crisis.

First visit to Big Y in New Milford. Didn't cover the whole store as I only needed a few things. One thing that I bought from the pharmacy shelves was omeprazole. When I got home, I found that the pack had previously been opened and two of the tablets had gone. I didn't use them as I didn't like the fact that a drug pack had been interfered with. I have never seen that anywhere in 20 years of using this drug. I will Bring the pack back to the store tomorrow and hope that this does not reflect more broadly on standards in this store

Nice layout, clean, and easy to navigate around the store. We were inquiring where to find the bakery department for a fresh bagel, and the manager Ed took the time to walk us over to the other side of the store to the exact location where the delicious bagels are kept. Thanks, Ed! Compared to Boston they have very cheap prices and this is a very economical place to shop.

Outstanding service! Customer Service manager Lisa went above and beyond to solve a last minute Christmas Eve crisis for my family. She and the entire staff were courteous and efficient and before I knew it the problem was solved and I was out the door! Bravo!

MORE than hALF OF THE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. The others need to be brought up to speed and either change or leave:-) (Male)Manager that i have spoken with several times is excellent-he listens and he makes the right decisions. and he is always friendly. Some of the priduce men are rude but several are very helpful! Again, the employees need reviewing! The good ones are a blessing then once in a while you get a grouchy one who refuses to help and it gets difficult until you find the manager.... The prices are ridiculously high and I don't shop for much there anymore...wastes money. i find their signature brand foods disgusting in flavor and amount of serving. sorry but it is what it is. I can't find alot of brands and items i want-this has happened way too many times. A smile at the register goes a long way. When i get up to my turn in line and i am greeted with barely a look...i ask "don't you like your job?" and usually get no answer....sigh... Aldi's foods are cleaner, cheaper more fresh. Maybe they have no frills but they deliver what i need much much much better. It's our hard earned money...and Big Y is still trying to fool you at the Entenman's Sale table.....enough grocery store "tricks" please. That nonsense was started long ago and really has no place in the world. A big 2 for 1 sale sign over all of the good stuff then it turns out that the sale is for crappy boring donuts...lol aren't you embarrassed? I guess Mr Heiney wasn't either....
