“I live outside of DC and go to a number of Michelin star restaurants… I will flatly say I have had meals that equalled Union League but never one that exceeded it. Couple in their very reasonable pricing, gorgeous building, great staff and this place is extraordinary. I will be visiting my sister in Milford more often in the future :-)!”

“I have nothing but amazing things to say about NHLC. It is a stunning venue and so unique with its art deco style. The food was delicious; we had nothing but compliments the entire night in regards to the service and staff. Christine and Karen are THE BEST. So incredibly helpful and truly know what they are doing; we had the best wedding and wouldn't change a thing. NHLC is above and beyond!”

“We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Blake Hotel in New Haven, and it has swiftly ascended into our top 5 favorite accommodations, a prestigious list that includes the likes of the Ranahan in Breckenridge CO, the Four Seasons in Celebration FL, and the Tennessean in Knoxville. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the valet service, who exemplified courtesy by opening the door for my wife and swiftly unloading our luggage from the rental car. The lobby greeted us with its immaculate cleanliness, and the check-in process was remarkably swift. Our room was located on the fourth floor, a king luxury suite that was notably spacious, encompassing a small kitchenette, living area, and dining space in an open but comfortably vast layout. The bathroom, featuring a single sink, was adequately sized for both my wife and me to prepare for our days. Furthermore, the bedroom was so spacious that even with our luggage, the room felt amply large. If there was any minor quibble, it would be that the floors and ceilings seemed a tad thin. My footsteps echoed, and the sound of guests above us was noticeable, but this is to be expected in a hotel setting as opposed to an Airbnb, making it a negligible issue. However, on an intriguing note, during our 5-night stay, we received a call from the front desk just three minutes after entering our room on the last night concerning a noise complaint. I explained that we had just arrived and mentioned our 8-year-old with Down syndrome was simply walking around the room, to which they responded with understanding and advised us to continue with our evening without worry. Later, around 10 p.m., after my son got out and then back into bed, another complaint was lodged by the guests below us about supposed running and jumping. I reassured the attendant that we were merely walking and humorously suggested that the complainer, seeking utter solitude, perhaps ought to have opted for a cabin in the woods instead. The attendant, sharing in the light-hearted moment, informed us they were obligated to make the call but encouraged us to disregard it. It's empathetic to acknowledge the staff's position in dealing with such difficult complaints. Overall, the hotel was magnificent, the staff exceptional in ensuring our stay was memorable, and we would unequivocally choose to stay here again!”

“I had driven by Sitar for about 7 months now and finally decided to give it a try on a rainy day. I am an avid Indian food lover so whenever there is an opportunity to add a new Indian restaurant to my rotation, I take the chance. When we stepped in there were no patrons inside but there were quite a lot of doordash orders being picked up - glad they are doing well on that front. We sat down and ordered lamb samosa, regular naan, chicken vindaloo, lamb rogan josh, a masala chai, and a thandai. The food exceeded my expectations and was one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in CT. The vindaloo was perfectly hot and seasoned, the lamb rogan josh packed all the seasoning in there that I craved. It overall was great!”

“The Schwarzman Center at Yale is a recent repurposing of two legacy buildings at the heart of campus: the Commons Dining Hall and Memorial Hall, easily recognizable thanks to its dome. It expands the two spaces so that they serve as a student center of sorts, with the goal of bringing community members together over dining, meeting spaces, and the arts.Besides the Commons and Memorial Hall, new spaces and venues include a convenience store, a dance studio, a 21+ pub, function facilities, performance spaces, public art galleries, and study nooks. When I ventured inside to grab a drink on a sunny, warm day spent exploring campus, I found the space vibrant and well-trafficked, particularly in newer eateries with communal seating. The Commons itself, however, appeared to be a grab-and-go affair either due to ongoing Covid measures or due to renovation.Given that it was a nice day, however, students were more likely to head outside than linger indoors.”

“Me and my boyfriend had a good experience staying at Omni New Haven. We chose the hotel based on the location and liked the old charm of the building. We also got a pretty good price. Checking in was super easy and the hotel staff even gave us a list of restaurants which was very kind.We ran into some issues that were resolved (and some that weren’t worth resolving on site but should not really be issues in a 4-star hotel). They’re described in detail below.1. Be aware that the building is old and the HVAC system is not the greatest. We walked into our room and it was 85 degrees! Thankfully the hotel gave us a fan and showed us how to open the window vents (you can’t fully open the windows).2. Because the room was so hot there was a stinkbug in our room. Obviously not ideal.3. I love taking baths and unfortunately the tub stopper didn’t work. By the time I wanted a bath we had been in our room for a night and I didn’t want to move so I just dealt with it. On top of that there was a lot of paint chips on the tub which again, not to be expected in a 4-star reputable hotel. Some highlights of our stay:1. Customer service was excellent. Issues that could be addressed (like the heat) were addressed quickly and without any hassle.2. Delicious fruit water available at the front desk. I looked forward to it every morning.3. The restaurant is delicious and our server was excellent.Overall I would come back but the building as a whole needs some updating if they want to keep their 4-star status!Nearby activities: Yale University, New Haven MuseumWalkability: Perfect location. Close to restaurants, shops, and YaleFood & drinks: Barcelona Wine Bar for Tapas is a MUST”
