I have been there twice once to pay a bill in which I was was told the form of payment I was using wasn’t accepted because it was western union. I told the young man I have been to the Hamden location and New Haven location and haven’t had a problem with paying my bill with this payment I was using. He pointed to the sign behind him and said we can’t accept that form of payment. I said ok and went to the Hamden location and paid my bill with no problem. Went there yesterday to get a money order proceeded to use the same form of payment the young lady who was working customer service proceeded to tell me that form of payment isn’t accepted and I stayers I have used this form of payment at other locations to get money orders. She as well pointed to the sign behind her stating the form payment wasn’t accepted. I told her as well I have been to other location as have used this form of payment with no problem. I left. Today I went to Hamden and got my money order with no problem. I asked the lady at the counter are there different rules for different stores and told her what happened. She said as long as it’s a debit card it’s accepted in which I already knew. I always pay my bills and get money orders from any other location with no problem. Don’t know what’s happening with this location but I won’t be back. The employees need to know the form of payment isn’t accepted when you are sending money through western union. Had nothing to do with bills or money orders

Cashier Lisa was rude to us today. Very abrupt and passive aggressive to us in line for literally no reason. I was starting to put my groceries up on the register and Lisa gave me a look making me feel like I was doing something wrong so I had asked if it was okay that I put my stuff up and she said “Ma’am I’ll talk to you when it’s your turn”. She also wouldn’t let me put my phone number in because it “won’t make a difference in savings” when I tried to explain to her that I want the discounts attached to my account as I utilize the gas points as well and she huffed at me and again said “maam, again it doesn’t make a difference”. I also explained to her that my father works there so I get money off of groceries when it accrues. Again, she ignored my comment. At this point, she told us we were loading the belt wrong and that we needed to place the items closer to one side? I still don’t even know what she was talking about. She also got mad that we did not know how many bags we would need prior to even loading the belt. I’ve never had this problem before because they usually add it on at the end based on how many we ended up needing. We decided not to argue with her and go on with our day but geez- stop and shop needs to work on their customer service! We felt like we were in the twilight zone. Avoid this location if you can…Will not be returning. No wonder everything is moving towards self checkout.

I work nearby so I go to this store often on my lunch break, but I will not be going back after my experience yesterday. I’m giving them two stars because they do have a good selection of products and the store is clean. But the customer service is terrible.
Grapes were listed at $1.29 a pound. I went to a self check out lane and they rung up at $2.99 a pound. I asked for help and the woman who came over yelled at me and said if I had downloaded the on line coupon it would have rung up correctly. She said she would give me the discount “just this one time” but if it happens again she won’t help me. Should I have realized I needed to download the coupon? Yes. Do people make mistakes? Yes. Should I get yelled at and chastised like a child? No. I told her not too worry about it since it was such a huge inconvenience and walked out leaving half a cart full of food, so they lost a $50-$60 sale. And normally I would just brush rbis off to her having a bad day but I just can’t abide poor customer service.

I live in West Haven with another Stop & Shop about 2 mins from my house. Nonetheless, I come out to this one for their amazing steak selections in the meat department located in the rear of the store. I arrived at 8:15am and Sean was absolutely fantastic assisting me with a select cut of meat that I wanted. Thank you again Sean for your amazing customer service. Upon checkout, Robin the cashier informed me of some sales as well as the FlashFood app that I never heard of. Thank you again for your amazing customer service!!! I really appreciate it! I will definitely continue to frequent this store because their service is top-notch.

Worst Stop and Shop I have ever been to my life. I have never dealt with such rude employees and seen such a poorly stocked store. If you don't mind the drive go to the one on Whalley Avenue downtown.
