I was discharged from the hospital after receiving a surgical procedure and waited 2.5 hours to have my prescription filled which delayed my departure. I had concerns about the medications listed early on and called the apothecary to have this resolved but was placed on hold 3 times while in the hospital. The nurses in my unit attempted to communicate via mobile heartbeat but no luck. My nurse physically transported me to the apothecary to pick up my medication. I was charged out of pocket fees but advised of my Cigna and BCBS medical insurance coverage and Caremark coverage under two separate companies. The pharmacist asked if I had Medicaid? Why I don’t understand but advised that I was a clinician employee of the hospital with two separate pharmacy insurance coverage. After much back and forth. I received my medication but the overall experience was very disappointing, poor to say the least.

They deliver later than Rite Aid, but be prepared to have someone answer the phone talking 80 miles per hour,, then puts you on hold for what could be a long time. I gone through this over and over and over again.

I have unfortunately been using their services,including home delivery for about a year now.Every single time I have called,the phone usually rings between 8 and 15 times before it just hangs up on me or on rare occasion I get an answer. This happens during all hours of the day.When they do finally answer, I hear "please hold",then a click sound as the phone is placed on hold, where I generally remain for 10 minutes or more before someone else picks up the phone. Sometimes they start to dial, proving to me that my call was never a priority. This has been every single time I have called,which can be several times a week,as I am on multiple medications that run out at different intervals and cannot always be refilled at the same time,due to insurance limitations.I have been told that "we just delivered to you a few days ago,what do you need now?",and one time they gave the delivery driver the wrong phone number,and since the delivery company is separate from the apothecary there was no way to reach him directly without playing phone tag for an hour. Ultimately the driver never showed up, and I missed taking a very important medication that day. Upon finally reaching the apothecary the next day,I was told that the driver came to my apartment building,and since I hadn't answered the phone call I had never received, I would have to pay a delivery fee. After several more minutes of arguing with the girl, I hung up and had my wife call back awhile later to resolve the issue. She received push back when asking to speak to a manager, but she demanded to, and was finally able to do so.The manager told her that the tech who had answered the phone had no idea what she was talking about, and set up a new delivery. It turns out that for all the times I was assured the driver had been given the right phone number the previous day, he had not.I did eventually receive the delivery that day, but the bottom line is that the indifference and rudeness I have been treated with by this pharmacy is unacceptable, and I am glad to now be doing business with Rite-Aid in West Haven,who are always prompt and cheerful, and are able to deliver the same medications in a much more transparent and reasonable,respectful fashion.I will be happy to never deal with the apothecary at Yale/St.Raphael campus ever again,as it has been a consistently dis-satisfying experience.
