Terrible experience, I met with a woman to help with my finances 3 times. Each time I went she couldn’t even recall what we’d already worked on. I ended up going my own way to purchasing my home, when they told me I wasn’t ready. This service was not helpful

Can someone here tell me if the mortgage loans offered with them have a lower interest rate than the market? What would be the pro of getting their help, and having a conventional loan? if I am a moderate income person. thank you

Katrina from HOC Lending went all out for me! When I came to NHS of New Haven, she excused herself from her meeting just to talk with me. From there she held my hand throughout my entire home buying process, helped me get down payment assistance and even attended my closing. She is still helping me now to get some money I am eligible for to do some work within my home. Am not from here and Katrina understood the importance for me to be a homeowner. I couldn’t ask for better service!

My wife and I have been working with NHS of New Haven since 2020, and have found them to very informative and helpful. I recommend their classes to everyone. They are always available, with valuable information and always ready to help in any way. My offer on a home has been accepted and I hope to be a new owner in a very soon. I will continue to work with them as I am hoping to make a multiple family purchase in the near future. I hope they are able to continue to provide services and assistance to new homeowners and current homeowners. Thanks again to the whole team at NHS of New Haven. I have to make special mention of Ms. Russell, Ms. Montenez and Ms. Goins.

I went to NHS 7 years ago when I was in the process of purchasing my first home. I enrolled in their first time homeownership program, was assigned a financial counselor, and participated in their IDA program. I received great service and valuable advice. Fast forward to 7 years later, I've returned to NHS for assistance with purchasing my first invest property. I've registered for their landlord class and received great advice on how to go about refinancing my current home for a lower rate. Their HOC lending development program is a great resource as well.

WOW ! I am completely appalled by the level of unprofessional staff. My husband called the place to do customer service and when he showed up for the first day Stephen greeted him by saying “Now don’t steal anything” & he asked “if he’s ever been to the New Haven jail” the discrimination he faced is inexcusable. Going forward I will not recommend anyone to this place or to deal with Stephen. He needs to be corrected on how to speak to volunteers and not to treat people this way.

I highly recommend Neighborhood Housing Services, and the main reasoner that is because of their managing director, Bridgette Russell. I'm a first-time homebuyer, and there's so much to be aware of and understand. It's been a tedious process, and admittedly, it can be a bit overwhelming. Bridgette was so patient explaining things to me that I was blown away. She was very calm, kind, and was very inviting of questions. I felt very at ease asking her about things I didn't understand. Even while I was still on the call with her, I felt very thankful and lucky for having had the chance to speak with her. She later emailed me a wealth of referrals, ranging from home inspection all the way to attorneys and insurance agents. I feel fortunate to have linked up with her as I was doing internet search on home buying. Bottom line is, Bridgette is awesome. She'll take care of your all home purchase needs, and you'll feel understood and at peace while she speaks. The service is beyond impeccable. Thank you so very much Bridgette.

The responder exaggerates the efforts made or even the abilities of their staff. I stand by my review as truthful and accurate especially when one staff person flat out refused to speak to me until I paid $25 for a program I didn't need then took two years to refund my money by returning the now expired money order. The second person I was referred to refused to see me at all and the 3rd (Clara) spent exactly 5 minutes on the phone supposedly on my behalf then said there's nothing we can do we're closing your file. That's they're best efforts by their dedicated staff! You need to stop defending yourselves! Every attorney in the state knows all any program can do is ensure correct completion and prompt filing of court documents they absolutely do not have the ability to represent their clients against unjust foreclosures or stop them. Banks have carte Blanche to steal homes at will and no one can stop them not even this program! You only get 2 stars for the other programs you operate and minus 5 for the foreclosure "prevention" program which is bs.

This is a great agency that you want to take advantage of. You get so much information that you are not aware of when your are buying your first home. Clara was our counselor and she's the best. She was very helpful throughout the whole process. She answered all our questions and helped us to get to the pre-qualification process. We are very grateful for her and sad at the same time as she's about to retire, but glad that she was part of our process. Thank you!! Alberto & Yennitsa
