I normally don't write reviews but this warrants honest feedback since I'm switching vets for my senior cat that has multiple chronic illnesses. This vet was the closest to where I am so the location is convenient but there are numerous reasons why I'm switching:1. Prescriptions are a complete hassle, in which they do not do electronic copies nor approve requests from common pet sites like Chewy, unless it is from their own online store (which sells at a premium comparatively). You would have to get a paper prescription copy from the office, which can be inconvenient if you live far. Not having e-copies of prescriptions is wild to me, are we living in the dark ages? This was never a problem for my other vets and with their system, you'd think it'd be helpful if the owner has to submit the approvals themselves on Chewy. Also, if you have a pet that needs variety in food/meds/etc. (because they get sick of one flavor) then you'll need to get a physical copy for every single variation.2. The doctor who my cat sees only comes in twice a week, so this makes it very inconvenient if I need any approvals or advice. One time I called Tuesday morning and was told to wait until Friday when the doctor comes in to get approval for a prescription I only had a few days left. Advocate for a doctor that goes to the office every day so that there isn't delays in treatment.3. Communication is very inconsistent with the office/front desk, where emails and calls tend to be slow. Even when ordering from their own online stores for prescription foods, I have to call in to have them check and approve the foods, which I shouldn't need to do :( The system is just disorganized.TLDR: If you don't mind delays in treatment, prescriptions, communication, etc. then have at it. The doctors are nice, but all of the above have been deal breakers for me.

Incredibly unimpressed with this vet office. This was my first and only time visiting, and I did not have one single positive experience or interaction with anyone here. From the moment I walked in, it was obvious the girl at the front desk either did not want to be there or did not want to help anyone. She did not greet me, smile, or make eye contact once during our interactions before AND after the appointment. Very off putting and unwelcoming.I was brought back on time, but the vet didn’t come to the room until 40 minutes past my appointment time and was condescending the entire appointment. She spoke to me like I was a child instead of treating me like an adult in their 30s. My pet was brought in for a specific issue that I have a lot of experience dealing with with my other pets, and I explained that to her, but she still spoke to me in a way that resembled a parent to a child. When it was time to evaluate my pet, I was directed to put my pet on the table then sit back down like I was a child. The vet tech “stood guard” between me and my pet which left a very bad taste in my mouth. No other vet I’ve been to has had an issue with me standing next to my pet during their appointment. The vet also recommended my pet be put on a very expensive prescription food even though she didn’t know what was wrong with him. To recommend a food change to prescription, an EXPENSIVE one at that, there should be lab/diagnostic results (which they didn’t do) to support that decision, not just speculation or opinion. I have pets on prescription food, and it was only recommended to switch over after there were extensive labs and imaging done and a diagnosis was made.I was blown away by how unprofessional every single person was that I came across and by extension, caused me to question every word out of this vet’s mouth. I DO NOT RECOMMEND any pets are brought here.

We've been using this vet since 2012 when I adopted our dog. The Drs. McKay are lovely and kind and competent, we're lucky to have them so close.

A wonderful place. The assistants and doctors are just the best. My skittish kitty is being treated by Dr Lisa McKay who is so careful and wonderful with her, and very understanding of my personal health related limitations.

Follow up: After writing the review below, the Manager responded as if he is kind and reasonable. At the same time, back in the office he immediately marked my account "inactive." When I called to ask the vet an urgent follow up question about one of my cat's care (I was in the middle of treating her for a urinary condition and wanted to get her well before I switched vets), I was not allowed to leave a message. So now my cat's care is delayed, and I when I asked for my records for the new vet, I found that they added a long note to one of my pet's files that made me out to be unreasonable and difficult.------------------------------------The doctors here are amazing. I have spent about $10,000 in vet care this year for my 5 cats. Unfortunately the office is run like they are doing you a favor to let you be there. One example, they asked if I wanted a sample of toothpaste, and then charged me 12 dollars for it because it came with a finger brush. I did not ask for, nor did they offer to sell me a fingerbrush. I did not see the charge until I got home. Then I had to spend a half hour on the phone explaining that it was fair to expect to be allowed to return an item one did not want to buy. Then went to return it I had to explain it twice more to 2 other people before they were willing to take it back. This just one example. After a good 3 years of excellent care I am going to take my $10,000/year of business elsewhere.

If you can avoid this place I highly recommend finding another vet! I unfortunately needed to use vet wellness while living in New Haven and I did not have a car. My main reasons for disliking this place are:1) The staff are incredibly rude. I am shocked by the horrible customer service. (See specific story below)2) Appointments ALWAYS start at least 15-40 minutes late.prepare to spend your whole morning or afternoon there. This was especially painful during Covid when it was cold outside but they didn’t let customers into the lobby. So I had to wait outside for 2 hours for what should have been a 5 minute booster shot….3) They always overcharge me. The prices are much higher than at other places. And the bill always has surprise expenses.4) you have to book weeks in advance for an appointment5) even the vets are very unwelcoming / judge mentalFinally, what left the worst taste in my mouth happened after I moved from New Haven. I received a phone call from a staff member saying I owed $100+. I was told I had bought a supplement and never paid for it (which is impossible). I told them I had never bought this supplement in my life and that I had already moved out of New Haven on the date they were claiming I bought it. They kept aggressively telling me I owed money. After several back and forths, I finally said you are lying and hung up. They never tried reaching out again because they knew they were lying and trying to get some last money out of me.All in all, this place is incredibly unprofessional and unpleasant! So please avoid if you can.

Being a physician myself, I am aware that not all medical places are created equally. I spent a while researching different veterinary offices. I ended up choosing this one. I am really glad I did. We just had our first appointment and honestly I just really like these guys. they had that excellent mix of making you feel happy, being punctual, and having strong medical knowledge.
