This veterinary center is fairly expensive - but it is New Haven after all. Decent service and helpful staff.

I rescued a cat and I took him here because it was the closest place. He had been attacked by another cat and had an infected wound in his paw. For the first visit it was very expensive which I didn't think anything of because it was the first visit. However, their treatment for the infection/wound was a spray that was alcohol based so the cat hated it and felt pain. It also was more and more expensive each time.
Not only that, but I kept spraying and he wasn't getting better. On top of that, there was a second wound that they missed even though I told them his backstory so they should have thoroughly checked him. They just made me keep coming in every 14 days hoping the spray and antibiotics would do the trick. It did not and they just charged me a fortune- they charged me for the visit plus whatever they did to him.
I ended up taking him to another vet who had the cat's problem solved within 2 weeks and thoroughly checked him which included shaving him down, suturing him, and bandaging him (3 things Veterinary Wellness Center didn't do). The second vet also only charged for whatever they did and not the base fee of just showing up.
Overall, people at this place are nice, but it is too expensive and unhelpful.
Edit after their response:
Hello, thank you for responding back. Yes, you are correct in that some shaving happened; however, only a tiny amount of hair was shaved and thus 3 other wounds were missed. I would have expected a vet would give a thorough check of a cat that came from a hoarding situation and had gotten into a fight with other cats. In addition, surgery was never mentioned as an immediate solution. The vet said to continue the spray and perhaps much later surgery would be needed. It was never brought up besides the first visit. Thank you for taking into consideration my comfort level; however, would have made me most comfortable is if I wasn’t being overcharged for services that weren’t really helping my cat. Overall, like I said, this vet has really nice people and vets, but it is overpriced and makes solutions longer than they should be. Recommend other vets in the area.

All the Doctors here are compassionate and thorough. I've been coming here for almost 10 years now. Huge shout out to techs Mickey and Legend for being kind and efficient with my fiesty senior pup today. Legend is the only person who can get in hugs and kisses while soothing my anxious baby!

Years ago, my cat was very sick and the two ER vets I brought him to really didn't do much to help. Not only did these guys go WELL above and beyond to help me out, they also are excellent at dealing with my kitty. Every vet I've seen here for routine checkups is extremely good at dealing with my cat, every tech is extremely friendly, all the staff is nice.
I literally can't recommend this practice enough.

I’ve had dogs and cats all my life. I’ve been to many vets. I have never been to a vet this bad. They have no compassion, they are late to all appointments, they overcharge like it is no body’s business, horrible communication the list goes on. Interestingly I was telling a friend about my experience and she had the same thoughts about this practice. Stay away, this place is awful.

I cannot say enough bad things about this veterinary practice. They are incredibly dishonest and are never on time. If you have an appointment, expect to be seen at least 30 minutes late. Their costs are exorbitant and they’re very deceitful about them. I highly recommend you find another vet because this office is absolutely awful.

There is no where else in New Haven that i have as much faith in. All of my pets have been seeing their best for years and years. Many of my pets have had their lives extended by fast and efficient intervention. They are the kindest people when it is time to say goodbye.

Great veterinary service. We just switched our 2 yorkies to this office. We were clients to the previous vet for over 40 years and we had an emergency situation with one of our dogs and they wouldn't squeeze us in . We called Veterinary wellness center and they said bring her right over and they will take care of her.
I can't say enough good things about this place everyone is very kind, friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family.
