My husband and I have been in the shop a few times, never any pressure to buy, but hard to resist the colorful, high quality clothing. The displays are always neat, 'not in your face' and it was spacious enough for me to walk around while my husband browsed for some clothes. We had the pleasure of working with Carl for a new suit. It was by far the best customer service we've experienced. From being well dressed to having great knowledge and attention to detail, it was the perfect shopping experience. The finished product was perfect and we thank him for being able to ship it on such short notice.

J Press exemplifies Ivy style. I went for the first few times recently and each visit was amazing. The staff member Carl was an endless fountain of knowledge, and not to mention a perfect gentleman, that gave me amazing recommendations while I got my measurements. The service at this location is second to none and the quality of the various pieces of apparel soundly blows competitors out of the water. This establishment has gotten itself another loyal customer.

Some of the worst customer experience I've ever encountered. Placed an online order, pants arrived and were way too small in the waist (I even ordered up). Tried calling the 1888 number for two days, was always told nobody was available. Called the store and talked to somebody who was clearly irritated to be having to answer my questions about how the return works, since the online return wasn't clear at all. Talked to her for 10 minutes and still don't fully understand next steps (sorry I didn't know what an RMA number was?) Also, i'm responsible for paying and coordinating my own shipping back, which given how bad the sizing was, means I'll never order from here again. I was excited to try some J Press, but I'll stick to places that make this easier (and are nicer over the phone).

Ordered dark blue multi check sport coat through online and is exactly what I was looking for. The J Press sport coats are of high quality compared to other men’s stores on the west coast. Carl was great to work with and is well informed on different fabrics and patterns. Happy first time customer.

One of the last pillars of times past. J. Press New Haven really knows how to do it right. Excellent service to match the excellent product. Carl and Brian were a delight to talk to. Both of them are extremely knowledgeable and their youth gives me hope for the survival of J. Press and ivy style as a whole. Would highly recommend visiting this store.

Service is horrendousI have been to this shop a handful of times in the past six months and the service has been horrendous.I have never been greeted when entering. The employees entirely ignore me when I've been the only one in the shop and are usually just sitting around conversing with each other. I have never felt more unseen and expect much more from a local establishment.

Best clothes for anyone who loves the old school ivy tradition and look. The new location in New Haven is amazing. Can't say enough good things about Jimmy.

I have been a J. Press customer for many years and was impressed by both the clothes and the excellent service. The clothes are still fine, but the service has decayed to the point where one might just as well be shopping at a Walmart. It's sad to see the destruction of another venerable brand after the debacles at Brooks Bros., Marshall Field, I. Magnin, Gump's, etc.

Having lived in the New Haven area for the past 37 years I shopped at J. Press when they were around the corner on York before the fire. Back then service was professional if not a little snobby. This past weekend I visited their new location on Broadway. The store was quiet, there was one customer in the shop and two sales people. I am looking to buy a new suit for my son's upcoming wedding. Service was absolutly non-existent. From the moment we walked in the door the two young sales people didn't bother to greet us. I told them we were there to shop for suits and they pointed to the upstairs where I could find the suits. I was a little surprised as most clothiers of their reputation would have escorted the customer and assisted in finding the correct size / style according to the customer's requirements. No such service this time.We went upstairs and started to look at the racks - there was no particular order to the suits - typically you would expect the inventory to be categorized by size; everything was randomly placed. There was no way we could find anything easily; this felt worse than a Macys experience and not what I was expecting from a bespoke clothier. We decided to leave. On the way out I mentioned to one of the salesmen how disappointed we were in the lack of service and he curtly replied he was too busy to help us. I mentioned we wouldn't be back and he responded with "have a nice day sir".

My family have been customers for generations. It is no longer the fine establishment which it used to be. They do not answer the phones, products from China...etc...etc...VERY disappointing.

While once a respected men's brand, JPress products and service have reached a low point. Won't be returning.
