Please be warned: this is a dangerous activity. Ever single place has to have waivers but it was under communicated the dangers of the rapids. Some days the river flows fast and rough and it is not communicated which days are more dangerous than others.
The life vests are not good it’s cheapest of the cheap. The staff giving directions are kids who spew the information out fast.
My friend capsized her tube and got stuck in the rapids. She cut up her leg on the rocks.
I was SHOCKED to see there were no “life guards” following the parts where the rapids are. If you go down or are in trouble- that’s it you are on your own with who ever else is in the river. We did less than half and had to leave due to safety for my friend. Please be warned- it was a rare exit. We saw a road and took that opportunity to leave.
The staff were kind enough to pick us up and bring us back.
But there needs to be a serious sit down in depth chat with customers about safety, what they are getting into, and trained staff along the river. The first set of rapids is a surprise and right after when you start.
The river itself is beautiful, the staff who helped us was nice, but there needs to be a revamp to match the extreme of this activity

Super fun place to bring family and friends. I wouldn’t bring young kids, definitely at the very least 8 years or older. The rapids don’t get too bad but there’s a couple of small spots to be careful around. You need to bring cash and highly suggest water shoes and shorts.

Nope, never again. Opposite of what I was looking for. I was expecting lazy river type experience with some small "rapids." What I got was a sore and bruised body from repeatedly getting stuck on the rocks and having to paddle and use muscles to move myself away from rocks, tree branches, etc. A family member who tipped over in the first set of actual rapids and lost her glasses, and a friend with bloody scrapes along his lower back from hitting rocks. From the start time of signing the waiver to getting in my car when it was over, a total of 3 hours. 3 very long hours.Be aware that the first set of rapids is soon after you start. No warning, they are right there. I think it's unsafe not to have signs posted or helmets for people if they choose to wear one. The people giving the rules are basically kids who have no clue. They sit at 2 sets of rapids doing nothing. You're basically on your own. They tell you not to stand up if you fall off your tube at the rapids because you can get your foot stuck in the rocks. Yet when my family member fell into the water, they told her to stand up.Bring your own life vest because the ones they have are moldy and smell gross. The best part of the experience was when I was able to walk out of the water at the end and get on the bus with the older gentlemen bus driver, who was super nice.

fun, clean air, environment still completely unpolluted.irresponsible organizers! in their heads, it is enough to "know how to swim", only that on 80% of the route the water is 50-100 cm...it is extremely dangerous without a helmet because there is a risk of overturning and sinking with the reel.it seems the organizers are from the 3rd world they will profit without spending.

We appreciate as Long Islanders the convenience of a ferry ride and shorter overall drive time to go tubing instead of having to always go to PA. The river moves fairly well and you can follow on Facebook for daily updates. There are a lot of rocks and some branches along the way so you need to remain vigil while making your way down river.
The life jackets are disgusting, every single one had mold so bring your own if you have. One of our friends had the plug on his tube come undone early in our trip and we felt like it would be nice if there were some staff members scattered about intermittently on the shoreline to deal with a situation like that. Instead we took turns refilling the air he'd lost.
Everyone out on the river was friendly. The staff we encountered not as much, our connector cables were confiscated at the onset by a curt woman and the kid meant to be giving pointers at the start barely said anything of use so first timers may struggle with the lack of insights provided. The bus driver was not friendly either just barking orders at all of us. More smiles would go a long way when people are coming out to have fun!
Arrive early to give yourself plenty of time, wear good solid water shoes and bring water to keep hydrated.

I’m a 52-year-old woman and I loved it; my 16-year-old daughter thought it was a little long, slow and boring. Do call and ask about the water levels and average float time before you go. This was our first time and it seemed like the water was a little low and we got stuck on rocks quite a few times. It wasn’t a big deal but it can be a bit tricky to get unstuck. We raised our bottoms in rocky sections so they weren’t hanging lower than the tubes and didn’t get banged on the butt. It was a bit hard to stay together so we used our life jackets to attach our tubes together. The life jackets were all pretty moldy and stinky and we didn’t want to wear them, but we are both strong swimmers and didn’t feel like we really needed them.

An hour-long single-person tube ride down the Farmington River. Ducks go diving for fish close by throughout the ride. The ice cold water from the handful of rapids sections will spike your heart rate. Definitely wear a bathing suit and water shoes/sandals.

Cost is $25 - CASH ONLY - which includes PFD, tube, and bus ride back. The experience was great, I went on a Saturday around 1:15 it took about 1.5 hours to complete. The rapids were fun! They’re not too aggressive, I mean 8 year olds were doing them fine…just hold onto the handles of your tube and you’ll be fine. I checked the FB page before I went and called just to be sure it was open, everyone was super nice, there was really no wait. HIGHLY recommend.

Came here with my boyfriend, it was loads of fun. When we went the water was a bit on the cold side, but that's to expect since it's a river. The current does get very rapid and I did end up falling off my tube (got the bruising of a lifetime), but with all the adrenaline it didn't really bother me much. If you like a great adventure then come here it is quite the experience. It does get calmer and smoother towards the end. Overall we spent around 3 hours floating. The first 30 minutes was just being thrown around and bumping everywhereeee, but after we had the opportunity to sit back relax and really talk about everything. No phones, just us and nature, and an amazing view.

Please avoid low tide days. Unfortunately it was hard getting through the river, and had to walk a lot and risk getting cut in the water to get through. Many people complained that they should have had it closed that day because it took almost 4 hours to get through. I don’t think I will ever do this again. Left with a bad experience. My youngest had a really rough time getting through.

Not their fault that the river is low - definitely made it a slower pace (they say 3-3.5 and it ok is almost 3.5). They are efficient and get you right onto the river and when you are done, the buses are waiting and quickly get you back. You can bring whatever with you and go to the side to eat (bring a dry bag). As other reviews said, there are adults with alcohol, etc. who are loud. Our family has fun and held onto each other a bit. If you have young kids, hold on as you do get separated at times.

When I wake up early in the morningLift my head, I'm still yawningWhen I'm in the middle of a dreamStay in bed, float up stream(Lennon / McCartney)I wonder how many cars cruising up Route 44 have screeched to a halt when they see a bizarre sign proclaiming they have entered Satan's Kingdom! So what exactly is Satan's Kingdom? Well, it's a one acre state operated public recreation area on the Farmington River used for hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and tubing down the river's three sets of rapids courtesy of Farmington River Tubing.Where did that devilish name come from? I read that construction of a nearby railroad in the 1870's proved so difficult the railroad workers named it "Satan's Kingdom"In 2012 the recreation area gained Connecticut State Park status. We walked along the deserted grounds (tubing is closed for the season) and saw some very nice scenery and river views,Not one devil in sight.
