My boys have grown and thrived at School of Rock. What began as an additional activity for our younger son to explore his interest in percussion as become a mainstay with both of our sons. We are on our combined 7th showcase heading into our eighth.One music director in particular, Tyler Bernhardt, has had such an impact on our oldest son that he composed his essay application as a camp counselor based on Tyler's character and his impact on him as a youth advisor. There were no fewer than 20 individuals in a leadership role that he could have used as an example but he chose Tyler. The impact of positive role models on young people imperative. School of Rock in New Canaan is an exceptional place to engage your child in music.

My son has been here almost every season for the last 6 years. He doesn't have any aspirations for a career in music, but he always has fun so we keep coming back for more. As a parent, it's great fun to see my child and other children enjoy the "classics". ? He really likes his instructor. Overall, it has proven to be a good value for the price. My only complaint is that I wish there was a Darien location. It's a bit far for us to go 2x a week.

There's a lot of kids in these programs... some work harder than others and it's clear they have their favorites. If you're not one of them, it will just be an average experience, so don't be fooled by the high ratings. Unless you really push for it, don't expect much.

New Canaan is pretty baron for shy kids who don't love sports and this is the perfect, creative outlet which provides camaraderie. I've watched my son grow hugely in confidence because of School of Rock. Big shout out to Tyler who was there from the start and showed encouragement and support every step of the way. Also, Brian who is now honing his keyboard skills so he gets to play with his Dad's band. Not forgetting Todd who is always welcoming - incredibly inspiring staff. Best thing we ever did.

We love SoR!!! Our son (Alex B) has been playing there for about 6 years. He loves hard rock (KISS, GnR, AC/DC, etc), and he's played in many shows. He's also played in at least one week of camp every summer, which is a very different experience--pulling a show together in a short period of time with kids you don't know--very impressive! There's a song he's played in three different shows over the years--Smells Like Teen Spirit. It's been great to see his skill, confidence, and stage presence improve each time he plays it. Outside of SoR, Alex practices on his own, learns new riffs from YouTube, collects guitars, and has even built his own guitar. As a young child, he was shy and very quiet. As he has matured, he has definitely come out of his shell with the help of the performance program. Thank you SoR NC!

My 8 yo boy absolutely loved his experience with School of Rock in New Canaan. We’re sticking with them for many years to come! Amazing staff and teachers who are just perfect with kids.

A place for kids (and adults) to pursue their curiosity and eventual passion for music and performing. A place where they can “gig out†with others who like to jam as much as they do. A place where they can get lost in the world of music for an hour lesson or 3 hour performance on a real stage, with a top notch light and sound system, professional instruction, and an audience of family, friends and neighbors.
