“Straight forward.. communication is on point!!!!?understanding thoughtful, patient, and they take their time with our babies. And their follow up is just as important to us as it is to them. Honestly I called them looking for a new vet mine was never available and I just needed to find a new one . Skeptical of course nervous.oh hell yeah ? half way through the visit I knew that I made the right choice and found Riley roo roos new vet. Their personalities are so easy going helps with easing our stress and the animals definitely feel the comfort also. Thanks for caring.?”

“09.27.24 Update: CJ now 14 1/2 yrs old and still running, swimming, and enjoying life. He occasionally furniture hops to avoid walking to & from the sofa to loveseat. We discourage but..his QOL is important and he has that.
I'm not it's the ultimate solution..
But it seems to have helped CJ adapt and adjust to changes in functioning that accompany aging in senior dogs.
He's definitely slowing down. Lost wt. down from 60lbs to 54 lbs.
Changes in activities- endurance, tolerance. Butno matter what he still wants to play. He'll sleep longer but be ready to go the next day.
Depth perception is poor with his vision. Impaired hearing. Heightened anxiety. Tbh He was high strung as a puppy. Took 3 hours of exercise daily release all his energy and anxiety. wants to be around family all the time. Now Wherever i take him to exercise and swim, he keeps close by.
He'll run back and forth- to me.
Pet owners know aging isn't kind and doesn't discriminate.
But Librela can alleviate the pain and accordingly improve or maintain the mobility and functioning for our pets.
Just my experience.
Ty for reading.
Original post: VCA Naugatuck extended the quality of life of my then 13 yr 8 month old lab mix. This translated to increased life expectancy. His Annual appt in Dec 2023. Morning of appt Cj went outside to do one of the daily things dogs do outside. Sudden onset of intense pain and extreme difficulty with mobility. Slow and painful to get back inside. Weighs 60 lbs too heavy for me to carry him back in.
VCA DVM SARA DUPRE informed me of new treatment for chronic pain like arthritis approved for use earlier in 2023. i knew even if this episode resolved it had high probability of recurrence.
Oral meds given daily can be a hit or miss for maintaining comfort. A dog instinctively my not show pain until it becomes intolerable and interferes with basic activities for example walking around indoors, toileting outside, getting up from floor.
I agreed to trial Librela. DVM SARA educated me on most current available information regarding usage, rates of success; common adverse effects along with most recent newly observed effects and cases of no-effect. I was able to make a well informed decision and felt comfortable to begin this monthly treatment. Day of initial injection CJ returned home had to be carried from car to living level of raised ranch. Placed on bed and didn't move position x 5 hours when son carried outside to void.
No appetite. This continued x 3 days.
Slowly began repositioning self, stairs still a challenge.
4th day- like NONE OF THE PREVIOUS 3 days had happened! Back to acting like a 13 month old dog, running, jumping
(our attempts to discourage these was met with obstacle (us) avoidance maneuvers! Had mixed reactions-feelings. INITIAL WAS WOW!
Followed by Amazement, gratitude and Awe! LIBRELA literally improving his QOL [Quality Of Life] 4 days after initial dose!
CJ'S response to feeling like himself again led to our thoughts and verbalizations of "Stop this nonsense! Will you grow up! you're going on 14 yrs old not 14 months!

I highly recommend this VCA location and encourage anyone who has older dogs with pain interfering with their normal activities to educate themselves and talk to their Vet about Librela. Ty to all staff at Naugatuck VCA for giving me more time with CJ and improving his QOL so much he's back to his normal playful behaviors he's had since puppyhood.”

“I took my cats here from 2001 until I moved out of state in 2011. I know my cats got the best in medical attention. The state I relocated to I went through 5 vets in 3 years. In the state I moved to you call your vet and you bring your pet in and they refer you to another vet that specializes in that problem. Your first visit to the specialist they perform their own exam. Then you need to make another appointment to discuss the medical plan. The third visit if you're lucky they will correct the issue but they may drag you back again just for good measure. I am so grateful my condo didn't sell and I can return to a real vet that doesn't run you all over and truly cares about your pets.”
