Food and sales here are great. I am so grateful to have this store here since it is so far above the many Stop and Shop locations in the area regarding food freshness and quality. I am not a great fan of most of the meat selections and go to McQuades for most of them, but for most other items, shopping their circular every week is a true bargain and plethora of good deals.

I don't think I've ever written a review for a grocery store but this place came through for us twice on vacation so here we are! We had a large crowd to feed after a long day at the beach and just wanted a few party side pizzas. We called around to all of the local pizza places and Big Y was the only place that would do them without 6 hours notice. We wouldn't have even thought of them but a local recommend we call them. We saved at least $100 by ordering here. Their party size cheese(40+ pieces) was the same prices as the large cheese pizzas that only had 10 slices at two other local pizza places. Another evening we decided we wanted lobsters. Called Big y to check prices and they were able to do 6 steamed lobsters 20 minutes after we called! We grabbed some, oysters, corn and potatoes and we were devouring our amazing meal less than an hour later for a fraction of what it would have cost to eat lobster out for 7 people. The steamed lobsters stayed very hot in the bags while we prepped our other food. The groceries may be a little pricier than average here but check out the extras that they offer for sure!

My friends and I are staying in the area for the weekend and entered this establishment in cheerful moods, only for them to be immediately soured. Not only were customers after customers being unreasonably impolite and quite frankly, very rude to my friends and I, but as we got to checkout the ladies ringing us up and bagging had extremely poor bedside manner. There was two of them, one of them being a woman named Gail, and since we had such bad experiences with the people shopping there, I attempted to be my most polite self, yet she was apparently in a very rotten mood and projected it onto us. Our items were carelessly thrown into the bags, leaving a box of cereal and some bread we had purchased crushed at the bottom. The bags were then either tossed into our cart or negligently flung at us. In all honestly, the only well mannered employees were the people working in the pizza area. What was supposed to a peaceful and exciting summer weekend in a beautiful place, got off on a very hurtful foot. Big Y is constantly promoting a friendly environment, where customers are said to be "treated as family", and when normally we are and can depend on Big Y as a respectful environment, this was the exact opposite. We hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, do better Big Y!

EXTREMELY expensive grocery store! Wasn't going to sign up for a rewards card since I only had a few items. Well I ended up paying $3.00 for a peach and $3.00 for a nectarine that we're both harder than a rock!Forget about the bottom prices on their advertising as you get the TOP prices posted since I wasn't a member!LK

I have been going to Big Y for many years. The environment is clean and organized and I have found the fruit and produce to be fresh and of food quality. I don't recall ever having difficulty with expired food. Overall the staff hired is friendly and courteous and I typically don't have to wait in line very long to checkout because they have ample staff ready to assist their customers. Nice job Big Y!

We shop here all the time. This Big Y is very clean. They just finished adding a new front entrance that brings you into the floral area as you enter their store. They have a great selection of fresh produce from local farms. That's one thing we really like about this particular Big Y. They support local businesses by showcasing some of their products. The managers and staff are friendly and helpful.

Needed to redeem cans and bottles, got started and machine stopped working. Buzzed the service desk to let them know. Customer service person was very gruff and disrespectful. Not sure if she thought I was someone down and out on my luck and was just cashing in on cans that I found or not but totally inappropriate. Told me someone would be out to fix the machine. Gave up after 10 minutes. If you don't like working with the public you should find another job that better suites your personality. Went in to the service desk to turn in my slip from the machine that I was able to process and the service person was just as surly and rude. Next vacation will find another store with better staff.

Once I became familiar with the store layout I started to come more often. The sheet party pizza is a big hit with my family and my church family. The selection is good on all the items that we enjoy in our home. The Super Bird is another big hit when "mom" needs a break and I can pick it up. I find the staff friendly and helpful whenever I have asked for directions on where to find an item.
